If Field Maneuvers was a spaceship, Local Group (@wearelocalgroup) would be the rocket boosters: extremely heavy, highly flammable, essential for lift-off – yet, tragically, doomed to part ways at high altitude. The twin propellants of Joe Nonlocal (@ecstasygaragedisco) and L Major (@lamjor) have played every FM since day dot, pumping the dome with the noxious fumes of British rave excellence and even releasing their own tribute to the festival’s beloved Sputnik stage (2018’s ‘Laser Dome’ EP on Ritual Poison). But after 10 years together, they’ve finally uncoupled from the FM payload – though both of them will be back at FM 2025, playing sets right next to each other (Joe Nonlocal b2b Angel D'Lite (@angeldlite) and LMajor flying solo. 

On this farewell mix, captured deep inside the Sputnik laserfog in 2023 (sadly 2024's set recording got disrupted by the powercut) smiley faces explode from rushing breakbeats, boyracer basslines swerve between diva vocalchops, fairground wurlitzers pump up the jams, and Missy Elliott sends us a voicenote after a particularly good balloon. This is the spirit of ‘92 – not as cheap nostalgia, but as an eternal code to abide by. Shades on, cig lit: everything is energy.

As their voyage comes to an end, look out for a small asteroid shower of the recent 'Quantacid' release on Dead Trax and the upcoming Maximum Airtime (that one features a remix from hardcore ledge Jerome Hill) as well as new solo music from both of them, with Joe expanding his Corporeal Face alias.

Joe offered some parting words: “Local Group are heading for different parts of the universe – at least for the time being. It’s been a journey beyond our dreams since we got the name from a book called Cosmos, reading it in a basement flat in Clapton. We’ve got to meet and play alongside heroes such as 2 Bad Mice, Mark Archer and Manix, plus too many others to name. We’ve supported Grooverider and seen what’s on Groove’s rider: a bottle of Grey Goose.

Massive gratitude to everyone who’s been behind us along the way, booked us, danced, bought and played our music. Special thanks to Wavey Garms for championing us throughout. And, of course, our eternal love to Field Maneuvers, where it all started and grew. After a power cut plunged Sputnik into darkness during our FM set last summer, it felt like the cosmos’ way of telling us to end it there too. Hardcore will never die, but we all will. Make the most of it.”

London-based Oblig's (@djoblig) sound is closely intertwined with the rich DNA of UK club culture. Bass, garage, grime and techno all influence his robust rhythms, whether he's going dark at 140 bpm or hypnotising with sleek techno. His label Obligated Records and regular shows on Rinse FM are extensions of that, as are his razor-sharp DJ sets across the world.

Hot on the heels of Volume 2 of his label's latest compilation, he's put together an hour mix that smudges the lines between his go-to genres. The selections are punchy and uptempo while twisting through mysterious late-night grime, kinetic club cuts and pneumatic bass workouts, all with a constant low-end pressure that keeps lips curled and heads nodding.

For Tectonic’s 20th anniversary, label boss Pinch rounds up some heaters from the label alongside their Tectonic Sound compilation. Spinning the whole bass spectrum, Pinch goes from broiling two step to scrubbing grime, with frazzled pulse discharging great energy beside Trim’s idiosyncratic, expressive raps. Lighter moments like the whizzing, zipping, euphoric arpeggios of Peverlist’s ‘Feel Something’ are offset by guttural moody bass, travelling from the club convergence of rattles and tings and brightly resonating metals on Bohdi’s ‘Bellcurve’ to the heavy rotating bass of J. Sparrow’s ‘L33T SP33K’, with slippery dub lasers echoing out.

The debut co-op release by DIRTY GLASSEZ and N95 brings together the best of both worlds, combining a melancholic atmosphere with ghetto tech/footwork aesthetics.

CLOUDTEK reworks the aesthetics of the digital positivity and glossy futurism of the 2000s into a more mature, minor key form. Simple ringtone vaporwave melodies take on a thoughtful sound, shimmering in an ambient haze. Drums borrowed from ghetto genres add a special energy to the music.

At the intersection of two extremes — lively ghetto and airy futurism — cloudtek emerged, manifesting itself in a scattering of contradictory genres

Seven and a half exhilarating hours from one of modern club's sharpest.

Tim Reaper's mammoth entry for RA.1000 is all about range. You thought the Future Retro London boss was just a jungle and hardcore head? Think again.

The mix's infinite-scroll tracklist (the longest we've ever published in full!) includes a who's who of top-rate producers, from A Guy Called Gerald and Cari Lekebusch to Batu, Mia Koden and the one and only Shackleton.

Opening with weighty grime and ending on head-spinning drum & bass, the mix journeys through US club, wobbly dubstep, classic techno and, of course, many shades of jungle. Rather than go the easy route, the Londoner approached the assignment with the curiosity, integrity and vulnerability of fellow shapeshifters like dBridge, Calibre and ASC.

"The idea was to represent other styles of electronic music that I've been a bit self-conscious about openly expressing my interest in," he told RA.

RA.1000 isn't just another side of Tim Reaper's artistry: thankfully for us, it feels like only the beginning.
