Fin Whale Calls are now being utilised to map ocean floors through seismic imaging. With Such loud calls, their sounds reflect back off the sea bed up to 1.2km deep, and give an impression of the structure of the Sea Bed.

A Representation of a decrease in frequency of 0.21 Hz. This is the interval in which Fin Whale Calls are decreasing in frequency per year as they adapt to changing ocean environments and anthropogenic sonic emission. Acidification of the oceans is one contributing factor as to why call pitch is changing, as lower frequencies propagate further in more acidified environs.
