After the success of the first volume of remixes comes this, a second album full of great reinterpretations of Renato Ratier’s fantastic debut album Black Belt. 

The album showcased the D Edge owner, resident and label boss’s great range of production prowess. It touched on house, disco, techno and everything in between and now gets reworked by a carefully handpicked selection of guests. 

Brazilian heroes like Anderson Noise turn up to tackle Fetisshu, Chicago house heiress Kate Simko also appears with her version of Kozaboa and tech house stalwarts Tiefschwarz lend their vision to 3 Bulls. 

Elsewhere the likes of Visionquest’s Laura Jones, Dutch man Boris Werner, Visionquest member Ryan Crosson and Trouw resident Nuno Dos Santos all get called upon to turn in their own remixes. 

The result is a fantastic album that breathes plenty of new life into the originals and shows that the label and Renato himself have their finger on the pulse when it comes to international acts with a really unique production voice.

Brazilian producer, DJ and owner of one of the international club circuit's most renowned spots, D-EDGE in Sao Paulo, Renato Ratier is the man behind many things, the latest being Get Physical's newest release.

Ratier has put all that determination to work for the 4-track EP that features two original creations just as driving as he is, Deadly on-point and hypnotic, "Out There" and "Weather" are completed by remixes from Vaal - who gives the first track a playful, filter-happy spin - and the grand master of funky percussion himself, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts.

Next up on D-EDGE is a remix single package featuring Ney Faustini, Andre Lodemann and Kyodai. The source material for the EP is tracks from Renato Ratier’s excellent SoulMachine release from last year.

Up first is Buzzing Fly and Freerange deep house hero Andre Lodemann. The German is known for his long and classy tracks and this take on ‘Soul Machine’ one is no different.  He transforms it into a growling, down low slow burner with icy hi hats and growing bassline that eventually consumes the whole track and a funky riff joins it.

Next up, São Paulo born Ney Faustini is a DJ, producer and activist in the Brazilian underground music scene, as well as being a resident at the legendary D-Edge club. His remix of ‘Old factory’ is laced with swirling pads and silvery percussive lines as well as an angelic synth sound and plenty of soul elevating drums. Its elegant and well balanced and will mark a high point in anyone’s set.

Kyodai gained respect from musical heavy weights like Masters At Work, Jimpster, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Trüby, and they regularly release under a variety of different names for labels such as Compost, Odori, Om, Lovemonk. Their remix of Soul Machine’ is a more direct and energetic tech house cut for the peak time on the dancefloor.

This is another carefully considered package from D-EDGE that ticks all the right boxes.
