It is Monday the 3rd of February 2014 and we have DJ Red for the first time on the CLR Podcast. Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Simona Calvani p.k.a. DJ Red has been a resident for the Ultrabeat nights at Rome´s most important dance venue Goa club for the last 13 years. In 2012 she joined the BPitch Control artist roster and released her first record “Eyes Are Blind” on the BPitch Control label. Her mantra “creation is the source of energy” underpins the importance of the relationship between artist and public. Her innovative DJ style is characterized by Techno-Dub influences, dark and deep sounds. We are deeply excited to share Donato and Marco’s grand finale for the last edition of Terraforma at Villa Arconati. With great humbleness, these two masters and dear friends have carefully broadened and lulled, record after record, an intimate space of trust, exchange and deep-time connection. 
 
Also, we’d like to add a fond memory that was shared with us a few days after:

“Dozzy and Shuttle’s finale unfolded like twilight. A prolonged dusk caressed by an eerie drizzle. Shadows and whispers echoing with the surroundings. Synapses slowly reaching the ground, merging and becoming one with the underground rhizomatic networks. A memorable rendez-Nous within a fractal space. It felt like being at the core center of the matrix, enveloped by a warmth reminiscent of a maternal womb. I found myself in a weightless suspension, envisioning the past, the present and the future, all together in a blink of an eye.”

GiGi FM at Floresta - Waking Life '24

After visiting the lakeside dreamland last year I couldn't help myself but imagine on the moment what I would play if I had the opportunity to perform there myself (as any DJ would, I guess). I had different archetypes of sets forming in the back of my mind for different times of the day possible, if the opportunity ever came one day. 
So when I got invited to play the opening of Floresta on Sunday, it first came as a bit of a surprise, but the surprise turned into excitement and it was time to prepare a special set where I could dig into my dub techno collection. 
So, I am very happy to share with you the recording of my set, where I finally had the chance to play slow, deep, dubby and sunny techno in such a setting.
