Sync Forward Podcast 100 - Remotion

'After a small hiatus Sync Forward returns to present its 45th release, featuring the debut EP of Australian DJ/Producer Kalkara.

The first track entitled 'Dream Theater' is a monster techno track with grumbling undertones, elaborate percussion, and an unforgettable arpeggio. Intellectual and harmonious, it gets all the right ingredients to create a pure dance-floor track.

Up next comes the remix of 'Dream Theater' by the label owners Remotion, giving it a more melodic twist to the original framework. Featuring stripped-back drum grooves that make way for sweeping mutating soundscapes of menacing synths and a breakdown that is absolutely vicious.

Up next is 'Thunder', with its busy and crisp drums, smooth synths, and subtle pads adding to a real sense of interpretation of textures and melody by the producer.

Last but not least is 'Volare'. Experimental and percussive in nature nit has a truly irresistible groove. The stab in the back and the abstract growling sounds, perfectly encapsulate the artist's attention to detail and form.

A heavy and complete package making it an absolute banger of a release.'

The duo has played in some of the best clubs in Portugal such as Pacha Ofir, Gare Porto, Industria Club and shared the stage with internationally acclaimed artists like Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Pan-Pot, Jeff Mills, Monika Kruse, DVS1, Paul Ritch, Pig & Dan, Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Len Faki, Christian Smith, Ida Engberg, Alan Fitzpatrick - to name a few.

In 2010 Remotion co-founded a record label - Sync Forward - alongside the Portuguese artists and their personal friends, Monotronik. Later on, the label solidified its position in the electronic scene, with the creation of the event signature "BLUR", leading to a monthly residence in a variety of venues featuring the closest artists to the label.

2016 started off by signing 4 tracks on the well-known label Elevate, having one of them - Lucy - featured on Pig & Dan’s Essential Mix, on BBC Radio One.
