Australia's Eric Lune is slowly carving a name for himself with highly exquisite productions that feel futuristic, whilst staying true to the progressive ethos of the early 00's: lots of groove, highly melodic and always affecting. He debuts on Balance Music with a three track EP that serves as an excellent showcase of a producer on the rise.

The bubbling bass on 'Predisposition' features an uplifting edge that propels the track into exciting spaces. The lovely vocal FX that reminds of Underworld at their euphoric best is peppered throughout, leading to a sublime melodic breakdown that is hugely uplifting. This is proper progressive house.

On 'Rover' shimmering synths ride on top of engaging FX that showcase Lune's advanced engineering skills. It slowly builds towards a melodic crescendo and a breakdown that keeps swelling to a breaking point. The thick, off beat bass and warm kick all add to the overall 10/10 vibe.

'Midnight Jam' is aptly named. Energetic synths play against a determined groove that adds up to make a joyful production. Layers of melodies are introduced as it progress into a massive breakdown filled with attention grabbing moments.

"Following the success of August 2021’s debut compilation series, and a first volume featuring six original tracks from a stellar cast of international talent, GMJ & Matter now return with a thoroughbred 10-track sequel in “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 2”.
 
Presenting a global dance party with artists from across the continents, from North and South America to Europe, Australasia and Asia, the second instalment of the “Meanwhile Excursions” series combines an array of established talent with up-and-coming nubreed artists who shine a bright light on the progressive house genre.
 
Opening with the deep bass groove of “Negev”, Colombian star, Golan Zocher, and label head-honcho, GMJ, blend their talent with a delicate ambience that shimmers across its 8-minute time fame with textured pads and flowing soundscape. Mango Alley favourite, Forty Cats continues with the smooth sounds of “Mutualism” as hypnotic rhythms and bass groove propel things forwards, while Andrés Moris creates club-friendly force via “Owen’s Dream”. Full of emotive chords progressions and twinkling arpeggios, a pulsating bassline makes for a beautifully assured debut.
 
Redolent in intricate percussive groove and juxtaposed with sumptuous synth arrangement, Tonaco’s “Setentrional” is a rhythmic tour de force that only pauses for breath at the beatless breakdown, while Dowden’s first of two offerings is a typically impressive offering with “Halstatt” glittering via earworm motif that melds with freeform counterpoint sequence as it evolves through a flurry of white-noise fills and mesmerising presence.
 
A slow-burning jewel that combines strong rhythmic force with running bassline presence, “Retro” finds Ivan Aliaga showcasing an evolving melodic tapestry that waxes and wanes with ease, while “Misanthropy” is another rhythm-fuelled affair that demonstrates why NOIYSE PROJECT is a name currently on the lips of the progressive cognoscenti with his club-friendly groove and ear for melodic emotion. Moving forwards, the low-slung groove of EMPHI’s “The Box” helps to generate a brooding wall of sound that builds in tension-filled phases that rise and fall in ever-evolving synth work and stereo-panned white-noise effects.
 
The second track from Dowden see him join forces with Meanwhile’s other co-founder as the immaculate production credentials of Matter see beautiful piano phrases glitter across “York”, fully exposed at the mid-point where reverb-drenched and delay-soaked chords vie for space with a dynamic rhythmic backdrop and ticking hi-hat percussion. Ending as it starts, smooth melodic patterns flow from the fingertips of Gorkiz and Distro in cascading layers of dreamy sonic passages that create a coruscating mosaic of sound atop the blistering rhythmic energy of “Staring at the Sun”.

Argentina is a country with a celebrated progressive house heritage. One of the key figures at the inception of the movement was Marcelo Vasami. First hitting the scene in 2005, the Buenos Aires-based artist quickly became one of the genre's most recognizable names, eventually showcasing his music on Sudbeat and Hope Recordings. He continues to be one of his country's most popular DJs, having shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Replug label boss Cid Inc. Having debuted on Replug in 2011, Marcelo now makes a long overdue return with a brand new EP entitled 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything'.

Original music from Marcelo has been scarce as of late, with his last project (a collaboration with fellow countryman Nicko Izzo) being released well over a year ago on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings. 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything' couldn't arrive with more anticipation and points to being the Argentine's career best work.  Entrancing soundscapes combined with a sub heavy groove and strong rhythmic elements set the piece in motion. Fading to prominence, a tasteful arp naturally evolves, allowing you to get lost in a sea of cosmic vibrations. Chilling moods resonate at the core of the centrepiece, building slowly with charismatic charm, before a rush of percussion sparks a powerful drop and seductive finale.

Returning once again to his esteemed imprint is Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc, who provides the lone interpretation of 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything'. An eventful summer saw the Finnish artist with EPs on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Replug Records, the latter of which is still enjoying time in Beatport's progressive house chart, now four months after its release. Cid Inc's vivid imagination and uncanny sense of club dynamics brings 'A Fantastic Fear Of Everything' even closer to a peak time dance floor. The ebb and flow of its energy is engaging, as a rolling full bodied groove, redemptive rhythms and avant-garde sci-fi textures unite in perfect harmony for this synth-driven scorcher. Already a highlight in Cid Inc's recent sets across the world, it's now set to be one of the biggest and most sought after progressive house tracks as 2017 winds to a close. 

