According to the Babylonian Mul.Apin, which dates from 1000–686 BCE, this constellation was known as "The Furrow", representing the goddess Shala's ear of grain. One star in this constellation, Spica, retains this tradition as it is Latin for "ear of grain", one of the major products of the Mesopotamian furrow. The constellation was also known as "AB.SIN" and "absinnu". For this reason the constellation became associated with fertility. According to Gavin White the figure of Virgo corresponds to two Babylonian constellations: the "Furrow" in the eastern sector of Virgo and the "Frond of Erua" in the western sector. The Frond of Erua was depicted as a goddess holding a palm-frond – a motif that still occasionally appears in much later depictions of Virgo. There is very important documentation referring to the description of the constellation Virgo, which has its origin in the ancient Assyrian-Babylonian culture. This constellation has always been female and has been especially associated with the tension between fertility and beauty. The Babylonians associated this constellation with the goddess Ishtar, also well-known under the name of Ashtoreth or Astarte.
The Greeks and Romans associated Virgo with their goddess of wheat/agriculture, Demeter-Ceres who is the mother of Persephone-Proserpina. Alternatively, she was sometimes identified as the virgin goddess Iustitia or Astraea, holding the scales of justice in her hand as the constellation Libra. Another myth identifies Virgo as Erigone, the daughter of Icarius of Athens. Icarius, who had been favoured by Dionysus, was killed by his shepherds while they were intoxicated and Erigone hanged herself in grief; Dionysus placed the father and daughter in the stars as Boötes and Virgo respectively. In the Middle Ages, Virgo was sometimes associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Virgo is often portrayed carrying two sheaves of wheat, one of which is marked by the bright star Spica.

DRR Podcast 008 - Axkan

Coming off of EP releases on Dynamic Reflection and 100% Pure, Uun returns to his label Ego Death for it's third release, and it's first on vinyl. 

The title track references Carl Sagan's classic work of skepticism "Demon Haunted World." It features a percussive attack that builds into a swirling tornado of distorted synths and hihats. "The Scarlet Martyr" takes a different approach that is heavy on pads and atmospheric elements, all over a bed of field recordings. The B Side starts with NX1's remix of the title track. This interpretation chops up the synths and percussive elements into a broken beat onslaught that builds into the main synth element being deconstructed piece by piece. The final track "Dominions" continues in the broken beat direction with a more straightforward dancefloor approach.

Tex-Rec is a production definition of an artist who has been growing over the past years. One whose sound and style are at once rooted in the musical heritage of his native country Bosnia & Herzegovina and home in the digital diaspora of our globalized techno-culture. 

A member of the new breed of DJs, Tex-Rec, has been making a lot of noise over the past few years with a slew of undeniable productions and highly acclaimed sets at the world’s leading venues. Tex-Rec has been honing his unique sound since the very beginning.. Influenced by well known producer as Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, Hawtin, etc, he has not been able to take a break from making music releasing an impressive number of tracks on labels such as Italo Business, Frequenza Records, Wehppa Music, Diva Recordings, Machine Box, CVM, and many others.

The unmistakable darkness that you hear in Tex-Rec's productions is also a hallmark of his unrelenting sets that gets over one thousand downloads per week. The interplay between the cutting techno and the modern minimal records that he produces creates a new, updated vibe which is also steeped in the storied traditions laid down by his heroes before him. Hypnotizing every dancefloor where his music is being played, the constant cycle of inspiration and creation means that this artist sound never get old. 

Not knowing where he’ll go next sonically is half the excitement of seeing him DJ - finally experiencing it and getting locked into his soulful vibe is the other half. You’re either already a converted follower or are about to join the ranks.
