As he fast approaches a 10th out on this label, Linear B continues to establish himself at the cutting edge of the electronic scene. His wealth of vital tracks have made their way into the bags of titans like DVS1, Noncompliant and Truncate, and sit in the grey area between house and techno. Stuffed with detail and built on heavy grooves, these four newest cuts continue in that tradition. 'The Emerald Isle' is where Linear B was born but has been UK-based since two years of age. The track features him singing in German and puts a twist on JFK’s famous speech over drilling bass and industrial techno drums. It is brilliantly dark and unsettling, and perfect for vast warehouses.

CMD aka Corina MacDonald is a Montreal-based DJ, producer and host of the program Modular Systems on CKUT 90.3 FM. She has released on JACKTONE, EXPERIMENTAL HOUSEWIFE’S PERFECT LOCATION RECORDS, FUR TRADE RECORDINGS, and BASIC_SOUNDS. For her vinyl debut, “Social Factory Reset”, she brings us four entrancing, slightly dubby and acidic techno dance floor cuts perfect for the smooth edges of the late night.

The A-side opens up with the title track “Social Factory Reset”, modular jacking techno with an infectious acid swell and patient pads. “Shaping Inner Space” is an apt title. The tempo is slightly faster than A1, and it sounds like an extraterrestrial night out. Euphoric synth twists bring in the break while the bass drum toys with the rhythm only to zap it back home with the force of cosmic gravity.

“Dream-Life Cycles” opens up the B-side tough, with an acid line and bass drum syncopation sure to bring out the stomp. Modular tweets fire off in stereo; lush pads bring in the harmony; and a nuanced and pleasantly surprising vocal line brings the euphoria on home. “Body Locked” closes the EP with an athletic, cosmic techno track that doesn’t shy away from the trance palette. Step out of your body and onto the dance floor!

VIL effortlessly strikes a balance between his seasoned raver's effective ammunition approach and his penchant for freshness that has accompanied him since his early days as a dubstep DJ. Concise elegance and banging inventiveness meet in the opener Rotari, as the A2 follows with detroitian levels of class and relentlessness, all ecstatic hats, warm stabs and beautiful percussion. Anjos, the new Birmingham brings in-your-face energy in the tight drum programming and a dash of trippy, quasi-dubby melodic elements in an ode to Lisbon's tentative premier techno neighbourhood Anjos.

Deranged yet loved-up, the B2 is a perfect peak-time dreamy mood-setter - proving we're in the hands of a skilled emotion-to-dance translator. The record closes with a stellar remix by one of Portugal's innovators, EDND herself, who drowns the opening track in mysterious waters and adds beautiful melodic elements, perfect for that much-appreciated deep dive moment on the dancefloor. There's a wonderful digi bonus for the heads, where oneiric pads are punctuated by vocal chops from a very familiar classic.

Uncertain returns to Rekids Special Projects with the ‘Abstract’ EP this December.

Closing out Rekids Special Projects’ 2023, Mind Medizin and Uncage artist Uncertain returns to the label with the ‘Abstract’ EP following up his 2022 ‘Escape’ release. Kicking things oﬀ, ‘Alert’ does what it says on the tin via alarming stab sequences, relentless ride-cymbals and scattered vocal snippets. In this EP, Uncertain draws from the early days of Chicago house, disco, and freestyle, making the machines sing in title track ‘Abstract’ via squelchy soundscapes over a steady techno rhythm.

‘Faze’ then sees Uncertain infuse organic drums with funky stabs while frenetic hi-hats swing above before ‘Access’ closes out the release with more mind-warping groove locked onto alien bleeps. This is another stellar oﬀering on Radio Slave’s essential house & techno sublabel, coming from an artist frequently supported by the likes of Noncom.

KiNK & Raredub inaugurate new sub-label Spectra on SHDW’s Mutual Rytm, backed by remixes from icon Marcel Dettmann. 

Spectra is a new sub-label from contemporary techno powerhouse Mutual Rytm, with the project set to showcase memorable singles alongside feature innovative remixers. The name Spectra reflects the wide range of vibes the label will deal with and the diversity of sounds that emerge through these creative reinterpretations. 

Needing little introduction, Bulgaria’s KiNK is a synth wizard and live specialist who gets more out of machines than anyone else on Earth. He has dropped endless standout tunes ranging from Running Back to Hypercolour and, more recently, Mutual Rytm with his ‘Quantum Shake’ EP earlier this year. For this latest outing, he works with fellow Bulgarian talent Raredub, known for his own high-octane, distinctive and dynamic sound that has gained supporters From FJAAK to Paul Woolford. 

The original ‘Time to Change’ has already generated buzz and has been a favourite of DJs from across the electronic realm, bringing a forceful and slamming cut with plenty of machine funk. A buzzy lead synth roams through the mix to bring great menace, while garage-like percussive loops keep things moving over a monstrous bassline. 

One of techno’s most influential DJs and producers, long-time Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann joins the release to offer his unique touch as the first remixer on the project. His ‘Reconstruction’ brings subtle nuances as he slows the beats to a more dubbed-out house vibe and layers in bright synths and swirling vocal loops that will get hands in the air. His ‘Universal Raw Mix’ closes the package in style, delivering a stripped-back roller with freaky vocals and 
eerie synth details.
