With the initial vision of the track forming just under a year ago, Finster has been allowing time to understand the essence of the track and navigate the emotions fueling it. He uses his own vocals to share his internal struggle between holding on to fears and releasing them in regards to a past relationship. While these vocals were frustrating at times for a musician who doesn’t often sing, they also became Finster’s favorite component of the track because of the melodies, harmonies, and personal message.

Finally releasing this dubplate, inspired by the classic Motown break beat from the Winstons 'Amen Brother' (yeah the one everyone uses), and the music that stemmed from it.  

I had actually considered postponing this release in solidarity of the protests current happening in the united states, to keep the airwaves clear for the people involved so that their voices have the space they need. However, since I live in rural predominantly white state where there aren't many opportunities to act directly, I decided to use this EP as a small way to help ease some of the financial burdens of those fighting for their basic human rights. 

All of the tracks on this release are HEAVILY inspired by music created and pioneered by black musicians, and as a white male, I acknowledge how privileged I am to have lived in the safety that my privilege affords. Additionally, the white majority I belong to has co-opted numerous musical movements originating from black musicians, so it is very important to take the time to respect and honor the creators(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amen_break). 

Because of this, I will be donating my portion of all Bandcamp sales to the BLM movement and the ACLU. I chose Bandcamp because it is by far the largest source of record sales for myself  and because the funds are available immediately, rather than some 3-4 month quarterly lump sum later this year and the movement needs support NOW. I will also be matching this amount personally(up to $500.00 because I can't afford more sadly). If you'd like to learn more about these organizations, you can find links below. 

We are all human beings and we all deserve basic human dignity. The US govt and US police force have been violating and abusing our black neighbor's rights since this country's inception, a practice that cannot be allowed to continue. a couple of weeks ago i decided to "remix" a tune from the 2000s that i liked a lot. at first, the main bassline seems to be the core of the track, but it quickly evolves into something bigger, surrounded by ideas which stemmed from the original track without having any direct connections to it. because this meant restructuring the entire track, i felt like the term "vision" was more appropriate than "remix", since it encapsulates my vision of what this song would sound like if it was produced today, as well as my visions of how i would musically interpret the song title "uptight".
