VIP Death Squad

A dreamy hip-hop soundscape featuring old-school beats and recalling a certain glorious Spaghetti Western. This is the first song on my new album, "My friends made music on my laptop and I stole it" - all the songs begun from little bits of groove my friends made on my Ableton Push while seeing it open on my desk, wandering around my house, whilst some are more coherent collaborations, but all begun in play. We should all play more - in music as well, and take ourselves less seriously. After all, 'if you work for a living, why do you kill yourself working?'

"My friends made music on my laptop and I stole it". Why the title? From my time in London I realised nobody really cares if you take yourself seriously or not, at-least when it comes to the music industry, and making music today really does sometime feel like wandering in an empty desert prairie. The song features samples from one of the best Spaghetti Westerns ever written - in parodying the Old West, and the American Western, the Spaghetti Westerns became the better Westerns in themselves. Did I think about any of this when making this track? Fuck no. It started with Naim Vahidi grooving on my Ableton Push, then me building a soundscape, and finally it was produced by @Tudor Petrea. In fact, all the songs on this album started with my friends just screwing with my pad, left open on my desk, and then through experiments and collaborations they got to where they are now. They have no cohesive genre, structure, or intent - they merely exist.
The artwork is by #ponyboy. It was mostly her idea and captures what's happening pretty well. Is the Rockstar dead? Is that why there's tumbleweed on Abbey Road? I don't know and I don't care. But it's a desert, so keep your gun holstered and make the music you want to make, whether or not it's 10 people or 10,000,000 listening in.
