2016 has been a stand-out year of releases on Dirtybird, including the launch of both our sister label Dirtybird Select, as well our subscription service, the Birdfeed. But the year isn’t over just yet, and it’s not in our nature to just sit on the bench and ride it out, especially as we’ll be ringing in 2017 on a weekend. So we decided to double-down on our end of year special, and present 10 brand new originals to end the year with a bang. 

Featuring nearly a dozen artists across an array of genres, the second volume of “The New Years Special” includes Dirtybird staples Walker & Royce & Sage Armstrong, newest members of the family Dateless, Sirus Hood and Ciszak, and household names Roland Clark & Weiss. 

It wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t debut a few new artists as well, so we added some breakthrough tracks from future talents Egopool, 6ftshort, Slow Jam and Elevator Music.

Underground Audio presents 'Wacomin', the latest release from the young Manchester based DJ/Producer Kreature.

Thick basslines rumble alongside playful percussion to create the title track, 'Wacomin', an infectious roller made for the main room. Tech-House heavyweight Raumakustik is on remix duties, distorting the sound to create a deep chest-thumper. 

Pulling together elements from his various musical influences, third track 'Aya' shows Kreature at his versatile best. Low rolling basslines play off against ambient soundscapes to create an early-morning hazy sonic mirage.

The EP rounds off with a bang. 'One Catch' uses rhythmic percussion to set pace from the off, stabbing synths and vocals penetrate the sub-heavy bass producing a smokey late night banger of a track.

The first artist other than label head Patrick Topping to release on TRICK, his Geordie compatriot Adamson delivers an eclectic mix of tracks. The EP opener and title track, ‘Electric Acid Tater Tots’ is an acid-soaked techno slammer, strung together by Elliots own robotic vocals. Skream then steps up to deliver the labels first ever remix, a trippy, high-energy workout, before the Electric Acid Tater Vox offers a stripped-back vocal version which is available exclusively on the vinyl. Over on the B-side, ‘NYC Dada’ is an infectious disco-house edit destined to fill countless dancefloors, then ‘11am in Brisbane’ delves into melodic techno waters.  

The record is also accompanied by two exclusive bonus tracks. Lesgo Lesgo Lesgo is a true techno odyssey and bonus purely for digital copies of the EP. Then, there is the Electric Acid Tater Tots (Acid Mix), a secret dubplate that has only been sent out to a select number of DJs. A true weapon for the warehouses.

“I don't recall writing the lyrics, but I like to believe they appeared in the notes in my phone delivered by some divine spirit via the medium of an Apple iPhone XR - cheers Steve,” Adamson jokes. “About four instrumentals existed for about four weeks and I would often find myself standing on the table at parties singing out the lyrics excitedly trying to explain that 'this is my song.’”

Championed by the likes of Paul Woolford, Annie Mac and Patrick Topping, Adamson is a young artist sitting on an impressive body of work. He’s previously released on DJ Haus’ Unknown To The Unknown, Man Power's Me Me Me and his own IDEA imprint, with no fewer than three albums already under his belt.

Germany’s Juliet Sikora returns to Flashmob this summer with two-track houser, ‘Keep on Fire’.
Sikora, co-founder of the Kittball imprint alongside Tube & Berger, has carved out her reputation by making infectious big-room house cuts for the likes of FFRR, Cajual, Relief and Different over the past fourteen years. A consummate DJ who has toured consistently as well as a force to be reckoned with as an A&R, she has a well tested ear for exactly what works in house music.
Debuting on Flashmob last year with the punchy ‘Beat Bang’ EP, Sikora returns to the influential imprint with another two tracks that focus on bottom heavy grooves with hearty results. The chunky, classic beats of ‘Keep on Fire’ lead the charge with some evergreen vocal sampling providing the arrangement with a worthy crescendo while the flip, ‘Here We Go’, takes a more heads down, rolling route to increasingly intense drops over it’s 7 minute span.
Juliet Sikora’s ‘Keep on Fire’ EP is released on Flashmob on June 26th.
