Detroit icon Eddie Fowlkes drops ‘Forever EP’ on Rekids this March.

As one of Techno’s originators, Godfather of Techno Soul Eddie Fowkes has shaped the Techno genre for over 36 years. With his releases on Metroplex, Tresor, Sony, Peacfrog, and his own imprint CityBoy Records and Detroit Wax Label, Fowlkes' contribution to the blueprint of modern electronic music cannot be overstated. 

Returning in fierce form for 2023, Eddie Fowlkes arrives on Radio Slave’s Rekids with a sizzling four-tracker. From the red hot drums and trippy vocals on the opening track ‘Forever’ through to the bubbly synths and swinging percussion on the B2 ‘Nice’, Fowlkes’ funk-infused House and Techno has its sights set squarely on the dancefloor - an unwavering testament to the lasting production chops of a true originator. 

“All of my creations start off with a baseline that perpetuates other rhythms. I just wanted to keep the impact of the vibe to hold the dance floor, so I’m always thinking about people dancing on the dance floor. Fresh from her previous Pets outing alongside of Balam, Madrid-based DJ, producer, promoter and all round scene shaker, Fernanda Arrau, returns to the label, this time in partnership with Persona RS.  'Match Point' finds the pair taking centre court to pay tribute to Chilean Tennis player, Chino Ríos, with some powerful B-Boy styling. Scything retro-rhythms and classic Chicago vibes are cheekily adorned with cascading synths, vintage piano lines and dominant back hands. Winning our vote and easily taking the win.

Eric Kupper and Kirk Degiorgio remix Radio Slave’s ‘Strobe Queen’ this June. 

Heard in clubs courtesy of Honey Dijon, Laurent Garnier, and Sean Johnston, amongst others, and on the airwaves via the likes of BBC Radio 1, Radio Slave now recruits two legendary remixers for the recently released ‘Strobe Queen’. Requiring little introduction, Eric Kupper and Kirk Degiorgio both turn in exceptional versions of the original, while Radio Slave contributes a stunning reprise of his own, continuing to explore his love of slower tempos and long arrangements of golden era NYC, as seen in subsequent singles ‘Wild Life’ and ‘Wake Up’. 

“I hadn’t planned on putting out any “Strobe Queen” remixes, and I never thought I’d have Eric and Kirk on the same release, but sometimes the stars align, and magic happens, and this is such a fanboy release for me. Kirk is a legendary figure within the UK techno community, and Eric has produced, mixed and engineered for pretty much all the most prominent DJs from New York. Like Kirk, he’s still putting out some killer records, so it seemed like the right time to get them involved with this project.” - Radio Slave 

Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards is one of dance music’s undisputed heavyweights. Having made his name as a DJ in the 90s, he went on to become the king of edits, twisting pop, R&B and indie cuts into essential versions that consistently set clubs alight. Since the mid-2000s, Edwards’ originals have helped define modern dance music, tackling techno, house, breakbeat, minimal and disco whilst exploring dub, balearic sounds and ambient across the myriad of other aliases and projects.

Detroit’s Eddie Fowlkes returns to Rekids this June with ‘Bahama Man EP’.

Hot on the heels of his recently released ‘Forever EP’ on Radio Slave’s evergreen Rekids, Eddie ‘Flashin’ Fowlkes returns to the label with ‘Bahama Man EP’, another four-track EP of red-hot danceﬂoor cuts. From the swinging opening title track through to the jacking low end of closer ‘Cube’, Eddie’s knack for crafting his unique style of club-friendly cuts is on full display across the record, some of his ﬁnest work to date.

“‘The Bahama Man EP’ is like a summertime journey to the islands and back to Detroit, into the studio. My creative spirit ﬂowed for these tracks, which were about funk and tweaking my original and legendary style of Techno/Techno Soul sound.
