Between the August 23rd and December 6th in 1730, in Khejarli, Inda, 373 bhisnois, Djambo’s followers were killed at the same time as trees, which they protected. Thus they marked their protest facing the deforestation. Their names have been carefully listed and kept until today by their descendants who still live in total harmony with nature. I met some of them during one of my trips in North India.

The axis of this acousmatic play is the complete enumeration of those victims, resonating with personal sounds from the forest and lumberjacks as well as double bass improvisations.

This piece in 4 movements is to be listened to as a signal, a marker and a questioning of our way of life. The speeches are those of French environmental activists.

Only one sound recording session in a hotel school kitchen. The sound treatments are natural  to keep the timeless acoustics ;  they are related to cooking technics : cut, mix, boil down, filter... Kitchen utensils, movements, conversation between brigade members constitute the melody and the rhythm of this place composed to whet appetite.

The sound source is univocal, consisting of a tibetan bowl resonance hit or scrubbed in a circular way. No other sound is used.
The composition mode follows the trigonometric circle rule with four quadrants opposite  by pairs in an elementary way : 
- high-pitched quadrant and low-pitched quadrant.
- horizontal sounds quadrant and vertical sounds quadrant.
The input mode in the piece listening can be done at the beginning of each quadrant according to the required experiment of the listener, and the listening can also be done endless in a circular way. Each beginning quadrant is indicated by a sticker on the commentaries line.



CONVOLUTION 4

« Collaps III » is the last piece of a trilogy whose the first two are coming. It is inspired by the anounced collapse of our actual world. Indeed this fall seems inevitable. Hope is more and more limited. The environmental crisis is the theme of « collaps III ». It starts with a sound landscape which a progressive destructive treatment will lead to nearly silence, in the style of Bernie Krause. It is the wailing time and I borrow one from prophet Jérémie, his declamation is  destructuring in flames. It is repeat in a motet inspired by  Tomás Luis de Victoria. This one evaporate in the wind whisper and a surge of optimism.

Each sound is a personal record ; each singer has been registered one at a time. Every reverberation are natural and sound processing are limited to simple filters and some equalizers.

Collaps3

The essence of « Collaps II » is a reflection about the environmental crisis using the voice exclusively.
It features the 16 haikus succession "Poubelle la Vie" written by an active poet in Lyon Catherine Thomas-Antérion and perform by 3 narrators. The drive is to keep this subtle text as understandable as possible, cadenced right away for an electro-acoustic music. Each reciter is individually recorded. The resulting sound recording is the only one used without any other natural or synthesis sources.

« Collaps II » veut donner toute son incarnation à la réflexion sur le sujet de la crise de l’environnement en utilisant exclusivement la voix.
Elle met en sons la série de 16 haïkus « Poubelle la Vie » écrite pour l’occasion par Catherine Thomas-Antérion, poétesse active à Lyon et déclamée par 3 récitants. Il y a une volonté de garder le plus intelligible possible ce texte subtile, ciselé et rythmé d’emblée pour une musique électro-acoustique.
Chaque récitant est enregistré individuellement. Le matériel sonore obtenu est le seul utilisé sans aucune autre source naturelle ou de synthèse.

Collaps 2

"Collaps 1 / Bure zone libre" is the first part of the "collaps" trilogy of which the next two parts are already available to listen. It mentions the collapse of our current world announced by the collapse experts. The question of the nowadays unbearable space of the human in the nature is broached. His connection to the animal especially from factory farming, his deafness to warnings calls about environmental crisis, his crazy development projects such as the continuation of nuclear energy programs. Farming animal cries resonate and match each other in this room ; those ones of demonstrator and the soothed testimonies of anti-nuclear activists from "Bure zone libre" yet subjected to a constant police and administrative violence but whom fight against the establishment of a huge and insane nuclear trash. All of the sounds used here are personnal. 

I thank the pig and chicken breeders for their sound recording and the activists of "Bure zone libre" who trusted me.

« Collaps 1 / Bure Zone Libre » est la première partie du triptyque « collaps » dont les deux parties suivantes sont déjà disponibles à l’écoute. Elle évoque le collapsus de notre monde actuel annoncé par les collapsologues. La question de la place maintenant intenable de l’homme dans la nature y est abordée : son rapport à l’animal, en particulier d’élevage industriel, sa surdité devant la crise du climat, ses projets fous de développement comme la poursuite des programmes d’énergie nucléaire. Dans cette pièce, résonnent et se répondent tout à la fois des cris d’animaux d’élevage, ceux des manifestants et les témoignages apaisés d’activistes anti nucléaires du site de « Bure Zone Libre » soumis pourtant à une incessante violence policière et administrative mais qui résistent à l’implantation d’une immense et insensée poubelle nucléaire.
 L’ensemble des sons utilisés ici sont personnels.
Pour leur captation sonore, je remercie les éleveurs de porcs et de poulets, les activistes de  «Bure Zone Libre » qui m’ont accordé leur confiance.

Collaps1/ Bure Zone Libre

got a doctorate of medicine .
He specialized in Neurology.
He participated in activities of basic research about  psychobiology of the adaptive behavior as researcher in the INSERM and experimented the first spectroscopys  by magnetic nuclear resonance.
Now, his activity is more clinical and particulary, he worked on the exploration of the peripheral nerves and the activity of muscles with graphic and sound digital treatment of their electric signals (electroneuromyography ). 
He joined the class of electroacoustic musique of Jean-Christophe Banaszak in 2004 in the national music academy of Troyes.
Concrete music, expressionist; from exclusively personal sounds; inspired by the daily reality . The use of plugging is voluntarily purified to obtain a timeless character.
Moreover he is following for several years, pianist's training particularly in the contemporary register.
