Proton Premiere: Cemode - Newt [Deep House Belgium]

A young producer with both the talents and character to succeed in a demanding and cutthroat industry, Pedro Caldeira has provided a real statement of musical intent with his Pete K production soubriquet and now his "Inner Circle 2" EP for Proton Music.

From the Lisbon capital on the mouth of the River Tagus, the Portuguese producer has continually pushed his own musical boundaries to create an evolving sound that showcases genuine passion and craft. Inspired by celebrated names including, Pryda and Olander, Caldeira has been able to hit upon a formula that crosses genre boundaries with ease, opening his sound up to a diverse listener base that grows with each passing release.

A rapidly expanding portfolio, primarily within the broad church that is progressive house, has thus seen the Pete K name allied to a raft of impressive imprints, not least Intricate Records where a clutch of production credits have provided a strong platform for tracks such as "Beyond" and "Nightshift". Furthermore, November 2016's "Azimuth/Nebula" EP for industry giant, Zerothree, has cemented a growing reputation with work of genuine quality. It is thus no surprise that the Pete K sound has been regularly supported by the DJ glitterati of Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold and Jaytech.

Running the monthly "Inner Circles" show on Proton Radio has provided a refreshing medium to stage Peter K's own production credentials along with the music that stimulates him. With a mission statement that includes "no labels, no colours and no boundaries", "emotive and timeless music" are in plentiful supply. It is therefore little surprise that when Pete K came to Proton Music with his strong and vibrant, "Inner Circle" EP in June 2016, the twin-track offering provided an assured and impressive debut for the label, going on to receive remixes from GMJ and Matter and legendary Greek producer, Dousk, at the end of the year.

As 2017 now fully opens its doors, Proton Music is delighted to announce the return of Pete K and his painstakingly constructed, "Inner Circle 2" EP with its underpinnings in Greek mythology. Opening track, "Andromeda", is redolent in the technique and unique sound that has established Caldeira as an artist of real force. Driving beat and percussive hi-hat urgency provides a strong backdrop for trademark emotive melodies to shimmer across the sonic spectrum, resonating in cascading, tear drop delays, as a spine-tingling bass line progression supplies dance floor dynamism. Building effortlessly with side-chained pads and flowing lead line, the third movement sees the track reach a rousing crescendo in striking fashion.

Partner track, "Perseu" is replete with references to the Greek hero as shuffling hi-hat rhythms are paired with reverb-drenched woodblock percussion. A subtle and cavernous grooved bass line makes its presence felt as sumptuous pads provide texture and depth; melodic lines shimmer and meander across the upper frequencies. As hypnotic as Medusa's eyes, rhythmic and bass prowess captures listener attention with a body-shaking, dance floor groove that resembles Cid Inc. while filtered arpeggios and gated synth lines bring additional interest. The result is a sultry, brooding track that bristles with electricity.

Expanding his "Inner Circle", Pete K has delighted once again with music that is no longer the industry's best-kept secret.

Andromeda (Original Mix)

"The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Li-Polymer back to the label for a brand new EP. The Portuguese artist last appeared on the Greek with a remix of 'Undiscovered Highway' by Erdi Irmak. Also finding a home on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music earlier this year, Li-Polymer now returns to Movement Recordings for his much anticipated 'Mysticism' EP, alongside remixes from Jamie Stevens and Interaxxis.

Beginning with the title cut 'Mysticism' you immediately get a feel for what the Li-Polymer sound is all about. Unique beat patterns combined organic percussion and dreamy themes make for a lovely beginning. It's unconventional storyboard breeds anticipation, as velvety textures and cosmic effects bring an esoteric air. Kaleidoscopic chimes brighten the atmosphere, ultimately leading to the tracks centrepiece. Haunting and emotive in equal measure it caps off what might be a career best production for Li-Polymer thus far. The companion piece 'Phoebus' comes in equally refined and a touch more enigmatic. It's stripped, punchy groove is a delight with cosmic trails and shifty rhythms leading to a reservoir of emotive sonics. It's a piece built on restraint and refinement , deeply engaging and perfect for a late night dance floor. Two stunning creations with depth, character and a refined sonic space. Li-Polymer continues to amaze.

The lone interpretation of 'Mysticism' is provided by Jamie Stevens who is making his first appearance on Movement Recordings. Much revered, the Australian artist has a career spanning over two decades, highlighted by his work with Infusion and a solo career which includes releases on Bedrock, Lost & Found, microCastle and Sudbeat. His borderless approach to production has made him a favourite amongst both techno and progressive DJs alike, with John Digweed and Guy J being two of his biggest supporters. Jamie's expansive creative palette is revealed once again on his 'Mysticism' interpretation. It's deep, techno inspired beginnings are both meditative and anticipatory, with fragmented didgeridoos and mystical effects creating a psychedelic storyboard. Underlying tension builds, sizzling as the centrepiece unfolds, where the main theme flourishes and warped tones arrive with just right esoteric touch, sealing what is ultimately an intense yet emotional journey from one of the underground's most creative talents.

The lone interpretation of 'Phoebus' is provided by Interaxxis who are returning to Movement Recordings for their second appearance. Argentinean artists Emiliano Folgar and Martin Kazez make up the Interaxxis duo and first appeared on the Greek imprint in August of last year with a remix of 'Patterns' by Erdi Irmak. Now following releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, Interaxxis make a much welcome return to Movement and close the release out with a spectacular rendition of 'Phoebus'. The duo's knack for carving out warm, round grooves has never been more apparent with a buoyant foundation anchoring the piece. Beaming with positivity, playful rhythms and rolling drums create a momentous cadence moving forward. Timely transitions shift energy beautifully over the first act before a tension filled break resets the groove for a stunning dance floor moment. A pure progressive take and a great complement to the original.

An exceptional return to Movement for Li-Polymer and perhaps one of the label's most inspired releases all year. Don't miss it."

Mysticism

Li-Polymer - Mysticism (Jamie Stevens Remix)

Dutch master Paul Hazendonk returns to the label with 'The Thoughts'. His last outing back in November of 2016 was received to high acclaim. On his long-awaited return to ICONYC, Paul delivers a slice of early spring vibes titled ‘The Thoughts’. 

The original kicks things off nicely with its melancholic moodiness shining through as we meander effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sultry chords sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth which are an integral component in the Paul Hazendonk production sound, as melodic techno, deep and progressive house are closely tied to sensations ranging across the spectrum from melancholy to delight.

Framewerk, famed for their intricate and refined productions created a rework full of tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up we have Kamilo Sanclemente & Golan Zocher, who have been tearing up dance floors with their recent productions. They keep the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear yet sounding fresh - This mystical touch up takes the energy levels up a notch but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious pads grace the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove.

Premiere: Stage Van H - Doxologia (Simply City Remix) [Movement Recordings]

Making their 2019 full release debut for Sudbeat are the dynamic duo of Gabriel Rocha & Juan Carlos Villalba, better known as Tiefstone. Theirs is a story that involves deep beats, alluring melodies and large helpings of funk. Breaking into the scene in 2015, their rise has been exponential with tracks already signed to Saved Records, Bedrock and two appearances on the Showcrates series.

In its original form, ‘Lestat’ is a powerful, deep synth-led progger. On a bed of crisp percussive rhythms, a repeating phrase running throughout intertwines with pads and sonics to weave a personal journey towards the stratosphere. On remix duties, Rick Pier O’Neil takes us down a darker, ethereal path towards the earlier hours of the morning while label manager Graziano Raffa turns in a lighter, xylophone-led version filled with warm, summery feels.
