'Wave', originally a sultry slice of thumping house with assertive female vocal, gets a more spacey, trippy dimension from Italian Matisa (Steel City Dance Discs, On Loop, Permanent Vacation), adding high-pitched glassy notes, the vocal distorted and echoey, while losing none of the phenomenal energy and speed.

Last summer saw youANDme delivered his “Diva 2022” mix of "PPPPP" a track that would ignite dancefloors across Ibiza and become one of the smashes of the summer in the process. The label was always certain the record was a hit and the response that followed justified their faith. The track went on to be championed across the globe by the likes of Ame, Dixon, Matthias Tanzman and Pete Tong (Radio 1) leaving a succession of dancefloors demolished in its wake. Fast forward to 2023 and the Cult brings in a smorgasbord of house music’s finest to breathe fresh verve into what is rapidly becoming a future house classic.

First, comes the unmistakable dancefloor call of the “Diva” mix, with its fierce retro vocal and contagiously looping house sound. Its raw undeniable groove shook dancefloors for a reason the first time around and here it is to do the damage all over again. Next, house music legend Ian Pooley hops on board to serve up a delicious slab of fat analogue deepness. A rework for the real house heads, it drenches the original vocals in reverb and creates a tough sub-laden groove bound to work deeper floors. House music’s producer of the moment Cinthie delivers a red-hot reinterpretation that ups the bpm count and zones in on the drums. The Berlin-based producer creates a colossal house-breaks crossover that is bound to tear apart dancefloors. Reese subs fill out the lows while organs deliver the original rave flavour and take the track into orbit. Finally, Tel Aviv’s Yotam Avni turns out a remix that delivers shades of the pure old-school house with piano stabs sitting alongside deep chords before he puts his tougher-edged modern techno stamp onto it.

Rhythm Cult is on a roll at the moment returning with one of the most hyped tracks of 2022. This package delivers the goods with fresh remixes for 2023 from some of the best in the industry who are now added to the label's impressive roster.

Jonah Sharp & DJ Spun pair up as The Loose Control Band to drop a punk-inspired single on Rekids with remixes from label founder Radio Slave and SHUT boss Ryan James Ford. 

Having released a large body of work as Spacetime Continuum (Astralwerks) or alongside David Moufang as Reagenz (Workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of Terence Mckenna, Haruomi Hosono and Bill Laswell, Jonah Sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. His seminal label Reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by Nine Inch Nails, Meat Beat Manifesto and Matthew Herbert. 

Meanwhile, Jason Drummond has long been a commanding force within New York’s electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious Warm Up Music series or his All Night Rong parties with regulars like DJ Harvey. He’s also been DJing and producing as DJ Spun for two decades, appearing on Golf Channel Recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint Rong Music, which used to release music collaboratively with DFA. 

‘I Don’t Understand’ sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst Drummond’s turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. Staying faithful to the original, Radio Slave’s remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody baseline. 

Moving into techno territory, Ryan James Ford’s ‘Akihabara’ remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his ‘Hope’ remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the original’s piercing vocal.

Snuffo, founder of the famous Acid House project Snuff Crew and man
behind successful labels: Snuff Trax and In The Dark Again, is known
to light up the clubs as a solo producer and live act. This masked man
is influenced by a wide range of Electronic Music, art and cultures.

As a fan of the imprint Florklang and long time friend of label master
Kentaro Marume, he is very happy to contribute to this roster. Coming
off releases on Clásicos del Ruido, Diffuse Reality, Raw Union and his
own In The Dark Again, Snuffo is sure to thrill with his latest: „Ode
To My Family E.P“. This album features two of his own tracks and
remixes by Cool & Frank and Jin Cromanyon.

We kick off with „Dreams Fading Away“, a hypnotic yet melodic Techno
affair with deep pads, anthemic synths, harsh baseline and pumping
beats. In Snuffo’s live sets, this track always gets the crowd going.

The Cool & Frank remix then turns „Dreams Fading Away“ into a very
playful IDM tune with excellent twists. It’s musical brainfood in the
best sense.

The B-side flips things around, leading off with Japanese artist Jin
Cromanyon's take on the title track of the E.P. His „Electro Neon Mix“
of „Ode To My Family“ brings a burst of joy and happiness to the dance
floors - it's truly irresistible.

Snuffo's original work closes the release in which he combines his
love for his family with his love for Italo Disco. With „Ode To My
Family“ he delivers a catchy and groovy reminiscence of the sweet
sound of the 80s.
