Never Sleep proudly present JD @twitch - Live At Sprits Of Jamaica on 4th July 1992.

Pure was a clubbing institution in the 90s that fearlessly embraced acid
house's rise with a furor of embracing transatlantic electronic sounds
and breaking down barriers in the cinematic home of UK rave
Edinburgh. Famously being the first club in the UK to ever book a
young Jeff Mills and leading into Scotlands most ground breaking club
night Optimo Espacio.

Unearthed deep in JD Twitch archive was a lost tape of ragga, techno
and dub. Recorded in 1992 (almost exactly 30yrs ago) and the tape sets the tone for the never ending eclecticism, passion for the underground and merging of musical styles of this legendary DJ.

Extracted from the archives, we have Lena's Bank Holiday set from last August for you. 
It was sadly Lena's only set at The Gun, but it was a wild night, sweaty and heaving in the extreme & certainly one of favourites. The crowd had been dancing from about 7pm (Casper Clark and I's warm up is also available here) so when Lena got on for the remaining 4.5 hours, the room went nuts. Its a brilliantly varied and balanced set that encapsulates so much of what we loved at The Gun, banging enough for a room full of seething heads. dancing into the early hours and considered and classy do that it suits playback at any time of the day.
The recorder died just before the end of the set, so it appears those very last tracks were just for us there on that night, the rest is ready now. (Thanks for this Lena x)

For ONOMIX 013 we are extremely psyched to present a mix from Tokyo based selector / wizard Gold 43. 

A solid fixture of the Tokyo underground scene for the better part of a decade now, Gold 43 cut his teeth working at the esteemed Face Records in Shibuya, where he would have first pick of the wax coming through the door. Building up an arsenal of 90's rave rarities and house gems that define his truly unique style. 

Inspired by the scene and the DJs around him he began spinning his tunes around town, eventually kicking off the party series COMBO at Illas bar in Shimokitazawa, with friend and fellow 90's house nut Jima. A club night where the two of them, plus some special guests, could spin records true to their own style.

“NWB, being more than just the sum of its parts, always reflects my current life state(or lack of) and this year was no different. My friend Zach reminded me of this ultra-special cut by Arthur Russell: “In the Light of the Miracle.” It’s one of those holy grails and this mix (by Danny Krivit & Tony Smith) only existed as unreleased Talking’ Loud promo until a Soul Jazz comp finally issued it properly in 2005. I used to run it occasionally some 20 years ago, but hearing it again left me shook and set the stage for my entire set. And the rest of my life. My partner Ellen and I learned we were pregnant that same weekend.

Completely overwhelmed, I felt like I just wanted to share music for folks like I do in my own living room. Not really as a mix, but an intimate family affair. In the wee hours of the morning when I finally decided to share Russell’s opus, Ellen joined me on stage. We embraced and cried as we saw all our friends dancing in a now sunlit room.
