Globally renowned for his wealth of intricate productions and an expansive musical catalogue that strikes the perfect balance between power and grace, award-winning producer Rodriguez Jr. now announces his latest full-length studio album project, Feathers & Bones – set for worldwide release on May 26 via his newly launched imprint of the same name.

An extensive, ten-track opus that dives deep into the Frenchman’s complex sonic identity, Feathers & Bones was recorded over the course of two years, conceptualized while living in Paris and completed from his new home, Miami. Pivoting towards a new chapter in his illustrious career, the album houses a collection of new Rodriguez Jr. solo productions, two singles with Cuban-American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liset Alea, his collaboration with multifaceted Italian artist Giorgia Angiuli, as well as an eagerly-anticipated debut collaboration with legendary English hip hop / electronica outfit, Stereo MC’s.

Following the recent release of Tuning The Moon with Giorgia Angiuli, Rodriguez Jr. reveals the next vocal single to be taken from the album. Teaming up with his wife and Nouvelle Vague collaborator, Liset Alea, Amplify emanates hedonistic grooves across its duration, combining raw bass, celestial synths and Liset’s alluring vocals. Working together in perfect harmony, this charming creation will leave a lasting impression on the listener. Joining Amplify, Rodriguez Jr. also delivers his first instrumental record in the form of Lithium. Exuding a mysterious atmosphere, the track builds gradually with flurrying synths and eerie pads, pushed along by raw, driving bass.

Speaking about Feathers & Bones, Rodriguez Jr. mentioned:

“Now more than ever, I feel the urgency to explore different formats and genres. Twenty-five years of experience in music production and thousands of shows for diverse audiences all over the world has taught me that the unpredictable is often at the core of every achievement, especially today when dance music has become so formatted. The album is a pivot towards a new chapter of my life and carries the personal alchemy that I seek in my live shows; oscillating between dreamy melodies, ethereal textures and kinetic beats.”

Giving insight into Amplify’s backstory, Liset Alea said:

“Written in lock-down Paris, a time of deep reflection and dreams of escape, I kept asking myself what takes me beyond the craziness of this world, what makes me vibrate at a higher frequency, what amplifies me? Whatever guarantees my goosebumps, it is definitely sacred and worth writing a song about.”

Rodriguez Jr. – also known as Olivier Mateu – has spent over twenty years in the industry; with his vast experience of all genres of electronic music positioning him as the visionary of melodic house and techno that he is today. With early mentorship from the legendary Laurent Garnier, Rodriguez Jr. gradually honed his style into the dynamic, colourful sound of beauty that can be regularly found on Mobilee, Anjunadeep, Armada, and demanded on remixes for Stephan Bodzin, Monolink, Booka Shade, Eli & Fur, Jan Blomqvist, Röyksopp, NTO, Tricky, Timo Maas, and many more. German producer Marcus Meinhardt debuts on Kittball with a moody single featuring remixes from Stil vor Talents Jiggler and Township Rebellion. Following a streak of weighty releases from Ante Perry, Veerus, Roumex, Illyus & Barrientos and label founders Tube & Berger, Kittball now invite Marcus Meinhardt to their roster. Originally from Thuringen but now based in Berlin, the Heinz Music founder is well known for his releases on Katermukke, Hive Audio and SNOE. With piercing percussion and spectral atmospherics, Duke is an ominous number featuring soaring synths and tantalizing melodies. The latest release by the Mexican avant-garde label Akumandra is founder Sainte Vie’s three track auditive voyage: From Desolate Places and Forgotten Times. Going beyond previous experimentation with sound assemblage and sampling from non-western musical traditions, Sainte Vie crafts his signature mesmerizing soundscapes by combining dreamlike synth textures, monumental drops and vibrant melodies that feel deeply melancholic. Insistent arpeggios and expansive build ups bind the tracks together in an ebb and flow of dynamic energy.

High Seas 
Overlaid synth patterns, like waves, propel us into a mixed-percussion drop that settles on a harmonic calm before another surge of synth arpeggios drive us farther along into the thrilling sensation of voyage.

Whale
Disembodied vocals, like cetaceans communicating, echo each other, creating a ghostly undercurrent to the vigorous percussion and futuristic synth arpeggios.

Darko
Backed by an eerie melody and punctuated by a lead-heavy bass drum, a deep, guttural voice plunges us into the dark flow of time.

Spectral in theme and profoundly engaged with the sensorial quality of music, Sainte Vie’s EP transports the listener to a place that feels distant like uncharted waters, yet familiar like a memory.

Tim Engelhardt returns to Poker Flat Recordings to build on his already impressive reputation. Engelhardt, one of Cologne’s youngest and brightest electronic music stars on the rise is responsible for numerous dancefloor bombs over the last years.
