Activo en la escena musical desde principios de los años 80, ha grabado numerosos discos como acompañante y como líder habiendo estado premiado en diversas ocasiones como mejor solista, mejor disco y mejor director. Entre sus trabajos más destacados se encuentran las grabaciones con Tete Montoliu, Bebo Valdés, Jack Walrath, Idris Muhammad y los hermanos Rossy entre otros. También es profesor de saxofón y conjunto en el departamento de jazz  de la Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya y en El Musical de Bellaterra.

Initially this was supposed to come out on the HOUSE MASTERS FRANKIE KNUCKLES Compilation on Defected.
To make a long story short... it never did, I was given the blessing from Judy Weinstein (Def Mix Productions Founder) along with Hector Romero to do as I please with this version.
I did this with my keyboardist Erik Deutsch the day after I attended Frankie Knuckles funeral because I felt like I needed to do something not just in his honor but to continue to raise awareness of who this ICON is and undoubtedly none of us house heads should ever forget.
The whistle song is what introduced me to his music so it was only right that I created a version that captured the soul & beauty of the original BUT I wanted to give it more of a BALLAD feel, a version WE CAN ALL USE to close out a great party in his honor when we have them or simply to just hear at your restaurant, lounge, chill/comfort zone.

So ENJOY THIS FREE DOWNLOAD and please play it when and where ever you can no matter where you are.

GOLDEN AGE OF CUBAN MUSIC
On January 8, 1959, Fidel Castro and his ragtag army marched into Havana and proclaimed victory in the Cuban revolution. Much of the world knew Cuba primarily from its 1930 megahit "El Manicero" ("The Peanut Vendor") and from the mambo craze of the 1950's. After Castro came to power, the economic, political and cultural doors between Cuba and the U.S. would soon be shut. The doors opened briefly for tours by Cuban artists in the U.S. under the Carter and Clinton administrations. They've shut again tightly under President Bush. What will happen in the new world of President Obama? Time will tell, but indications are that change is coming. In this encore broadcast, we savor sounds from the pre-Revolutionary golden age of Cuban music that sets the scene for the international success of Cuban music. We illustrate how popular music in Africa and the Americas is not imaginable without the influence of Cuban music--copied and adapted on three continents. We'll hear the stories and rare recordings of such core styles as son as well as luminaries such as Beny Moré, Arsenio Rodriguez, Celia Cruz and the Sexteto Habanero; along with less well known artists.

Reparto Caribe nace en Barcelona en el año 2009 de la mano del percusionista catalán Fran Palomo y el pianista argentino Cristian Torres.
Estos músicos, que comparten escenarios desde hace más de 6 años, decidieron crear un proyecto que destaque por su calidad y originalidad, donde pudieran crear y plasmar todo lo que la música les ha generado a lo largo de sus vidas.
A esta iniciativa se suman a mediados de 2011 Alberto P. (Catalunya), Mathieu A. (Francia), Alain M. (Cuba), y Paco P. (Gran Canarias), reconocidos y grandes talentos del panorama musical nacional que con su gran aporte, consiguen dar a Reparto Caribe un sonido único y diferente.
Con esta nueva formación, este grupo está últimando los detalles de “Alma y clave“, el nuevo disco compuesto de temas originales, donde estos músicos dan rienda suelta a su creatividad, utilizando sus recursos favoritos del Latin Jazz (y otros géneros) dándole así un sonido original, fresco y sofisticado desde su alma.
