FBN008 strikes with a storm of thunderous electro, techno and breakbeat grooves, as Hedchef searches for ‘A Disappeared Regime Of Materiality’.

Opener ‘Immersion (Requires A Certain Stillness)’ is a true statement of intent, as unsettling, half-heard whispers and layers of low-frequency power contort over a no-nonsense electro framework. Continuing the theme, ‘Guillotine Clause’ brings razor-sharp synths to cut through a tense atmosphere, before flipping the script for a techno-charged second half to throw the dancefloor off-balance.

Changing the tone for the third cut, Hedchef implores you to ‘Dissolve Yourself’ in 2-step swing and high-tech mechanical textures, before ‘Intersequence’ closes off the proceedings with relentless four-to-the-floor thump and stop-start interplay between euphoric stabs and resonant electro squelch.

For the remixes, we first welcome top-tier rave revivalists Denham Audio to the label. Their breakbeat twist on ‘Immersion…’ shows off their unmatchable, frenetic UK hardcore stylings with a kick drum to knock the wind out of your chest. To wrap things up, frighteningly talented low-end scientist Tom Place makes a return to FBN with his reimagining of ‘Guillotine Clause’. Injected with gaunt atmospheres and a moody bass rumble, the track finds itself in dark, paranoid territory.

Initially released in 2020 via his own Rekids, ‘Stay Out All Night’ is one of Radio Slave’s biggest tracks to date, alongside timeless cuts such as ‘Grindhouse’, ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’, and ‘Another Club’. Recruiting Carl Cox, Commix, and KUSP for remix duties, ‘Stay Out All Night (Remixes)’ sees three varied dancefloor-focused revisions drop this February on 12” vinyl and digitally. 

Leading the pack, Carl Cox steps up to the plate fresh from the release of his ‘Oh yes, oh yes!’ book. The People’s Choice delivers a lively 4/4 interpretation, flipping the syncopated breaks of the original into a stomping blend of house and techno destined for dancefloor decimation. 

Following on is Metalheadz affiliate Commix, taking a break from his usual brand of flawless Drum & Bass to flip the original into a fresh UK Garage cut. Closing the release is Rekids’ alumni KUSP, bringing warped basslines, additional percussion, and heavy drops to their remix.

Aloka is a 23 year old producer that has been making music for about 5 years now. Having began his music in the dark, beat-driven sound and early Rave music, Aloka had produced Techno/Breaks before now and has recently dived into the world of Electro, having been inspired by Aux 88, Dexter, Drexciya as well as Carl Finlow. This is his first release in 3 years due to a long vacation filled with travel and the first effort of his return shows some serious promise, launching a new label called Typeless Records. This two track release is sure to please with 'Concave' taking you on a journey from cosmic synth work to punchy hypnotic stabs, whilst 'Convex' is a dark, arpeggiated, synth-driven floor filler that displays Aloka’s mature & forward thinking sound perfectly.

This EP will release on March 1st.
