Very few electronic music artists can boast of spanning a wide musical spectrum as the UK producer Calum Lee aka Paleman / Fresnel Lens.Always emphasizing the percussive side (advantage of being a jazz drummer), and always with an innovative spirit, the releases of this authentic sound designer oscillate between the most abstract / experimental electronica and minimalist club focused techno, from atmospheric and introspective works to the sickest dubstep / bass music.

As at 30D we declare ourselves absolute fans of Calum’s music, we had a clear obligation to ask him to join our catalogue, specifically for the EyesHave It sub-label (we had especial interest in his interpretation of broken, dark and industrial techno). His answer was direct and unmistakable:”I’ve sent you a lot of pieces that fit with your label vision and the imagery that we love.. I’ve been studying existentialism a lot recently, so these tunes are a reflection of my headspace at the moment!”. A true declaration of intent!

And here it is, five perfect examples of obsessive tribal madness, overexciting synthetic broken beats and a lot of rawness. A pure musical gem.

Happy to present you this one mixed by Yanling.

The Swiss-born Hong Kong native, Yanling has captured dance floors since 2012 with her bold style – where she perfected her robustly intricate musical flair. Today she is based between Zurich and Berlin, where she is playing in big-name clubs like Tresor and is resident for the infamous Music Label Raster Media at RSO. She
has also appeared in line-ups at music festivals and cultural institutions from NYC to Beijing. The Swiss born Hong Kong native spent her childhood between Zurich and HK, and Zurich is where she got her musical jump-start amongst the city’s local left-field dance scenes. Her techno orientated DJ sets are charged with energy and mechanized intensity made up of bass-heavy percussions that infuse emotional power with her own brand of vivid futurism and invigorating atmospheric soundscapes. Natalja is the founder of Aurora, which is a series of ambient, drone and atmospheric live acts. The audience inhabits the cathedralic space, languishing about to the splendor of the immersive sounds accompanied by a audio responsive visual. As a producer, Yanling has a hold on varying dystopian-like sonic registers, mixed
with a heavy float of airy synths. She works from a more cinematic sphere enveloped in ephemeral textures. Merging sinister effects with a particular luminosity makes Yanling’s sound boundless, carrying listeners between both realms her varying experimental productions and live performances presented in contexts that bridge sound and art.
