Here is a new mix I did while travelling to Armenia a couple of weeks ago. 

I did it on my phone in between the waiting room and boarding a plane in Warsaw with the software Djay Pro AI by Algoriddim.

On my phone I have thousands of tracks in high resolution, .aifs files.
 
The mix was recorded in CD quality in the software. 

I did use „sync“ and also some of the „AI crossfades“ to be able to record it flowingly and with all the tempo changes and while showing my boarding pass, literally. 

Even though this is a completely different approach from how I would mix in a club, I did really enjoy doing it this way, it wouldn’t be possible with conventional tools. 

I love music and technology and to try out new ways of recording stuff.

We’ve been sitting on this one for a bit, but we couldn’t hold out any longer—time to drop one of the standout moments from our absolutely mad NYE blowout! This is Vision 24 w/ Scuba, recorded live at our secret hideout in Neukölln.

With the room absolutely rammed and the ceiling dripping from the sweat and energy of everyone going full tilt into the new year, @scubaofficial smashed it with a high-energy techno set packed with acid heaters, electro bangers, and melodic vocal tracks that cut through the rawness perfectly. We recorded it with the mic on, so you’ll catch the occasional screams and claps from everyone fully losing it on the dancefloor. Probably the closest we could get to capturing how wild that rave went down, in one of the absolute peak moments.

Andrew Weatherall (1963-2020) was a highly influential British DJ, producer, and remixer, renowned for his eclectic taste and innovative approach to music. Emerging from the vibrant London music scene in the late 1980s, Weatherall became a pivotal figure in the development of the acid house and electronic music genres. He gained widespread recognition for his remix of the track "Loaded" by Primal Scream, which helped define the sound of the early '90s and contributed to the rise of the Madchester scene.

Weatherall's work was characterized by a unique blend of genres, seamlessly fusing elements of house, techno, rock, and post-punk. His productions often featured a raw, gritty aesthetic, reflecting his deep understanding of both the dancefloor and the underground music culture. As a DJ, he was known for his captivating sets that traversed a wide range of styles, captivating audiences with his ability to create a hypnotic atmosphere.

Beyond his work as a DJ and producer, Weatherall was also a respected label owner and a key figure in the independent music scene. His label, Rotters Golf Club, showcased a diverse array of artists and sounds, further cementing his legacy as a champion of innovative music.

Weatherall's impact on the music world is profound, and his contributions continue to resonate with artists and fans alike. His passing in 2020 was a significant loss to the music community, but his spirit and influence live on through his extensive body of work and the countless artists he inspired. 

As we publish this mix, it serves as a tribute to his enduring legacy and the inerasable mark he left on the world of music. Rest in peace!

The beloved German producer talks about finding inner peace, overstimulation and his new album on Pampa Records.

Mental health is a topic that comes up frequently in the music industry, but it's still not discussed enough among electronic music's top performers. In this RA Exchange, Stefan Kozalla—better known as DJ Koze—opens up about his battle with anxiety, self-doubt and rising expectations that come with being a long-standing, high-profile name. He talks about overstimulation, music as rest and the compromises artists need to make to have relevance and staying power.

Kozalla, a beloved and eccentric German artist who has developed a cult following over the course of his career, has productions on esteemed labels like XL, Kompakt, Cocoon, Warp, Ninja Tune and BPitch, which garner praise as soon as they're released. "Every time DJ Koze comes out of the woodwork to drop a 12-inch—or even just a remix—we usually end up hearing it everywhere for months on end," wrote former RA editor Andrew Ryce.

Kozalla talks to RA contributor (and former editor) Matt Unicomb about his production process and early influences—an uncanny combination of Basic Channel and Public Enemy—as well as his forthcoming album, Music Can Hear Us, coming out on Pampa Records on April 4th.
