Life is a long funeral

the winds upon the ocean carried him away
from the shore she watched until the sails disappeared
his ring upon her finger, tears streaming down her face
as they tore her wretched heart so far away from here

his crime made convict and broken man within one day
only for the sake of his child did he steal
a half loaf of bread for a pitiful meal
