Bad Ninja is a Detroit-based jungle, drum and bass, and breakbeat DJ, as well as the founder of the underground event promotion company, Bad Ninjutsu Entertainment. Over the past four years, he has championed these genres in a city where techno, house, and dubstep dominate, curating events like his Tales from the Dojo series and Humpin' and Bumpin'. Bad Ninja has performed at numerous major events, including 808 Life Presents: The Get Down 1 and 2 during Miami Music Week, and provided direct support for The Caracal Project.

Recently, Bad Ninja has been exploring new ways to share his passion for jungle and breakbeats, focusing on sounds and tracks with a lighthearted, bouncy vibe that bring jazz and samba influences to the forefront. His aim is to revive real dancing on the dance floor—a fitting vision for the Research Agency Promo Mix series, where Bad Ninja shares his freshest picks for a feel-good jungle experience.

For our third installment, we welcome a true underground architect: Jeremy “Elation” Olsen, founder of the Family Tree Collective. A staple of Maryland’s electronic music scene, Olsen has spent nearly three decades cultivating a multi-generational community of artists, DJs, and creatives, rooted in the same spirit of unity and discovery that first called him to the dancefloor.

The seed was planted in the '90s Baltimore rave scene, where a feverish Thursday night at The Paradox set his path in motion. There at that iconic staple of Baltimore club history, he found more than music—he found belonging. What started as a personal journey soon grew into something greater: a movement, a family. The Family Tree Collective was born, its roots deep in the underground, its branches spanning generations.

For MIX003 Elation brings a forceful selection of Tech-House, blending groove-heavy selections with the precision of a seasoned DJ. Turn it up and get lost in the music.
