One of our oldest friends prepared this mix for us recently, playing some records that remind him of us, records he showed us, records we showed him, records that we haven't heard before and an assortment of records that conjure up very vivid memories of times gone by. As the unofficial fifth member of 12th Isle, it's a surprise it has taken this long for Kenny White to grace us with a forecast. You can often find Kenny behind the counter at reckless records, a secondhand shop in central london, where he works with the legendary Christopher Bress. KW plays the Blackest Ever Black showcase at Corsica Studios next weekend, an event which happens to fall on his birthday. He'll take a guinness.

A lucid dream meeting of synth waves, aquatic jazz spirits and drum-triggered electronics. ‘Linha D'Água’ translates as ‘water lines’, fitting for an album that traces boundaries between water and air through an echo chamber of dizzying oceanic layers and free flowing ideas.

Mauricio Takara and Carla Boregas are two towering figures of the Brazilian underground/experimental scene, where they provide the rhythm section for demented genre-bending trio Rakta. While that band is all ritual percussion and red-blooded passion, as a duo they’re a blue-water flowing counterpoint. From the drums, Takara fires melodies and, with the synthesizer, Carla sculpts the sound. The result is caught somewhere between abstract improvisation and propulsive rhythm. Each song’s an organic layering of manipulated synthesizers and acoustic sounds; teasing new rhythms from the drum kit via MIDI (and a near-telekinetic bond between Carla and Mauricio).

Duppy Gun and Bokeh presents the huge debut statement from Okeme Robinson aka Gaza G Sudden, the second staple artiste in Duppy’s global dancehall project. Rolling with Duppy since 2013’s ‘Girls Dem Need Me’ debuted him into the world, G Sudden’s youth fire comes of age after lighting up the Portmore scene at Reggae Yard, Stop the Crime on Violence tour and Chopdawg Sundays.

Production comes from Richmond, BC (Canada via Manila) crew Seekersinternational who clashed with Duppy on 2019’s I Jahbar and Friends

CDMX Queen Smurphy releases her new Bokeh Versions EP "Spheres of Consciousness," flexing 5 ardkore x juke inspired helium neck-snappers transporting you to a higher states.The Spheres of Consciousness EP represents a rising up, an embracing of life. 
We’re lucky to be hearing from the NAAFI / Leaving Records affiliated, CDMX-based producer at all. She’d all but shelved music to focus on her health; suffering loss of mobility and chronic pain from a spinal birth defect (Spina Bifida Occulta). Until Smurphy came across breatharian literature about ‘living without food’.
There’s a deep link with rave’s central DNA - the dancefloor promise of reaching that higher state - and her ongoing health conditions. These five dancefloor destroyers are wordlessly encoded with the breatharian theory. Life goes though different levels of existence like a videogame, from the lowest level as hard minerals (‘Existence’), plant and fungi life resonates as ‘Growth’, animal life resonates as ‘Instinct’, human life runs on ‘Intellect’, the boss level is ‘Intuition’ - the highest non-material sphere. 
Clearly Smurphy is back, healthier than ever, and in control with collaborative dancehall productions with Duppy Gun artists coming in 2021, with more music and collabs to be announced.

Sydd Viscose is a DJ, promoter and radio host born and based in London. Alongside cultivating a broad ear covering a range of genres - from alternative groove to experimental IDM and industrial beats - Sydd Viscose’s work centres on campaigning for better equality in the music industry. She is the founder of VAMP Sonic - a platform spotlighting LGBTQIA+, non-binary and womxn artists working in experimental sound and music; the premise being to create a space for full-throttle release of sounds and to build and online & offline community for appreciators of unconventional sound. 

Since it’s beginning, the project has picked up interest from a number of platforms, with Sydd now hosting a monthly residency on Threads Radio, regular shows on Bristol’s Noods Radio (on both of which she’s hosted esteemed guests from around the world including Odete and Astrid Sonne) among a range of well-known radio stations worldwide from Glasgow’s Subcity to Berlin Community Radio to France’s LYL Radio, booking gigs at VFD and Low Profile Studios.



Having started out as part of renowned drag cabaret Pollyanna in Edinburgh, where she soundtracked avant-garde queer performances with disco, house, pop and club classics from the 80s and 90s - her sets continue to encompass these early influences and the euphoric queer sensibility grounded in these tracks.



After two sensational runs as a resident DJ for Pollyanna’s Fringe festival show, she went on to co-found Miss World, an all-womxn DJ collective and club night in Edinburgh, booking gigs around Scotland as well as a holding a monthly residency at Sneaky Petes - holding spots on lineups including Peach, Moxie and Nightwave. 

With over 5 years experience booking acts and curating lineups, her sharp curatorial skills and eye for detail are apparent in her unique track selections and ambitious mixing styles that bring both emotion and high energy. She approaches each mix as an evolving narrative, treating each sound as a tactile object with a specific role in taking you on a journey, one which you’re never sure where it’ll progress.

Chromasy takes another deep dive into experimental electronica sounds from chilling ambience to chugging EBM and big room breaks. In the middle of the show, he gave us a mix of tracks sent in from listeners of the show, with artists hailing from the Americas to various parts of Europe and Japan.

— Here is a showcase of my all time favorite tracks, music that made me want to open up my DAW of choice and start creating immediately.
From my childhood years, through the teenage years to now, music that totally transformed the way I hear music and pushed me forwards.
Mildly mixed-beatmatched, this one maybe makes super sense only to me but it's something I wanted to create.
