3 QUESTIONS to ANNETT GAPSTREAM:

Q: Let's get into the mood for your mix. Why did you select these tracks and what do they still mean to you?

A: The selection process felt like being in a time machine. Some of the tracks - like the classic 1980’s ones - I have in a playlist and listen to when we have dinners or something like this. Totally different with the electronic music tracks, which I have listened to at least a thousand times but basically not at all in the last couple years. So finding those pieces was a lot of fun and brought up some very good memories.

Q: After more than 2 years of culture shutdown we see light at the of the tunnel. How do you reflect this time?

A: Yes, finally! It is really time to get back to normal (whatever normal means). Nevertheless I still try to see it positive - and of course I can only say this because I have not lost any family members or friends nor have been very sick myself. So I used the gig-free time to really get on top of the producing game, I created a little home studio and can now work on music much more independent than before those two years where I always had to go to the studio of a friend. Because of the pretty tight touring schedule before the pandemic and also other priorities this would probably have never happened without this break. After all I really hope that we are now finally getting over this worldwide disaster and can soon see each other smile again.

Q: Which projects are you currently working on and what's coming up this year? 

A: It is going to be an exciting year. During the first two months of this year I have basically been in the studio and also got on top of structuring the next months. I also didn’t spend to much time on socials (ps: sorry for the silence - back now). In a couple days, on March 5th 2022, I will have my first gig this year and will be from that day on again on tour every weekend. The silence is definitely over! Also planning to release around 8-12 tracks this year, already confirmed about 10 festivals and am really looking forward to spring and summer.

„Amygdala“ is Koze’s Sgt. Pepper. It’s an unreal 78-minute walk through Koze’s mind, complete with moods, intensities, sounds and scenes as yet unheard of. It feels more like a double album, urging you to turn over and change the records time and time again. "Amygdala" amazes by its sheer musicality, deepness, and its  ethereal sound design; it’s a kaleidoscope of a great variety of soundscapes where you keep discovering new nuances even after listening to it a thousand times. Nobody else could unite artists like Caribou and Dirk von Lotzow, Hildegard Knef and Mathew Dear, Ada and Milosh in such an organic way and on one and the same record as Koze did. There’s never been anything like it.

He weaves new garments around the a capella parts of his guests, garments that only he can tailor, and that’s how the album, for all the diversity of its artists, sounds consistently homogeneous and in the true style of Kosi Kos. It’s all about “the courage to dare”, about letting voices resonate undisguised in all their authentic peculiarity.  About creating  truthfulness.

How much can you cut out, when does the flame die down? On the other hand, under which circumstances could it even burn for ever?

The album, which in large parts has been composed in a Spanish fishing village, starts off with Balinese gamelan sounds from which a relaxed discoid bass peels off, caressed by mystic backwards basslines, balafon resonances and slide guitar chords. You can hear the ceaseless chirping, twittering and cheeping from all the treetops of Koze's exotic jungle.

dj- producer- video producer – cinematographer. „Music is like my diary“ If our appriciated earth had an orbit and inclination, who would prolong our day, René Bourgeois would be one of the first, who would use this additional time usefull. The Dresden born musicaesthete is bustling like no one else. Already as very young teenager he was harkening to the secrets of 16Bit, Art of Noise, Off or Yello. His relocation to Chaos-City, like a lot people like to call the capital, was decisive for his coming musical development. Supported by his sister, he was collecting his music favourites on cassettes and vinyls. At this time these has been luxury goods in grey East-Berlin. So he was meticolus collecting music, which stimuladet his synapsis and was listening to the sophisticated tones of the radiostations. With his schoolmate Daniel Steinberg,he founded a school radio, to use his collected treasures Who is wondering about that Daniel Steinberg aka Harry Axt – had aswell a glorious DJ-Carrier.

With the reunification of Germany René started going to the new Berlin Clubs . A short time later when they started to evoke the culture shock of techno, he was finding him self behind the turntables.
At this time he was starting to know a lot of friends, who are accopanying him till today. Sascha Braemer-Hirtenfelner, the creative head and lableowner, is one of them. With him as partner, he started first projects and musicproduction were following soon. Till this time he was following his was passionated with the view to be able to life from his music In the year 2003 he was opening a new chapter in his life: cinematography and videoproduction. Also he was able to gain respect quite fast with the things he did. In the end of 2008 he had with „4myRecordz“ (supdub) his biggest success till than as producer this was putting him on an international level. Today there are 20 years of passion for electronic music and a diary with an uncountable number of chapters. We will see forward what he has to write in future.
