We kick 2021 with a bang.... introducing Panayiotis Tassis and an extremely tasty 3 track EP. Panagiotis Tassis AKA Pete McCarthey hails from Athens and has been in the game for quite some time, releasing on labels such as Cocoon, Vapour, Afterglow and Baroque. Illusions Of A Dreamer heads up the release which oozes class and will be a go-to for the progressive house selectors.

Combining polar opposites, ‘Fragmented Heads’ is an introspective ballad sizzling with electricity. Naeiiv artfully pulls the listener in with an emotive mantra that gradually disintegrates, culminating in torrents of circuit-bent noise, all the while holding true to the tracks’ melancholy undertones.

Creating this release has been a process especially over the last two years. ‘(Still) Searching’ has been released first as the debut of Andre’s Best Works Records in 2009. 11 years later the new and improved version that we are playing since a while still gives us the same feeling it triggered back then. We started a lot of club sets with ‘Still Searching’ as it has this long, steady and discreet build up. As soon as Nathalie Claude’s voice jumps in, the room always fills up with excitement. This never stops as the track just keeps on creating more energy as it goes on and the great mixing and perfectly sounding percussions made us fall in love with the track even more, version after version. 

As good things come to those who wait, here we are. With two originals from Andre and three beautiful crafted remixes from New Jackson, our home grown artist Shiffer and label debutant Blak River, we are happy to share the 19th release of our beloved Siamese imprint. 

New Jackson's celestial interpretation took some extra work to find the right version but it’s safe to say it eventually paid off. I remember sitting down with him in Ibiza. We never met before but had a genuine conversation and we couldn’t give him enough credit for his re-release of ‘The Night Mail’ on Maeve that has been featured on our Cercle Stream in the French Alps. David was instantly hooked by the idea of remixing ‘Still searching’. He kept me updated week by week about the process and we already could sense there is 
something unique cooking up. We were stoked while hearing the first version, it’s a beautiful piece of music we fortunately were able to play a few times before the whole dance music world came to an abrupt stop. We hope that this record will be enjoyed everywhere and makes you dance, float, fly or just revel in.

‘Miss you’, the second original from Andre reached us right before all the night clubs in the world got shut down. If I remember correctly we could test it at one gig in Switzerland and it definitely felt good to play it out on a loud system and in front of an excited crowd. I’m sure that Andre, all the people involved in this record, and of course we as well miss all of you. 

Next up is no stranger to Siamese and its universe. Shiffer is part the label since almost the very first minute and also plays a big part in the creative process of each release. Patrik already showed his diversity through selective releases over the years and so does it again with this remix. Shiffer’s approach goes into a darker direction. The bells and the manipulated vocal might give you the shivers as it does to us. Very detailed work that we love about him and his dedication to evolve. At this point we can already tease an upcoming original record from this talented producer. 

Last but definitely not least we would like to introduce Blak River, a project hailing from Austria and resulting from a very long friendship and passion for the same art form. With an array of accomplishments of shaping the electronic music scene in western Austria, by graduating the SAE institute or just being amazing selectors, Blak River substantiate their appearance. Patrick & Adnan’s remix is more on the instrumental side of ‘Still Searching’, it combines both of their musical backgrounds, a contemporary approach and their very own distinctive sound. We are happy to introduce this project to a bigger audience.

After a rather successful debut on Polyptych with the single 'First Day on Earth', as well as a series of equally successful releases on such labels as Go Deeva, Bunny Tiger, and others, Russian DJ and producer Alexei Romeo returns with his new single 'Flying'. A classic progressive house track, saturated with the light vibes, warm mood, and airy atmosphere, is complemented by a dynamic drum part, crunchy analog bass synthesizer sound, and mesmerizing harmonies of arpeggios and leads. Remixes by Jorgio Kioris and Audio Cycles were a good addition to the release.

Both Philipp Straub and Morttagua are no strangers to the dance scene. Straub’s releases have been signed on world-class imprints form Bedrock to Ovum. At the same time, Brazil’s Morttagua’s Timeless Moments label and podcast is no stranger to those with interest in dark, atmospheric tracks. For their debut release on Balance, they combine for an unforgettable track packed with emotion and main room appeal.
 
‘Bwell’ is a classically structured single filled with a narrative that feels ominous and hopeful. The 4/4 rhythm is warm and clinical in its execution, leaving ample space for the growling synth bass to evolve. The breakdown is classical prog, an emotive string section filters in giving birth to a picked classical guitar section that keeps it’s slow tempo all the way through to the satisfying drop. 
 
On the Betoko remix, the original elements are stripped back to the essentials. The growling bass makes way for a smoother, more driving version, and the synths focus on the original melody which evolves and morph across the track’s duration. He manages to crank the melancholy even more in the breakdown, a cleansing section that builds and builds. This is a slow-burn remix with many rewards.
 
Phillip Straub takes control of the final remix through a deep house workout. He beefs up the kick and percussion section and utilises the acoustic guitar section from the breakdown to satisfying effect throughout. It feels like the melancholy melody is appearing and disappearing like it’s coming in and out of consciousness. The groove is so thick it’s totally undeniable.

Premiere: Fur Coat - The Mist [Renaissance]

Renaissance present the return of Fur Coat and the third single to be taken from their critically acclaimed album ‘Polyphony’.

‘The Storm’ EP features one of the album’s most successful cuts, ’Eye Of The Storm’, with the much sought-after vocal talents of Delhia De France; and ‘The Mist’, a new track Fur Coat wrote exclusively for the EP.

“I was in the studio working on new ideas for 2021,” explains Fur Coat’s Sergio regarding the new track, “and wanted something emotional, with a positive mood that made people dance at the same time. Although we are still living with restrictions and lockdown, you have to keep the motivation and hope for the better times ahead.”

Meanwhile, ‘Eye Of The Storm’, which is a 110 BPM sultry, downtempo affair in original album guise, receives the full club treatment courtesy of leading producers Nico Stojan and MODEM. 

Nico Stojan needs little introduction, with a long history of releasing on the world’s best labels. The ethereal remix is redolent in his beautiful, deep, electronic style and will no doubt have broad appeal.

Premiere: Fur Coat Ft. Delhia De France - Eye Of The Storm (Nico Stojan Remix) [Renaissance Records]

Renaissance are delighted to announce their first ever various artists (V/A) EP!

It may seem strange to say that, but it’s true, in all of the brand’s near thirty-year history, it has never dipped its toe in the water of V/As. The ‘Merin’ EP (FYI, Merin is Yoruba for four) will - you guessed it - always feature four key cuts from the planet’s best and marks its debut with a diverse haul that looks across three continents to present a multi-genre package.

Freshly minted from his Øostil partnership, Mexico’s HeÎk demonstrates his solo-studio prowess with ‘Eunoia’, a powerful, yet beautiful melodic techno ride; Holland’s Rob Hes provides ‘Undivided’, which has a similar style and feel so we guess you could consider it a Europe vs South America MH&T-showdown. The winner, of course, is entirely up to you!

The other half of the package goes solely to Canada and comes courtesy of three of the Montreal’s brightest talents - UNDERHER & Shades Of Blk and Woe. UNDERHER’s collaboration with Shades Of Blk, ‘Yesterday’, further confirms his status as one of the finest vocal-driven producers at work today; featuring the haunting vocals of Eleonora, the track walks the deft line between deep and organic, and will likely find favour with both camps. Woe on the other hand, takes things into indie territory with ‘Episode’, a twisted, dark, arp-infused composition that will no doubt delight and terrify in equal measure.
