‘Set It Off’ is an archetypal demonstration of the trio’s flair for creating depth within a production. Inspired by Strafe’s 1984 electro funk classic on the same name and spanning everything from retro-synths to techy elements the track is a true illustration of their wide musical compass, with an organic sounding guitar reflecting their early roots in punk music. Never ones to rest on their laurels, this cut is a further string to their evermore impressive bow, coming as it does at the tail end of Tuber & Berger’s most triumphant year to date with a momentum they will unquestionably carry on into the next.

Best known as half of post-classical / electronica duo Piano Interrupted, London based French producer Franz Kirmann goes back to his  electronic roots with “Meridians”, his second album, due out on Denovali Records next July.

Strongly influenced by movies (he used to be a film editor and filmmakers Wong Kar Wai, Michelangelo Antonioni, Sergio Leone or David Lynch are happily cited alongside his musical influences), Franz Kirmann has a weakness for walls of sounds and fragile melodies, which to him are the sonic equivalent of slow-motion sequences, travelling shots or landscapes in cinemascope.

While his first album – Random Access Memories (released in June 2011) - was a sort of compilation of music he'd written since 2005, “Meridians” is a more consistent proposition where tracks were put together using the same technique of assembling tiny audio snippets and samples with a strong emotional content (from a pop vocal to an orchestral extract) and transforming them beyond recognition, to then assemble them and create something new and unique.

Music was then composed from the resulting sampling manipulation, adding layers of vintage synthesizers, drum machines and granular soundscapes and resulting in a sound that could be best described as a meeting point between an 80's synthesizer soundtrack and a post-modern electronic record. 

The album title "Meridians" comes from the Chinese medicine's belief in the Meridian network, a path through which the life-energy flows. The album has a strong sense of an internal journey, the music being both an invitation to introversion and reverie but also suggesting an epic voyage. The meridians could be regarded as vessels carrying emotions, souvenirs, thoughts, travelling through the body and mind, provoking a voyage through one's own life without the need for movement.

Nods to the 7th art are not only found in the sound and feel of the album but also in its titles. Each of them suggest a story or moment while remaining vague enough to let the listener fills the blanks.

It’s Shantel meets The Specials –  a euphoric, biting satire on politics and Europe’s obsession with immigration, by Oi Va Voi founder and hit songwriter Lemez Lovas (‘Refugee’, ‘Yesterdays Mistakes’) and Ukrainian music king Yuriy Gurzhy from Berlin party kings Rotfront (signed to Shantel’s Essay label).

‘A Day In The Life’ tells the story of one uber-immigrant’s journey from his humble village (shtetl) towards his dream of fabulous wealth and opportunity in the mythical European Union.

Expect the soulful Eastern European melodies and pop choruses that gave Oi Va Voi their sound, plus the heavy dancefloor ska beat that have made Rotfront one of the most in-demand live bands around.  

The lyrics bite hard, with songs that take on 
Russian bride agencies (A Modern Matchmaker), marrying for documents (‘Schengen Visa Wedding’), illicit, underage love (‘Um Bye Bye’) and the traumas of getting rich quick (‘If I Wasn’t Such A Poor Man’).

The smash live shows are performed by an
 allstar UK/Ukrainian/German/Italian/Israeli band,
 including Brixton dub maestro Andrea Terrano 
(Twinkle, Mad Professor, the Good, The Bad & The Dub),
 in-demand soul vocalist Maiya James (Mark De Clive Lowe, Phil Asher, 
Kyoto Jazz Massive), keyboard whiz Toby Knowles (Left With Pictures), punk country bassman Paul Tkachenko (Hey Negrita) and funky New Orleans drummer Roy Pfeffer.


Produced by Lemez and studio partner Yaniv Fridel, the album features special guests slots from artists including:

RESH.G fait sa première rencontre avec les Raves Party à la fin des années 90. C’est donc tout naturellement qu’il intègre, début 2000, le DZ6TEM Crew, avec qui il organise des évènements et se retrouve régulièrement aux platines lors de fêtes innovantes et originales. Parallèlement à ses exactions sonores, il commence ses premières expérimentations sur des samplers, des boites à rythme et divers supports qui lui permettent de se familiariser avec la composition et le traitement du son.
Dès 2003, il produit des lives et des morceaux étonnemment matures et aboutis, bien qu’ils soient crées avec des moyens dérisoires et un équipement pas toujours adapté à ses ambitions artistiques. Cela ne l’empêche pas de se produire dans diverses free parties et teknivals en France et en Europe aux côtés de ses potes de toujours du sound system DZ mais aussi avec les Troubles Fêtes ou les Heretiks.
En 2008, il crée avec l’aide de quelques amis et d’un distributeur bien implanté le label DZ6TEM Records et enchaine 4 superbes opus en moins d’un an, ce qui lui vaut de se faire remarquer par de nombreux directeurs artistiques de labels hexagonaux comme CHAPATI EXPRESS, GLUMPK, OXYMOR, PSYCHOSOMATIK ou PAIN BEURRE Records ainsi qu’à l’international comme CRUX (USA) ou ELECTRO SUPERSTARS (Allemagne).
Très vite, les tourneurs et organisateurs de soirées s’intéressent à son cas: il se retrouve à l’affiche dans les clubs les plus pointus de l’underground parisien (Batofar, le Gibus, la Loco, La Machine, Glaz’art ou le Cabaret Sauvage où il partage l’affiche avec le célèbre duo allemand EXTRAWELT. Le bouche à oreille fait son job et il est très vite invité à sortir du cercle très fermé des soirées de la capital pour aller distiller des lives de plus en plus pointus dans les clubs et festivals de province (Toulouse, Grenoble, la Bretagne ou Chamonix sont sur sa carte).
Puis sa musique commence à passer les frontières. Il est désormais à l’affiche de nombreux évènements en Allemagne, au Cross Club, le temple de l’underground tchèque,en ITALIE ou encore à Bruxelles pour un set mémorable mélangeant musique tzigane et électro... En prévision, de nombreuses performances scéniques, un nouveau liveset composé de plus de Hardware ainsi que la production d’un album double Vinyle en étroite collaboration avec TOOLBOX prévu pour les beaux jours de l'année 2024... RESH.G c'est plus de 25 ep sortis en vinyles et a peu pres autant en sortie digitales depuis 2007 mais il est encore difficile de savoir jusqu’où son talent et sa soif de bon son pourront le mener....
