From the moment his spaceship crashed on our little planet, Björn Torwellen was excited as well as inspired by its musical variety and looked deeply into each genre to expand his musical talent. In his youth the then discovered his fascination for electronic dance music…. Which was called “Techno”, where he finally found his home.
Getting more and more into it, he became a real “Techno-Punk” and started to spin records as well as first steps in producing own tracks. It became a passion. He lives Techno. His sound is dirty – His Techno is minimal.

Ideal Audio presents the fourth and final instalment of Oliver Huntemann and Dubfire's seminal ELEMENTS series. These techno heavyweights have worked together on numerous projects over the years, but it is their Elements collaborations that have shone impressively as a complete body of work. AGUA is the final piece of the music puzzle and completes the series that first saw the light of day back in 2010 with the scorching FUEGO.

2011 brought us TERRA, firm and powerful with its devastating breakdown. 2013 saw us breathe in the mystical AIRE, harnessing the elements of the previous tracks to build a fresh and magical moment. AGUA, as its name suggests, flows effortlessly, helped in no small part by the sultry vocal of Xenia Beliayeva, but kicks in equal measure.

Signing off in such style has also lead to Ideal Audio drafting in some heavy weight talent on the remixes. Carl Craig, under his C2 moniker, dives straight in to strip the original to its core. A single drum beat, siren, clap… and then the kick. Petar Dundov twists the original’s elements into a bubbling acidic stream that washes over us. An impressive package for an impressive finale!

According to Paul Strive's 2013 release… 'People Want Techno'. Indeed they do, as was proved by the response to his strong SCI+TEC debut. The talented, dynamic and energetic young DJ/Producer is known to be equally at home turning out tough and chunky mainroom house as he is delving into the darker realms of techno and having taken huge inspiration from label boss Dubfire, the Hungarian realised a personal dream with his first release on the label. Today he returns with his latest work the Rules EP. 

His latest double-header sees Strive delving deeper into the minimal, stripped techno sound. Revenge plays heavily on its spooky groove and twisted echo vocal stabs while Rules, on the flip, maintains the ominous atmosphere adding muscle with its fierce creeping synth lines.

SCI+TEC welcomes to the family Swedish Techno dream-team Alexi Delano and Jesper Dalhlbåck! They join forces once more under their ADJD alias to present their label debut - ‘Don't Constrain Me’. 

2004 saw the birth of ADJD as the friends teamed up on ‘Stocktown City Dwellers’ for Poker Flat Recordings. Since then, the likes of Truesoul, Harthouse and most recently, International Sound Laboratory, have all played host to the duo. Few and far between, ADJD releases see to always stir up excitement amongst their peers. ‘Don't Constrain Me’ is set to do the same. 

Tightly wound, this bubbling acidic number preys on the listener. Hiding in the shadows it flows, showing its face before retreating to the darkness in waves of filter and electrified kicks. Minus man Gaiser steps up on the remix, bringing his own brand of sonic finesse and rhythmic bounce, to present a most unconstrained version of Alexi and Jesper's original.

According to the Babylonian Mul.Apin, which dates from 1000–686 BCE, this constellation was known as "The Furrow", representing the goddess Shala's ear of grain. One star in this constellation, Spica, retains this tradition as it is Latin for "ear of grain", one of the major products of the Mesopotamian furrow. The constellation was also known as "AB.SIN" and "absinnu". For this reason the constellation became associated with fertility. According to Gavin White the figure of Virgo corresponds to two Babylonian constellations: the "Furrow" in the eastern sector of Virgo and the "Frond of Erua" in the western sector. The Frond of Erua was depicted as a goddess holding a palm-frond – a motif that still occasionally appears in much later depictions of Virgo. There is very important documentation referring to the description of the constellation Virgo, which has its origin in the ancient Assyrian-Babylonian culture. This constellation has always been female and has been especially associated with the tension between fertility and beauty. The Babylonians associated this constellation with the goddess Ishtar, also well-known under the name of Ashtoreth or Astarte.
The Greeks and Romans associated Virgo with their goddess of wheat/agriculture, Demeter-Ceres who is the mother of Persephone-Proserpina. Alternatively, she was sometimes identified as the virgin goddess Iustitia or Astraea, holding the scales of justice in her hand as the constellation Libra. Another myth identifies Virgo as Erigone, the daughter of Icarius of Athens. Icarius, who had been favoured by Dionysus, was killed by his shepherds while they were intoxicated and Erigone hanged herself in grief; Dionysus placed the father and daughter in the stars as Boötes and Virgo respectively. In the Middle Ages, Virgo was sometimes associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Virgo is often portrayed carrying two sheaves of wheat, one of which is marked by the bright star Spica.

DRR Podcast 008 - Axkan

Coming off of EP releases on Dynamic Reflection and 100% Pure, Uun returns to his label Ego Death for it's third release, and it's first on vinyl. 

The title track references Carl Sagan's classic work of skepticism "Demon Haunted World." It features a percussive attack that builds into a swirling tornado of distorted synths and hihats. "The Scarlet Martyr" takes a different approach that is heavy on pads and atmospheric elements, all over a bed of field recordings. The B Side starts with NX1's remix of the title track. This interpretation chops up the synths and percussive elements into a broken beat onslaught that builds into the main synth element being deconstructed piece by piece. The final track "Dominions" continues in the broken beat direction with a more straightforward dancefloor approach.
