השיר "גל" הוא מסע של געגוע עמוק וכאב על אובדן, שנולד מתוך שיתוף פעולה בין ענת זיסוביץ חריט, בת קיבוץ יפתח, לבין הזמרת והמלחינה שירי גולן. את המילים כתבה ענת לזכרו של גל, לוחם אמיץ ואהוב, בן קיבוץ יפתח, שנפל במלחמת "חרבות ברזל."

במילים פשוטות, כל כך אנושיות, ענת נוגעת בלב הפתוח והכואב של כל מי שאיבד אדם קרוב – תחושת הריק שאי אפשר למלא, ההמתנה חסרת הסוף למי שלא יחזור, הגעגוע שמציף את הלב בכל גל וגל.
