Karan Khanna - Dance With The Groove

LENSKE’s first release by Farrago, “Risin”, comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. The EP’s A side is packed near 12 minutes of crisp machine driven techno with Farrago’s rattling peak-time “The Riddler” being the first to puncture. The title track, “Risin”, will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP’s other tracks. Lens’ signature sultry vocal samples on the B side’s “Jealousy” draw the contours of a jaw grinding banger, while “Hidden Power” rounds out the release with a blaring dance floor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement. Following on from the steamroller that was 'Carnival of Souls', Respekt's top brass are back with a fresh two-tracker. 'Gates of Dawn' gets the ball rolling with a hefty tip of the cap to Spektre's ravey roots. Searing, gated sawtooth riffs are peppered with breakbeat chops and of-the-era vocal hits to devastating effect. 
The second part of this double A-side is the more introspective 'Something Inside Us', on which the duo keeps the energy levels high, blending mesmerising, acidic melodies with cinematic pads and a scene-setting vocal sample.
The remix package adds yet more colours to the release's palette, with top notch reinterpretations from Loco & Jam and Vinicius Honorio.

A testament to the growth of Adam Beyer’s scene-leading label, Drumcode annual A-Sides Vol.8 is the brand’s biggest yet.

The 25-track strong compilation features standout cuts Beyer has received over the last 12 months, but been unable to find room for in Drumcode’s regular release schedule, such is the volume and high standard of music that’s submitted.

The highlight-rich compilation includes Jamie Jones & Darius Syrossian’s buzzy Drumcode debut ‘Eyes of the Night’, Nicole Moudaber’s first DC release in 5 years with the mesmerizing ‘This Is Us’, Will Clarke’s bass-drenched re-work of Adam Beyer & Bart Skils ‘Your Mind’ and Joey Beltram’s first Drumcode release in 11 years with the retro-tinged ‘Can You Feel It’. 

The beloved Alan Fitzpatrick returns to the fold with the searing ‘Heiße Rakete’, alongside label mainstays Layton Giordani, who drops the stirring chord-driven ‘Chrome’ and Wehbba with ‘Mantra’, combining techno classicism with future-focused groove.

There’s a troupe of debutants donning the Drumcode jersey for the first time, including BEC, Shelley Johannson, Anthony Castaldo, Avision, Zimmz, Woo York, SAMA (in a terrific collaboration with Secret Cinema) and Ilija Djokovic, who delivers a shimmering highlight with ‘Aura’, a particular favourite of Beyer’s over the last year. Raxon also debuts on the label after a couple of quality additions to the Truesoul back catalogue.

Exciting young guns Weska and Juliet Fox bring heat to the compilation, while Veerus and Timmo follow up strong DC releases with a repeat dose. Elsewhere faithful contributors Ramon Tapia, Jay Lumen, Luca Agnelli, Marco Bailey and Mark Reeve craft powerful dancefloor weapons.

Felix Krocher & Cari Golden - Infinite [ Wex 10 ] Remix

'Italy’s renowned DJ and label owner, Frankyeffe returns on July 20 with a blistering remix of TLA’s 1991 classic ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ out via his own Riot Recordings label. 

Having previously featured on the likes of Senso Sounds, JAM, We Are The Brave, Filth On Acid, Tronic, Kraftek and Terminal M, Frankyeffe continues to make his mark with his Riot Recordings label. Following hot off the heels of ‘Skin’ - his recent collaboration with Germany’s BRUNA, Frankyeffe returns with yet another essential addition to his ever-expanding catalogue this time revisiting and re-working an Italian techno classic.  

TLA’s ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ was originally released in 1991. Coming at the dawn of the techno scene in Italy, TLA was the brainchild of DJ Massimo Salustri and musician Marco Merelli. As the first raves were happening Techno started to take its grip on the nation, especially in Rome, where TLA was born. ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ was a huge track in these early days of Italian techno, and one that Frankyeffe remembers having a massive influence. “It’s very different listening to the original now compared to back in 1990 – but it takes me back to a very happy time, a very different world to the one we find ourselves in now.”  

Having recently re-discovered the track during one of his lockdown vinyl streams Frankyeffe was blown away how good it still sounded and thought it would be fun to put his own take on it. “It all started with records like this”, says Frankyeffe. “When I listened to the vinyl after such a long time and it was still sounded so good, I knew I wanted to make a 2020 version. I wanted to show my love and respect for the original but also put my own spin on it.”  

Frankyeffe’s remix of Thank God It’s Friday will be available digitally from 20th July.   '

UMEK is back on his label 1605 with another stomping two tracker in his usual style of peak time techno with powerful melodies and thundering percussion.

After recently collaborating with The YellowHeads, this new one is a solo effort from UMEK who remains one of 2020’s best selling techno producers.

1605 continues to be the main outlet for UMEK’s music, but his impressive back catalogue includes classic releases on influential labels. More recently his tracks can also be found on Terminal M, Tronic, Suara and Filth On Acid.

“Intricately” kick starts proceedings with its throbbing sub bass and titanic groove cemented by an explosive kick drum. After revealing an understated melody part that that morphs into something of a monster as it unfolds, the already ferocious track changes gears in the breakdown to hit the home straight in vigorous style.

Taking its title from the vocal sample, “Astronaut Program” focuses in on the euphoria of an arpeggiating lead synth that adds an uplifting contrast to the otherwise dark atmosphere. The fast-paced rhythms of its techno backing track give it a relentless energy perfect for causing maximum impact on the dance floor.
