Techno legend Dave Angel drops ‘Glide’ on Radio Slave’s Rekids this January.

Dave Angel was a regular on Brixton-based pirate radio station Phase One in the late ‘80s and an integral part of the UK Techno scene ever since, remixing the likes of Underworld, Orbital, and Model 500, and founding Rotation Records in the ‘90s. Turning his sights to Radio Slave’s essential Rekids for his latest release, the iconic DJ/producer prepares a heavy duty two-tracker for the label, dropping in early 2023.

Title cut ‘Glide’ leads the release with flanged hi-hats, evolving synths, and rocking low-end combining to form a club-shaking hit. On the flip, ‘Peekaboo’ combines dub-techno-inspired chords with wonky samples and pumping drums for a warehouse-filling B-side.

Drawing inspiration from oldschool techno and his roots in house, Amsterdam based and Dublin raised Jack Jennings has showcased his music on labels across Europe and beyond with releases on Twice Infinity, ALU, Rave Your Soul and Orbital Oscillaton to name a few. His style can be summarised as an amalgamation of both genres, with the inclusion of vocal hits, sharp stabs and bouncy drums combining to create the core rhythm of his tracks.

‘Bang The Box (Slam remix)’ retains the all-conquering vocal of the original, but plunges the track down into propulsive depths with more aggressive percussion and atmospheric synth stabs. 

Richie Hawtin provided the following comment on the remix: “Released in the early 90s, the original Jack Master EP was a pseudo-name that I used to record fun classic Chicago inspired tracks that were made for my DJ sets.  Slam’s new updated take on the original, uses the original voice sample (that’s actually mine) and reworks the track into a full throttle stomping jack track perfect for todays dance floors!”
