With 'Iyewaye', the first solo-EP after the release of his fifth album 'I am OK' last year, Oliver Koletzki shows himself in a new, but not altogether unfamiliar light: since his breakthrough in 2005 with 'Der Mückenschwarm' Koletzki hasn't sounded this hard. 	

Gone is the pop-angle, replaced by a dark sound-aesthetic and raw energy. But even here, in the Techno realm, Oliver Koletzki demonstrates his inimitable sense for melody: thus, the gloomy and driving framework of 'Iyewaye' is lit up by a crystal-clear synth-sequence. Similarly, 'Ipuza', which hypnotizes by way of reduction and repetition, is funky in its core thanks to a rolling tribal groove. Functional, but with heart and soul.

Revered live duo act Channel X showcase their acuminated production skills with their latest output. Aptly entitled 'X', the new EP marks a decade of the Berliners leaving their mark on the tech house scene. Opening track 'Out of control' draws you in immediately with its metallic percussion subdued by grave synths and deep horns, while the whispered, almost non-existent vocal sample adds to its overall deep and dark aesthetic. With its rolling bass-line ,"Refugia” seems to be the perfect club follow-up to ease the built-up rhythmic tension, while the Australian artist Uone gives the track an even lighter, energetic makeover. Despite its name, "Glowing" takes us on a dungeon ride by means of heavy hitting percussion, whilst Audiojack pump it with a dose of high-pitched fidgety synths for their killer remix.

Over the years, Oliver Koletzki has continuously cited Berlin as a point of reference and, more importantly, a source of inspiration. Two of his albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 have been a direct ode to the capital. Friedrichshain, one of Berlins vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Olivers heat. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Schneeweiss, one of Friedrichhains best and most loved restaurants, is just around the corner. Over the course of eight years, the stylish eatery has impressed many a Berlin foodie with its contemporary take on alpine cuisine and attention to detail. 

Music is part of the experience here, which is no surprise due to one of the owners extensive background in Berlins club scene of the early days. Pairing striking award-winning interior design with a homely laid-back atmosphere, Schneeweiss welcomes everyone with open arms: Kiez locals and celebrities, students and businessmen, hipsters and families all can be found here, Oliver Koletzki among them. French artist Lox D and Montreal based artist Van Did have teamed up on this EP. Combining their talents for building immersive and emotional tracks, the duo have released a collaboration on german label, Traum Schallplatten, a little ago

Lox D and Van Did's music has found support from the likes of Stephan Bodzin, Hernan Cattaneo, Moonbeam, Gabriel & Dresden and Deepfunk, Elena is a good example of their unique, multilayered sound. Warm bassline, enchanting pads and escalating melodies make for an epic opener. Miller is a groovy and progressive composition yet powerful and uplifting.

French artist, Teho, deliver a beautiful and captivating remix of Elena, this young artist from Montpelier has been catching international attention with very solid releases on labels such as Herzblut, Parquet and Manual Music.

Completing the release is remix by FEM, Nantes based DJ and producer who deliver a killer and uplifting rework that retains the energy of the original.

„Amygdala“ is Koze’s Sgt. Pepper. It’s an unreal 78-minute walk through Koze’s mind, complete with moods, intensities, sounds and scenes as yet unheard of. It feels more like a double album, urging you to turn over and change the records time and time again. "Amygdala" amazes by its sheer musicality, deepness, and its  ethereal sound design; it’s a kaleidoscope of a great variety of soundscapes where you keep discovering new nuances even after listening to it a thousand times. Nobody else could unite artists like Caribou and Dirk von Lotzow, Hildegard Knef and Mathew Dear, Ada and Milosh in such an organic way and on one and the same record as Koze did. There’s never been anything like it.

He weaves new garments around the a capella parts of his guests, garments that only he can tailor, and that’s how the album, for all the diversity of its artists, sounds consistently homogeneous and in the true style of Kosi Kos. It’s all about “the courage to dare”, about letting voices resonate undisguised in all their authentic peculiarity.  About creating  truthfulness.

How much can you cut out, when does the flame die down? On the other hand, under which circumstances could it even burn for ever?

The album, which in large parts has been composed in a Spanish fishing village, starts off with Balinese gamelan sounds from which a relaxed discoid bass peels off, caressed by mystic backwards basslines, balafon resonances and slide guitar chords. You can hear the ceaseless chirping, twittering and cheeping from all the treetops of Koze's exotic jungle.
