Dear Orphic, Float Records and HEDON,

First of all, I would like to show you my gratitude for the opportunity you’re giving upcoming, relatively unknown, artists (like me) with this contest. It shows you have the hearts in the right places. 

Secondly, the mix. The way I challenged myself is was in a three part way. As always, I tried to stay in the mix and really work behind my decks (I hope this translates well to the listener). Only then I can get a sense of fulfillment when I DJ. Moreover, where I personally challenged myself the most, was to refrain from the more hypnotic tracks I would play ‘normally’ and choose tracks that were ‘different’ but still that felt close to me as a person. Lastly, because my track selection differed from the usual, I utilized slightly dissimilar mixing techniques. Ones that give off a more old school ambience. 

That’s partly where the title “A Shift In Ambience” comes from. I tried shifting the ambience of sound, without feeling like it wasn’t me who was playing. I just transposed on my spectrum of musicality to a point where I felt it was suitable for the moment and my mood. 

Last but certainly not least, I truely was filled with enjoyment when recording this podcast and I couldn’t stop bumping my head around when playing these tracks. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Jazz-o-Tech is a label that draws on the rich heritage of two of the most visionary and experimental genes in music: jazz and techno. Taking inspiration from the freeform creative nature of those two musical worlds, artists on the label mix tradition with modernity, improvisation with experimentation, and create a new sound known as techno-jazz. Modern music needs to be ambitious. It must aim to deliver a musical message which is one step beyond what has already been heard. It must take you on a new musical journey into unknown dimensions and emotions. That is the Jazz-o-Tech mission.

For the first podcast, Relictronica welcomes we.amps, the Italian duo from Varese who have been shaping the underground with their dynamic fusion of House and Techno. From their roots as resident DJs at This is not party to sharing decks with legends like Massimiliano Pagliara, Jackmaster, and Paranoid London, Andrea Cavani and Fabio Dall’Oglio have honed a sound that’s raw, hypnotic, and deeply analog-driven.

Their journey has taken them from Afro Acid to Solenoid Records, from Hör Radio to Golden Gate, and in 2024, to the legendary Panorama Bar. Now, they open the first chapter of Relictronica Transmission, delivering a mix that channels their signature acid, old-school, and disco-infused energy.

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @elyas13130sp for its 113th episode of Amplify Series.

Marseille-based producer Damien Lapéna launched his ELYAS project on the renowned Modularz imprint from Los Angeles. Between 2010 and 2016, he released over 35 vinyl records across various projects, collaborating with industry heavyweights such as Jérôme Sydenham, Perc, Dustin Zahn, and Pfirter.

During this period, he performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious venues, including Tresor, Berghain, Corsica Studios, and Cassette Club, as well as in New York. His sets saw him share the stage with influential artists like Function, DJ Nobu, Developer, and Grindvik.

After a long hiatus, ELYAS returned in 2020 with fresh inspiration and a renewed creative vision. Since then, he has released new material on Soma Records, Ben Sims' Symbolism, and The Infamous Player, marking a new chapter in his career with a signature blend of raw, driving techno.

In addition to his production work, ELYAS is the founder of Seclusion, a label dedicated to showcasing forward-thinking, raw techno. With Seclusion, he creates a platform for like-minded artists who share his passion for deep, hypnotic, and powerful sounds that push the genre’s boundaries.

A true artist at heart, ELYAS is dedicated to the art of DJing in its purest form, delivering high-energy, vinyl-only sets that showcase his deep connection to music. With an ever-evolving approach to production and an uncompromising energy behind the decks, he continues to push boundaries, delivering hypnotic and powerful techno for the dancefloor.

Amplify Series 113 - Elyas

For our May 2025 episode, Relictronica welcomes Madalba, a name that embodies integrity, intensity, and deep connection to the cultural and political roots of techno.

Born in Bari, Italy, Madalba’s musical interests ranged from punk and rock to house and techno from an early age. She made her club debut at 22 and quickly became a regular in Bari’s scene. In 2011, she moved to Berlin and began DJing exclusively with vinyl, marking the beginning of a more radical and intentional approach to sound.

