A time of change has come about for the Dublin Based techno Artists. Following Conor's recent move to Australia, the pair have decided to sadly split. 

FUAM will continue as a solo project run by Tadhg Brennan hailing from Dublin. The name is derived from the Irish word for sound, which translates to ‘Fuaim’.

With previous releases on some notable labels including Ismus Berlin, Motz Berlin and Mainmise records. FUAM has a number of tracks including a final collaborative EP as a duo, forthcoming next month on a favourite label of the pair.

The sound of FUAM consists of fast paced, synth driven techno with an industrial influence, taking inspiration from producers such as Dax J, VTSS and Giant Swan to name a few.

Keep an eye out for FUAM in the months to come!

Today’s premiere showcases one of Ireland’s most promising techno DJs and producers Aero as he releases on the acclaimed Dublin-based imprint Research Label, titled ‘Through The Cracks’. This sonically varied composition highlights Aero’s capability for creating consistently top-drawer dance music ideal for dance floors far and wide.

Aero, who has become one of the most prolific Irish techno artists in recent times by means of grit and determination, is carving out a career wrapped around the foundations of purist techno in standout fashion. He boasts an array of quality releases on Blackaxon, Fever Records, Concrete Berlin and more, now adding a full EP with Research to his already impressive discography. Gaining overwhelming support from artists right across the industry such as Freddy K, Amelie Lens, Slam, Richie Hawtin, Marcel Fengler, Blasha & Allatt and so on. Aero’s knack for shelling out consistent releases is infectious and clearly shines through here once again.

The Dubliner’s punishing style of techno has been haunting Irish dancefloors for over half a decade, as Aero’s deep knowledge of the genre sees him weave through hard-edged and funk-laced cuts from various time periods with ease. Much of this has a direct influence on his own productions that can be heard in his latest ‘Through The Crack’ release and today’s premiere ‘Quiet Mind’ in particular. Sublime driving techno accompanied by a high degree of production quality ticks all the boxes necessary for this track. A truly sensual tune that leaves no choice but to move your body.

PREMIERE // Flores - Black Sheep [RES004]

Today’s premiere features esteemed techno DJ and producer Flores on Research with his Caught In The Middle EP which is set to release in full on January 23rd. The release consists of 3 original compositions accompanied by 2 remixes from MAV666 and Specific Objects. We are excited to showcase Flores’ first release of the year on one of Ireland’s most exciting techno labels.

Flores has done an impressive job at cutting his teeth as an in-demand DJ and producer over the years, playing an array of shows spanning all across the country, including Galway, Limerick, Offaly, Dublin and Waterford as well as shows in Dortmund and Berlin in Germany.

Flores has had an exciting 2023, where he supported the legendary Mauro Picotto in Galway and sold out a co-headline Shed Residents show with Mav666 as well as a sold-out solo Cork headline show. He also had the chance to perform at The Telegraph Building on St. Patrick’s Day in Belfast with blk., Aeron XTC and more on the bill. Not to mention a flurry of releases and appearances on some international mix series in the process.

Today’s premiere features Flores’ track ‘Caught In The Middle’ from his EP which is a dark and murky-sounding techno track that combines spooky atmospheres alongside his impressive production technique. Leaning into a mixture of fast-paced and old-school techno inspirations with his own compositional flair it makes for an intriguing listen throughout. The release is a combination of high-octane, driving tracks designed for dimly lit dancefloors. Check it out!

A huge day for us here at Research HQ as we can finally announce our first release Research 001. This has been in the works for the last 4 years and we have some massive stuff lined up 🖤⁠⠀

Our first release is comprised of two fundaments of the Irish Techno scene @DougCooney and @Rustal. These guys have been releasing quality Techno for as long as we can remember and they've come through massively on this one. ⁠⠀

Doug Cooney brings an original track to the table, the pounding techno weapon Receptive. A kick so big and beautiful it takes over the whole room. Perfectly spacey and driving, this full energy composition was built purposely for shredding walls and removing tops wherever it might be dropped. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Rustal takes up remix duties on this one and he has done an amazing job. A huge track that pushes and drags as a gnarly menacing synth cuts through classic percs and hats. High quality sound design a classic sounding track, made for the dancefloor. ⁠⠀

Next up were are delighted to finally welcome Snakebite 616 (@nathan-jones-1) to the Research Podcast.

Snakebite 616, formerly known as Nathan Jones, bring his ear for buoyant and euphoric techno combined with cosmic, spiralling melodies in equal measure. The mix takes you and a trip that is both relaxing and driving at the same time a beautiful balance to bring to the table.

You can feel the influences from moments felt on a dance floor in Dublin, through to the time Nathan spent both playing and dancing in the clubs of Berlin.

We can't go to a club at the moment, but Nathan can take you there.

For our first edition we welcome our label boss, District 8 & Index resident as well as the man in charge of closing out Fuinneamh festival every year, boss man Aeron.

With a serious reputation for his marathon sets, we thought it was only right to squeeze a 3 hour set from him. And we are very happy we did.

Aeron takes us through a whole world of immaculate Techno. A true journeyman Aeron manages to transport us instantly to a different universe, starting of deep and broken, bringing us through some nice hypnotic sounds and in and out of peak time dance floor as we travel along.
