La preposición procedente del latín CIRCA se utiliza en bibliografía científica, en documentos históricos o en genealogías para ubicar temporalmente un acontecimiento y determinar mediante supuestos, en qué momento de la historia de la humanidad ha podido suceder. Con este título este nuevo trabajo de Jëan Fixx busca desplazarnos a un tiempo indeterminado donde la relación del ser humano y la tecnología es tan estrecha que ya no se alcanza a diferenciar el mundo virtual del real.

En este compilatorio de remixes podemos escuchar las revisiones de los tracks de CIRCA realizadas por Death Whistle, Leuter, Drow, Ekkofault y Ermete Lo Stige, aportando otras aproximaciones estéticas posibles del EP original, llevándonos a diferentes estados emocionales a través de cinco ópticas muy personales:   La remezcla de “Humans” de Ekkofault nos transporta a un transformador amanecer, melódico y luminoso, en el que el encontrar paz y consuelo de la mano de un tema con influencias ambient, chill out y aportes vaporwave.   El remix de inspiración downtempo y tech house que nos presenta Leuter del tema “CIRCA”, nos muestra una narrativa progresiva elegante y flotante que nos seduce con pequeños lapsus de síntesis experimental.   Death Whistle nos lleva a un universo profundo y oscuro con influencias del IDM, el bass y el glitch, a través de la revisión magistral que hace del tema de influencia transhumanista “Virtual Body Language”.   Drow nos sorprende con esta contundente y precisa remezcla de techno oscuro y minimalista, en la que la firmeza de los vocales del tema “The Truth” acompañan una frenética línea de bajo que nos arrastran irremediablemente a la pista de baile.   Para completar esta publicación Jëan Fixx nos presenta “Last Call”, un nuevo tema que funciona como epílogo del EP CIRCA, en el que nos invita a tomar conciencia y acción de forma urgente en relación a nuestro presente y por lo tanto nuestro futuro. Este track combina elementos de techno clásico con arreglos más industriales y atmosféricos, junto a sonidos melódicos que nos retrotraen a la década de los 90, aportando un tono épico y progresivo que ya habíamos escuchado en algunos temas anteriores suyos como “Tannhäuser Tor” (2022) o “Globalizer” (2020).

Los 36 minutos de este EP se completan con el dinámico e intenso remix que el productor y DJ Ermete Lo Stige ha realizado de este epílogo, aportando grandes dosis de sonidos industriales y atmósferas oscuras que nos remiten al EBM y al techno progresivo, y que habitualmente encontramos en sus producciones.

Argentinian artist Drigo has been turning heads with his releases on Metodi Hristov's Set About, Spartaque's Codex and 2000 & One's Bitten. This is the first time he has collaborated with Fussion who are a duo also hailing from Argentina who themselves have already featured on Alberto Ruiz's Stickrecordings and The YellowHeads' Reload Black Label.

German artist Chris Veron steps up on remix duty to deliver a remix in the peak time style he has previously released on heavyweight labels such as Steve Mulder's Orange Recordings, Ramon Tapia's Say What? and Frankyeffe's Riot Recordings.

Opening the release is the epic 'Proteo' using a growling bassline and cosmic pads to build towards a cinematic breakdown with ethereal sounds before slamming back in with dramatic melody stabs.

'Hydra' hits hard with a mammoth kick drum underpinning sensual vocal phrases and the twisted euphoria of the arpeggiated lead synth. Chris Veron's remix of Hydra is a more refined version with the addition of a throbbing bassline and more focus on the pads to create a compelling dance floor experience.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Marcus L. The Seoul-based artist and resident of the city’s Faust club lands on SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin imprint with Kimchi Slap, a wild four track EP that hits hard enough to be felt across the globe. After meeting each other in Seoul in 2018 the two went on to share bills in different continents and now Marcus is the latest addition to an already stellar lineup of releases on Intrepid Skin. Today we premiere the title track which is an outrageous dance floor destroyer about my favorite fermented cabbage dish which features vocals from rapper Kill.gone. The release contains two other originals plus a massive remix from Hadone.

SPFDJ’s Intrepid Skin imprint returns for an outlandish and typically heavy-hitting fourth release, fresh from the somewhat outrageous underground of the current South Korean electronic music scene. Marcus L is resident at Faust in Seoul, and first met SPFDJ when she played the city in 2018. In the time since, the two have shared bills in both London and Mumbai, where Marcus’s distinct taste and technical dexterity became more than obvious to the Intrepid Skin founder, who dares to exclusively reveal that Marcus is “a really fun guy.”

This sense of playfulness is immediately apparent throughout ‘Kimchi Slap’, which takes inspiration from the beloved and fermented cabbage, reinterpreting this staple of Korean food culture as pure techno of the saltiest kind. So indebted to kimchi is Marcus’s vision, he even sourced a microscope in order to photograph it in scintillating close-up on the cover.

Those inspired by previous Intrepid Skin transmissions from the scene-defining trilogy of Nene H, Schacke and VTSS will find much more to love in this blistering introduction to Marcus L. Reflecting his sets, Kimchi Slap smashes ML’s love of industrial, trance and nineties techno classics into formidable rave paste.

Already a local rap legend and ‘irreplaceable character’ Kill.gone provides culinary verse and unfuckwithable attitude to the elasticated techno landscape of the title track. On ‘P For Phycho’, Marcus redeems his blatant disregard for correct spelling with a masterful slice of burst drums and quivering acid, beckoning all ravers down a rabbit hole of warehouse-friendly lunacy.

‘Hardcore Reality’ is just as instantaneous, a tunneling carnival ride of miltant bass and ecstatic atmosphere, while Parisian DJ and producer Hadone’s remix of the intimidating ‘Kimchi Slap’ transforms Marcus’s original dish into a dense, tense and surprisingly groovy kiss-off, positioning Kilgon as a trance-like God, ascending to head of the table on a twin wave of ecstasy and melancholy.
