You Are Not Alone

At one time or another many of us, through the stresses of everyday life, find it hard to sleep, let alone relax.

When a thunder storm rolled over my rural home, in July of 2012, I was quick to set up my stereo recording equipment next to a small still water. I got wet, very wet as the storm approached from the South West.

Recording thunder isn't easy, you have to baby sit the recorder most times to ensure the levels don't overload. What you get here is thunder and rain, the real thing, not synthesized, but recorded out in the open on a humid gentle summer day in Nova Scotia. There is also a hint of the evening bird chorus in the nearby Acadian Forest.

I have edited the track to help the listener sleep,  with a 1 minute fade in and a 3 minute fade out, it's perfect for sending you to dream land!

Rain falls from the sky, the spot it typically falls from, as opposed to falling up from the ground, which would be a tad unusual. It's a blustery day, the kind where it feels satisfying to simply lay in bed and enjoy the sounds of rain and wind. So relaxing. Wherever you are in the world, let's enjoy a peaceful moment together 😌

And, if you're still reading this description - yay, you're awesome. Here are some ways in which you may find the rain sounds with wind blowing helpful.

For sleeping - The rainstorm sounds act as a natural white noise machine. The rain noise blocks out other distracting sounds that might otherwise keep you awake. This helps you fall asleep and to remain sleeping all night long. The rain sleep sounds audio is designed to help ensure a night of great rest.

For studying - whether you're cramming for tests and finals, or trying to focus while doing homework, reading, writing essays or other school assignments, it's helpful to have a sound machine playing in the background to create a soothing ambience. Rain Sounds With Wind Blowing White Noise (75 Minutes)

"CITY STORM"
PT. 03: ROLLING THUNDER
-For the third part of "City Storm" the main feature is the arrival of thunder, albeit very distant thunder. I have never released a soundscape devoted specifically to this particular type of rolling, grumbling thunder that is travelling from quite a distance. I wanted to include some info from this great website "Sciencing":

on Rolling vs. Clap thunder:
-"You can typically hear thunder from a storm within about 15 miles of your position, occasionally farther out. Cloud-to-ground lightning that discharges fairly close to you will produce a sharp clap or crackle of thunder as the strong sonic shockwave from the part of the bolt nearest your position reaches you first.

A drawn-out, subsiding roll of thunder follows as your ear registers shockwaves from higher and more distant parts of the bolt’s channel.

The volume fluctuations of rolling thunder can be due to the zigzag and often forked shape of a bolt, differences in air density along the mostly vertical lightning channel and soundwaves bouncing off clouds, mountainsides and other obstacles – a combination of sound dulled and distorted by distance as well as echoes.
