Set to arrive in September, ‘We Are Le Turfu’ is the debut collaborative effort by creatively curious French producers REMAIN & daWad. REMAIN is a well known Rex Club resident,
founder of Meant Records, and has a plethora of releases on labels including Throne of
Blood, Darkroom Dubs, and Death On Wax. He is a man of many simultaneous projects,
namely Danse Alice, which has previously released on Lumière Noire. daWad has co- managed the IRM label which released Traumer’s first records, who came
from a musical family with his pianist mother and his grandfather an organist and harmonizer for a church in Provence. With releases on KNTRL, La Dame Noir Records, Beachcoma and more, this new project marks his debut on Lumière Noire.

Their duo alias known as ‘We Are Le Turfu’ was coined one night, playing records back to back, dancefloor receptive, captive, grooving, and bursting at the seams. With decades of
experience under their belts, this three track EP is the first studio effort of the combo and
flawlessly embodies the delightfully dark, cybernetic electronica CHLOÉ’s avant- garde label and club night is renowned for.

Opening track ‘Shame Shell’ see’s REMAIN & daWad enlisting a harsh, wintery mix of melodics to clash menacingly with the track’s probing bassline. Whilst somewhat sparse in parts, these producers have curated a deeply atmospheric and mesmerising composition, employing spidery synth patterns alongside me chanised percussion to produce a gloomy, subaquatic soundscape.

‘Still Care’ weaves sinister electronic measures with cutting EBM like motifs. The track’s abrasive inception, which features a coarse cluster of murmuring overtones and hypnotic drum rolls, methodically grows in stature and before long bursts at the track’s mid point to make way for glacial strings which adds an icy ambience to this dark, cosmic roller.
A special remix on this release comes from Charlotte Bendiks, an artist from Norway who focuses on alluring dance and body music. Although her main genre is classic house, her sets are inspired and influenced by music ranging from disco to African groove and Latin beats. Her live vocals and percussion, as well as integrating other musicians has become somewhat of a trademark. Her remix for ‘Still Care’ takes the original into a more downtempo, trippy edit.

The first single ‘Same Shell’ will be released on September, 13th and ‘We Are Le Turfu’ EP will be available from 4th October on Lumière Noire Records

This EP features two original tracks from the dance floor-ready pair, as well as a remix from French electronic music legend @dj-oil (R&S, Multi Culti), and is the follow-up to their debut ‘We Are Le Turfu’ EP  released on LUMIERE NOIRE in Oct 2024.

With decades of experience under their belts, this second studio effort flawlessly embodies their signature sound & carefully crafted production with this particular raw intensity driven by unpredictable hooks, perfectly matching the avant-garde sound MEANT is renowned for in it's 15 year label history.

For our next installment we are excited to have French comrades REMAIN & daWad, both who shared an affinity for dark melodic, synthetic and sometimes atmospheric 90s touches that gives birth to their own cyber electronic music. Both longtime producers and veterans of the dance scene shares as a duo project, “Drowsy” an EP with the eclectic tact that characterise them.

Dazzled, the first single of the EP comes with an intrinsic touch that dives between hypnotic synths, stabs and a restless bass along with dreamy voices which calls for a night out.

Comatose on the other hand promises to defy any dancefloor driving the listener through an static and trembling bass line, drifted vocals and a persisting beat building up constantly on a 
perfect club ride.

Following the 2 original tracks, we’re thrilled to have legend Silicone Soul & Prinze’s, remixing Comatose on a beautiful Acid dub that is nothing short but mesmerizing, along with label mate Kabinett who doesn’t cut short to add harmony a drives all night with his take on Dazzled.

Remain is back on Meant and steps up once again, this time joining forces with Throne of Blood duo Maxime Pasquier and Andrew Potter AKA Populette for a superb new single entitled ‘Discomfort’. Remain has been at the forefront of France’s techno/electro scene for several years now releasing music through labels such as Relish, Throne of Blood, Ideal Audio and of course Meant. French born Maxime Pasquier and US East coast native Andrew Potter met in 2003 and began throwing parties in and around NYC, they formed Populette in 2010 and have been at the heart of the success of the uber cool Throne of Blood label.
‘Discomfort’ is a superb slice of atmospheric, breaks driven electronica that truly showcases the production talents of all involved. Live drums are fused with dark edged synth lines, haunting FX and subtle vocal elements to create a swirling, disorientating, hypnotic record that is outstanding.
The original version is backed up with a trio of remixes. The first comes from US techno heavyweight Troy Pierce who delivers a deep, dark workout that journeys to techno’s outer realms, next we have the ever-excellent Chloe who turns in a version that blurs musical genres with it’s techno come disco feel and finally Spain’s Marc Pinol comes up with a brilliant slo-mo rework that mines the depth’s of modern electro disco.
Meant is certainly on a roll at the moment and this release is yet another sterling record for lovers of quality electronic music, enjoy!
