Basically Cuban, this lively and colorful tune was quickly adapted by the gypsies to the style of Flamenco. It became a featured dance of the late Carmen Amaya. The word "Guajiro" mean peasant person or country person, usually associated with people that pick sugar cane.

Maestro René Heredia is from Granada, Spain and is a direct descendant of the gitano flamenco puro tradition as passed down to him by generations of his gypsy family. He has performed with the greatest flamenco artists of his time including Carlos Montoya, Carmen Amaya, Sabicas, El Guito, El Farruco, José Greco, Paco de Lucia, and many others.
