Me and Hideo rock-in' it out, good old spontaneous jam style, in fun-fun-fun mode. Nothing's better than a live jam...I l-i-v-e for it! In case you might be wondering, the far off distant psychedelic vocals are in fact deliberate...I tried to create the picture that we are up in the cosmic realm among the planets and stars jamming it up oh so blissfully, trying to please the Gods, the universe and all who dwell within. We are physically so far away from one another yet spiritually, we are so near and ready...ready to give you the instant magical vibrational feeling. At least we hope we're doing that. The intox-hypno-trance vocals are actually me telling Hideo how excited I am to be jamming with him....jamming to his super charged up kit-percussion! From the first moment I heard Hideo play his drums, I was completely gone as in stoned out of my mind. J'ai écrit cette chanson en hommage à l'un de mes meilleurs amis emporté par un cancer l'année dernière. Il n'avait même pas 50 ans. C'était un ami comme vous en rencontrez bien peu dans une vie. Un poto, un grand frère, un confident, un larron en foire, quelqu'un qui ne laissait personne indifférent... et forcément qui laisse une trace indélébile dans le coeur de ceux qui ont la chance de l'avoir connu. Et finalement, je crois que c'est ça "Le Meilleur de Toi" : c'est un hommage à sa grande générosité, à tout ces petits et grands bonheurs qu'il a semés un peu partout et à tous ces merveilleux souvenirs que nous avons de lui. Quel plus beau cadeau pouvait-il nous faire?

I wrote this song in tribute to one of my best friends who was taken by cancer last year. He wasn't even 50 years old. He was a friend like few you meet in a lifetime. A buddy, an elder brother, a confidant, a jester, someone who left no one indifferent... and inevitably leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. And ultimately, I believe that's what 'Le Meilleur de Toi' is about—it's a tribute to his great generosity, to all those little and big joys he scattered everywhere, and to all those wonderful memories we have of him. What greater gift could he have given us?

The Rat Palace was our studio from when we first started seriously working together in 2016 until the landlords decided it was time for the artists to go and the tourists to come. It had been Mat's base since 2009 and hosted dozens of artists and musicians since it first started in 2006.
As the name suggests the place was run down, lacked various things like hot water, proper access and heating but it had a vibe, and the people we shared the space with all felt and helped to create it....Art was everything, day after night after day for years.
These 7 improvisations are a tiny fraction of the jams we had there, just a few highlights from 100s of jams. They are raw, unpolished and unconcerned with anything outside the moment. We rarely 'rehearsed' as such at the Rat Palace - just played.
Things come and things go - Vale Rat Palace, you were amazing.
