Relistening to some of these classics (and more obscure stuff) made me realise some of the great production and inventiveness on all the electronic instruments that were coming out during the 80's.

The sounds of 80s Synthezisers were really cool.. :)

THE CHALLENGE: Making a continuous dance mix out of music from the PSB's side-projects. It was quite some challenge, but this was probably the most personally rewarding for me of all the DISCO mixes I've made.

I've been a club DJ since 1981, and back when I was coming up (and coming out), it was THE greatest era for music. And it was a time when many artists and musicians did not hide their sexuality. People like Sylvester, Boy George, Neil Tennant, Andy Bell, Holly Johnson, Jimmy Sommerville, Marc Almond and Pete Burns were my queer heroes (and peers). And what a thrill it was to play their songs in the clubs I worked at during that era. And though Freddie Mercury was never officially out, we knew his truth. And his spirit rules this mix!

They're all here with some newer artists like Hercules & Love Affair, Ladyhawke, Gossip, Adam Lambert, Le Tigre, Scissor Sisters and Sia, who are all carrying the LGBTQ torch. And as I like to keep you dancing, this is a continuous 30-minute DJ mix.

With the beginning of this new year, we start with a super serial called "the roots of Italo Disco", where through 5 super mixes we will transport you to the year 1983, it was a time when some musicians in Italy spreaded worldwide the first masterpieces of Italo Disco Music.

Producers, writers, record labels and more, in small studios, were making some stuff that it was just for fun in some cases, the beginning of a good bussiness for others, and some just as a hobby and open a path in music on those years.

They never could imagine that after almost 40 years, many of them are admired and respected, but most of all, legends of the best music that Italy has ever created: The Italo Disco.

Con l'inizio dell'anno nuovo, inizieremo con una Super Serie di 5 Mix chiamata "Le radici della Italo Disco" e vi trasporteremo nel 1983 quando alcuni musicisti in Italia lanciarono i primi capolavori italiani in tutto il mondo.

Produttori, scrittori, cantanti, etichette discografiche e altro ancora, in piccoli studi hanno creato quello che per alcuni di loro era solo un divertimento, per altri era l'inizio di un'attività redditizia e, per altri ancora, solo un hobby per crearsi uno spazio nella musica di quegli anni.
