An artist with a growing Meanwhile history, Mike Rish returns to the label with a 3rd original EP, this time with the “Akhnaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” triple-tracker.

A story that began in late-2021, Mike Rish and his “Beyond” EP ignited a spark that would go on to burn brightly amongst a galaxy of stars on GMJ & Matter’s flagship imprint. Already a regular on such celebrated labels as Kasey Taylor’s Vapour Recordings, Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music and Guy J’s Lost & Found, the Australian artist has continued to see his distinctive and mature production sound much sought after.

Now returning to Meanwhile for the first time since June 2023’s “GT / Shoreditch Funk / Reka”, “Akhnaton” is inspired by the Amsterdam club of the same name and host of Meanwhile’s debut label showcase at ADE 2023. Full of trademark character, the track is a pounding club floor-filler with white-noise back drop and chugging bassline intent. Full of mesmeric soundscapes, and cascading delays, the track builds in power as subtle melodies are introduced amongst the immaculately placed pauses that help ramp up the intensity. The result is a masterful affair.

Continuing the hefty rhythmic narrative, familiar tropes percolate around “Gröv” like a fine wine. Under a huge, throbbing backdrop of seismic beat and cavernous bass pattern, spine-tingling melodies float across the mid-range before coming to the fore at the extended breakdown. Adding to the sonic collage with a hypnotising off-beat chord motif, the track then drops back into the familiar form of earlier phases as it draws to its conclusion.

The final offering sees “Cloudbreaker” continue to push the sonic envelope with the immaculately crafted bassline extravaganza. Full of percussive intent with shaker-fuelled top-line, a richly syncopated melody captures dancefloor attention, held through a sustained bass phrase at the breakdown. Hitting its straps again in the third movement, the gargantuan groove and luscious melodic interplay break through in a stormfront of club vibrancy and brio.

A force to be reckoned with via another EP chock-full of skill, technique and craftsmanship, Mike Rish excels once more via his “Ahknaton / Gröv / Cloudbreaker” EP.

Juicebox Music's 79th release welcomes Agustín Ficarra to the fold as he makes his debut with a 3-track EP, featuring "Revival", "Levitar" & "Conventional Habit". The Buenos Aires (Argentina) based artist made his production debut in 2020 and has since scaled his associations & quality, from releases on D-Nox's 'Sprout', Mango's 'Mango Alley' to Nick Warren's 'The Soundgarden' and Hernan Cattaneo & Graziano Raffa's 'Sudbeat'. Agustín continued making waves, especially around his country, through his comprehensive & genre-breaking DJ sets, whether it's on his own or alongside fellow peers from the 'Who Knows' crew.

To showcase a portion of his range, Agustín's curated & put together 3 tracks that express certain musical directions, whether it's the hard-hitting techno-influenced monster in "Revival" or the organic-infused emotionally charged groover in "Levitar" or the technically unconventional (excuse the pun) songwriting in "Conventional Habit". Feel free to indulge in a fraction of Agustín's incredible sonic palette.

Roger Martinez's Higher States rounds out the summer season by welcoming EANP to the label for their debut EP. Having worked together since 2014, it wasn't until 2018 that Buenos Aires residents Ezequiel Anile and Nicolas Petracca decided to coin the EANP alias for their collaborative efforts. Now firmly established, the moniker has become synonymous with quality club-effective progressive house, complete with a techy flair. Continued support from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, along with key releases for Balance Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and Replug have made the Argentinean duo a much in-demand act. Currently operating at their most prolific and creative to date, the beloved duo now add Higher States to their resume with a three-track showcase 'Hypersonic'.

Already in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, it is ‘Hypersonic’ which leads the release off. Complete with many of the duo’s beloved production hallmarks, it’s a stripped down slow-burning groove which sets the pace for intriguing vocal samples, hopeful pads and uniquely polished percussion to create a timeless storyboard. Acid stabs steal the air, adding dynamic swing to the groove, while an array of orbiting effects perfectly prelude a heartfelt break, one where wispy sonics and decayed vocals build anticipation for a stomped-out finale, one that is sure to resonate across dancefloors for the remainder of the summer season. 

Selection two ‘Hypnotica’ continues the duo’s dancefloor minded approach and complements its predecessor perfectly. With a tough percussive framework. EANP’s craftsmanship reveals itself across the expansive journey, one where techno-inspired beats and low-slung bass lines get peppered with skittering rhythms, glitched-out electronics and carefully placed atmospheric refrains. 

The duo’s distinct aesthetic continues on the third and final selection ‘No Input’. Perhaps the most direct composition on the EP, its eight-minute running time quickly sets you adrift in a techno-inspired wasteland of retro-sonics and granular textures. Both intimate and wide-ranging, it's a trance-inducing break which engulfs your attention whole, creating a ceremonial backdrop for misty glitches and fog-like swells to paint a scenic storyboard onwards to a rejuvenating finale.

As a DJ for well over two decades, Argentina born, Netherlands based artist Luke Santos has delighted crowds across the world with his far-reaching sound. Long-standing events such as ADE, WMC, The Love Parade and more have been recurring locations for Luke's exquisite taste and impeccable programming skills; while GU Music, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden have been global music brands to request his talents. A near decade-long career as a producer indicates his selective nature, with Cid Inc's Replug Records, Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank and Global Underground being the primary landing spots for his stunning creations. 2022 would see Luke return from a five-year hiatus via Musique de Lune Noire with the well-received album project 'I Am Everything'. A release which not only holds the distinction of being Noire's inaugural release, but received praise from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now, two years on from the release, Luke makes his debut on Musique de Lune's primary imprint with a special remix edition of 'I Am Everything', featuring Hernán Cattáneo & Marcelo Vasami, Kasper Koman & Alex O'Rion, Noraj Cue & Unders and Patrice Bäumel.

Progressive House phenoms Kasper Koman and Alex O'Rion are up next with a massive rendition of 'I Am Human'. Already in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, the Dutch duo combine their creative forces for a festival sized rework fuelled by striking stabs, hopeful overlays and relentless drive. A well-constructed break sits at the core of the track, one which finds a perfect balance of tension and emotion, before a finale of pulsating grooves and orbiting effects fully saturates your senses.
