Founded in 2020 Future Avenue is an electronic music imprint which operates under the Sound Avenue umbrella. Sitting alongside fellow subdivisions 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds, Future Avenue looks to provide a home for new and rising talent. With an ethos centred around progressive music and its surrounding derivatives, the label is a platform which gives up and coming artists a chance to showcase their music alongside established veterans as they carve out their own musical identity.

The 47th release welcomes Daniel Gomez & Eze Colombo to the label with their "Always Try To Be Better EP". Ismail Kizil, Tinga & Juan Lagisquet got invited to do a remix!

Argentinian duo Biotech Patagonia return on Moonchild Records after having debuted on the label last summer with their remix for A Skitzo's Against Us single. This time they carry the weight of a solo release titled 'Iceland EP' which features two originals + two remixes by Hacobb and Unseen.

The title track is a mysterious, deep and melancholic piece of work featuring a beautiful eerie vocal. Modern Agenda / Blaufield / MNL artist Hacobb takes the deep and dark sound of the original but turns it into an uplifting, intelligent progressive house mover, whilst the Unseen. duo goes for a more stripped down and intense approach.

Tassilo is the second original by Biotech Patagonia. A melodic techno track full of interesting sounds and a proper builder, very mature sounding!

Both Philipp Straub and Morttagua are no strangers to the dance scene. Straub’s releases have been signed on world-class imprints form Bedrock to Ovum. At the same time, Brazil’s Morttagua’s Timeless Moments label and podcast is no stranger to those with interest in dark, atmospheric tracks. For their debut release on Balance, they combine for an unforgettable track packed with emotion and main room appeal.
 
‘Bwell’ is a classically structured single filled with a narrative that feels ominous and hopeful. The 4/4 rhythm is warm and clinical in its execution, leaving ample space for the growling synth bass to evolve. The breakdown is classical prog, an emotive string section filters in giving birth to a picked classical guitar section that keeps it’s slow tempo all the way through to the satisfying drop. 
 
On the Betoko remix, the original elements are stripped back to the essentials. The growling bass makes way for a smoother, more driving version, and the synths focus on the original melody which evolves and morph across the track’s duration. He manages to crank the melancholy even more in the breakdown, a cleansing section that builds and builds. This is a slow-burn remix with many rewards.
 
Phillip Straub takes control of the final remix through a deep house workout. He beefs up the kick and percussion section and utilises the acoustic guitar section from the breakdown to satisfying effect throughout. It feels like the melancholy melody is appearing and disappearing like it’s coming in and out of consciousness. The groove is so thick it’s totally undeniable.

Premiere: Fur Coat - The Mist [Renaissance]

Renaissance present the return of Fur Coat and the third single to be taken from their critically acclaimed album ‘Polyphony’.

‘The Storm’ EP features one of the album’s most successful cuts, ’Eye Of The Storm’, with the much sought-after vocal talents of Delhia De France; and ‘The Mist’, a new track Fur Coat wrote exclusively for the EP.

“I was in the studio working on new ideas for 2021,” explains Fur Coat’s Sergio regarding the new track, “and wanted something emotional, with a positive mood that made people dance at the same time. Although we are still living with restrictions and lockdown, you have to keep the motivation and hope for the better times ahead.”

Meanwhile, ‘Eye Of The Storm’, which is a 110 BPM sultry, downtempo affair in original album guise, receives the full club treatment courtesy of leading producers Nico Stojan and MODEM. 

Nico Stojan needs little introduction, with a long history of releasing on the world’s best labels. The ethereal remix is redolent in his beautiful, deep, electronic style and will no doubt have broad appeal.

Premiere: Fur Coat Ft. Delhia De France - Eye Of The Storm (Nico Stojan Remix) [Renaissance Records]

Starting 2021 kicking like yer proverbial mule, hot on the heels of The Selador Showcase: The Twelfth Night Part One, we are proud to present, with a characteristic mix of dexterity, alacrity and logic – Part Two! 

Like its predecessor, this second instalment once again puts the spotlight on a whole host of global electronic production talent (2 x welcome returnees, 4 x Selador debutants) and covers a multitude of styles in one essential package.

First, we find hot Russian duo Goom Gum in tandem with Istanbul-based Gaidukova. ‘Freedom’ is a wonderfully constructed riff fest, underpinned by a mean growling bassline. Peak time action.

Next up, the prolific Several Definitions (Switzerland) brings us the magnificent brooding beast that is ‘Boske’. Maximum wonkiness, just how we like it.

UK scene stalwart Kiz Pattison delivers ‘Intruder’ – this particular intrusion is most welcome though as the insistent lead riff burrows its way into the darkest recesses of your cranium. Hold tight.

London-based Rashid Ajami follows renowned for the emotional depth of his productions, and the beautiful ‘The Lie’, in partnership with Dröm, will only help cement that reputation. Proper swish.

Next from Spain, we welcome Martin HERRS & Thimble, whose hypnotic ‘Impala’ is awash with exotic sounds cascading over a pulsating bassline. Deep, unrelenting business. 

And we conclude with Nila, the New Zealand-based Scot adding to his growing stature with Asyn on the yearning vocals for the powerful, instantly inspiring ‘Answers’.

Team Selador: the bestest showcases in town.

Renaissance are delighted to announce their first ever various artists (V/A) EP!

It may seem strange to say that, but it’s true, in all of the brand’s near thirty-year history, it has never dipped its toe in the water of V/As. The ‘Merin’ EP (FYI, Merin is Yoruba for four) will - you guessed it - always feature four key cuts from the planet’s best and marks its debut with a diverse haul that looks across three continents to present a multi-genre package.

Freshly minted from his Øostil partnership, Mexico’s HeÎk demonstrates his solo-studio prowess with ‘Eunoia’, a powerful, yet beautiful melodic techno ride; Holland’s Rob Hes provides ‘Undivided’, which has a similar style and feel so we guess you could consider it a Europe vs South America MH&T-showdown. The winner, of course, is entirely up to you!

The other half of the package goes solely to Canada and comes courtesy of three of the Montreal’s brightest talents - UNDERHER & Shades Of Blk and Woe. UNDERHER’s collaboration with Shades Of Blk, ‘Yesterday’, further confirms his status as one of the finest vocal-driven producers at work today; featuring the haunting vocals of Eleonora, the track walks the deft line between deep and organic, and will likely find favour with both camps. Woe on the other hand, takes things into indie territory with ‘Episode’, a twisted, dark, arp-infused composition that will no doubt delight and terrify in equal measure.

Premiere: Rob Hes - Undivided [Renaissance Records]

Manual Music's MNL label has been operating on the forefront of the progressive house scene ever since its inception in 2012. Now it's time to push the boundaries even further with 'Stop The Silence' by Aluria and Aman Anand - the labels' whopping 207th release!

Aluria and Aman Anand bring a proper underground warehouse vibe here. Deep chunky late night grooves, an infectious male vocal in combination with warm melodies make this an essential piece of forward thinking house music. And if you're not a fan of vocals then no problem; a dub mix is included as well.

To complete the single Australian progressive house maestro GMJ joins in on remix duties. It's his second appearance within the Manual Music family after last years immensely successful remix for Golan Zocher's 'Enter' single on Magnitude Recordings. He provides an interpretation that sounds less dark compared to the original, very funky and driving - a classic essential progressive house groover!