The companion piece 'Plot' showcases a deeper, darker side of Marcelo's studio repertoire. Quirky, tough and a touch subversive it's an interesting contrast in mood and design. Primed for dance floor destruction, its funked-up progressive attitude is powerful with enticing strokes, buzzing effects and ghostly vocals adding their own melancholic touch. It perfectly completes the release which now sits as Marcelo's most accomplished work to date.

Marcelo Vasami - A Fantastic Fear of Everything (Cid Inc. Remix)

With their first collaborative project Artfaq and Ezequiel Arias land on Cid Inc's Replug Records with 'Babel'. Hailing from Cordoba, Nacho Ferroni and Nacho Varela make up the Artfaq production team. The Argentinean duo have found favour amongst progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while finding a home on Antrim's rapidly rising Or Two Strangers imprint. Similarly, upon making his debut in 2013, Cordoba resident Ezequiel Arias quickly became a favourite of the two storied DJs as well, eventually leading to releases on Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, Sudbeat Music and Suara. Also a member of the Replug artist roster, Ezequiel made his label debut in November of 2017 with a contribution to the 'Defined 01' collection. Now making a welcome return to the Finnish imprint, Ezequiel pairs with label debutants Artfaq for a highly anticipated EP. 

Comprised of two tracks it's the title piece 'Babel' which leads the release off.  Putting your emotional centres on high, a bed of warm beats and hip swinging rhythms set the stage for a full, driving groove. Redolent effects add an astral charm as the first act unfolds, while fragmented melodies are gently teased as the main break commences. Coming to full realization yet tastefully indistinct, it's a musical narrative for the astute connoisseur, delivering a profound emotional message before smoothly transitioning into a groovy finale. 

Rounding out the EP is the equally stunning 'Polaroid'. In crafting a smooth rolling groove, the Argentinean trio have fashioned a strong foundation, complemented with hypnotic pulses and percussive drive. Charming in design and emotive in delivery, harmonic phrases slowly engulf the framework, carrying the piece into joyous second act. As the bassline melts down, melodic motifs converge, opening up for moments of exuberant warmth and hopeful reflection, before a pulsating final act unites rhythm and groove for devastating dance floor dynamics.  It caps off a hugely successful collaborative project from three of Argentina's most highly touted artists. A meeting of music minds where the end result further cements Replug's ethos of delivering unique and exciting projects.

Roger Martinez's Higher States imprint continues a strong start to their journey by welcoming GMJ to the label for his debut EP. Based in Melbourne, Australia GMJ aka Gavin Martin has been a primary figure in the progressive house scene for over a decade. His passion for deep and emotive electronic music has seen him land releases on the industry's most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music to Cid Inc’s Replug Records and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, it's GMJ's storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre's most discerning fans. Now following an EP for US conglomerate Proton Music, GMJ debuts on Higher States with the much anticipated 'Enter Universe' artist showcase.

Spread across three tracks it's the warm, redolent grooves of the title selection which gets the release underway. The seven minute journey effortlessly melds organic percussion, arcane atmospheres and hazy harmonic concepts, for what results in a travelogue of mystical audio. Delicate yet powerful it perfectly sets the stage for the peak time flavoured 'Multiverse'. It's astral designs and percussion cadence prove instantly compelling, while a foundation of pulsating beats and electric rhythms continues to drive momentum forward. A cascading motif sits at the spiritual core of the piece, evocative and fluid, gently elevating mood with each successive pass, until elegantly peaking during a poignant final act. Rounding out the collection is the mid tempo 'Niloquai'. Highly creative, it's blend of clustered vocal fragments, spatial arps and textural drifts makes for an enticing storyboard, all playing out over waves of contoured bass and striking tonal design. Reflective in mood it caps off what is an impassioned collection of music from GMJ, one which sees him raise the bar once again and continue what has been an inspired year for the Australian producer. The Spanish artist @integralbread (Univack, Mango Alley, Movement) presents his new EP, with 3 original mixes, different from each other, but all of them with consistent grooves and complex melodies. As usual, Integral Bread uses elements of different genres, like Techno, House, Electro, Deep, Trance, with a progressive and melodic taste, combined  till to get an eclectic style making sense, in a timeless harmony.

The Brazilian artist and Timeless Moment's owner, @morttagua , offers a diferent versión of Tahiche, stronger, chunkier, darker and epicer. Perfect track to hit the dancefloor.

The master @nick_muir (Bedrock) brings us a special and genuin version of Collage, with a robust groove, unexpected variations and  an epic breakdown. A full of energy remix with a vintage taste that will go the dancefloor mad.
