Super Flu - Gether (andhim rmx)

The sound piece Sun/Moon is composed by the dissection and conjunction of all the moments that the composer, musician, and activist Neil Young pronounced the words ‘Sun’ and ‘Moon’ within his entire discography (until 2017).

The numerous annunciations point to the always present symbols of the Sun and Moon, and nature itself, within our quotidian lives, be it through spiritual symbology or via pop music. Furthermore, each side of the record, and the record player mechanism (with its needle and weight), alludes to the cosmic orbit and their gravitational forces, playing out an ‘astroballad’ in each we are all forced to dance and contemplate.

Sombra is a sound piece, a soundscape composed from the appropriation and compilation of a series of preexisting sound fragments. The appropriate fragments are all derived from countless horror films throughout history, more specifically from the zombie genre. The selected excerpts intend, in their respective films, to represent nocturnal and supposedly silent landscapes, this through the use of artifices and effects common to cinematographic languages, such as the use of "natural" sounds emitted by insects, such as crickets, or even other animals, such as owls, and also by sound resources such as the noise of the wind or the rustle of leaves and tree branches.

Conceptually, the work continues and deepens within my research that revolves around sound as a tool capable of not only representing and portraying a specific landscape, and its varied contents, but also serving as a critical counterpoint to the incessant production of images in our world. Thus questioning the instrumentalization of our senses, more precisely the vision, due to a commercial war for unbridled and disinterested attention in the notion of time that induces contemplation and reflection, the notion of time that is related to nature and the subjective time of "landscape contemplation".

More specifically, the work points to the zombie film genre as a metaphor for the current state of the world, where, together with the immediate social and political challenges, our greatest adversary appears to be ourselves, both as human species and as individual subjectivity, subject to competitive sociability that seeks only to accumulate resources, whatever the cost. The ecological crisis is also another symptom of a 'zombiefication' that affects everyone and everything, where we are responsible for destroying ourselves, whether through the industry, government policies, or even our daily consumption habits. 
Humans has effectively become the greatest enemy of life on the planet, including to human life itself, on all sides and in all corners.

I am also interested in treating this violence through sound, a position that is inverse to the cinema and its common verbiage of appealing images. The soundtrack proposes a paradoxical experience, where we sometimes have the sensation of a bucolic landscape, but the reality is something horrendous.