That same year, she spent a formative month in Detroit, collaborating with DJ Seoul, Tom, and Angie Linder of Detroit Techno Militia. The experience profoundly reshaped her understanding of techno—not just as a genre, but as a social, political, and aesthetic force.

Back in Berlin, she immersed herself in the blooming queer scene, building a network grounded in mutual support and collaboration. Over the years, this connection deepened, as did her role in the city’s underground. Her path led her to residencies at queer institutions like Buttons and its predecessor Homopatik, along with appearances at RSO, SchwuZ, SO36, Berghain, and ultimately Tresor, where she now holds a residency.

Alongside her career as a DJ, Madalba has pursued her profession as a trauma surgeon—a powerful, often invisible role in a male-dominated field—which further sharpened her awareness of her position as a woman navigating complex systems.

With time, she became increasingly conscious of DJing as a form of communication—an act not just of performance, but of building community and expressing values: mutual solidarity, counter-cultural autonomy, and radical respect for diversity and individual expression.

Her first vinyl releases came out in 2014 on DTM-Label (Detroit) and Arkita Records (Berlin), which she co-founded with Synkopheit. In 2017, she launched her own imprint, Future Déjà Vu, with releases from artists such as Transient X4, Ken Karter, Mannella a.k.a. DHARAXT, Phontonz & Shcuro, Rage Therapy, and Bertrand.

Known for her propulsive, percussive sound, hypnotic mixing, and ability to fuse the primordial with the futuristic, Madalba’s sets are immersive journeys that challenge time, structure, and perception.

For the June 2025 episode, Relictronica welcomes Mike Starr, a British-born, Berlin-based artist whose career spans more than two decades of precision, soul, and deep-rooted sonic storytelling.

A regular presence at Berghain / Panorama Bar, Tresor, RSO, and Heideglühen, Mike is a key figure in Berlin’s nightlife and far beyond — with sets that have moved dance floors from Bassiani, The Cause, and De School, to Funk Club Mexico City, Signal NYC, and Hi Ibiza.

His sound is a living dialogue between 808 electro, NY disco, Detroit techno, and UK tech house — always personal, always in motion. With a distinctive sense of rhythm and space, Mike’s sets carry weight, warmth, and a quiet authority that refuses excess while inviting full immersion.

For the July 2025 episode, Relictronica welcomes Jana Falcon, a DJ, producer, BRENN resident, and former vinyl cutting engineer based in Berlin.

Raised near Frankfurt during the golden age of Euro Dance, UK Garage, and 2 Step, Jana brings a deep and instinctive understanding of rhythm, sonic detail, and emotional flow. After relocating to Berlin in 2011, she fully immersed herself in the city’s electronic music culture, developing a unique voice as both a producer and a DJ.

Her sets are a timeless fusion, from 90s House to modern, synth-driven grooves, from Garage and 2 Step to deeper, disco-infused rhythms. What holds everything together is her personal touch — precise, engaging, and unmistakable.

This mix is no exception. It pulses with the same energy Jana brings to every booth — vibrant, generous, and filled with the quiet joy of someone who knows the record before it plays.

For the August 2025 episode, Relictronica welcomes Banu, a DJ, electronic music producer and sound artist based in Berlin.

Growing up in South Eastern Turkey within the underground rave scene, Banu developed a distinct approach to mixing, shaped by her background in music, sound art installations and research. She specializes in composing with analog synthesizers, versatile and groovy, and uses sound design as a way to blur the boundaries between music and sound art.

Her sets are immersive journeys, filled with deep grooves, textured layers and transitions that carry both political and emotional weight. She believes in the transformative power of music, using it as a tool for empowerment and connection, with a focus on BIPOC and LGBTQI+ communities.

This mix is no exception. It moves between hypnotic rhythm and uncanny sonic detail, a space where the dance floor becomes both a refuge and a statement.
