If we were to pick one word to describe Ziggy Devriendt, AKA Nosedrip, it would probably humble. He runs a one-man empire out of the modest Belgian coastal town of Ostend, and his STROOM label is one of the most quietly brilliant outfits in Western Europe. A mixture of obscurer-than-obscure reissues and quirky new material makes for a label as unpredictable as it is essential, and Devriendt's unusual touch is all over it—he prefers to make up his own compilations and sequences instead of just repackaging old records, for example, which explains how important curation and putting songs together is to him.

So it's not a surprise that , in addition to being a music nerd supreme, Devriendt is also a remarkably good DJ, whose ear for oddball cuts translates well into intuitively danceable music. Judging from his RA Podcast, he's had trance on the mind—the mix features flighty beats that range from CJ Bolland and Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia to new-school practitioners like J-Zbel, plus a major highlight from Peter Van Hoesen that you might remember from Marcel Fengler's Berghain 05 mix and plenty of new material from Stroom. (He's also putting out a compilation of Belgian trance, which might explain the direction of this mix.) It's a three hour-ride that varies from jaw-dropping mixing to abrupt, almost shocking transitions that might startle you out of your chair.

An unexpected sequel, exploring the same records and moods as a previous recording in Beijing. This is taken from a recent show for Nurture x Liminal Dreams at The Observatory in Saigon. The plan had been a full spectrum set, but the energy did not feel right. Instead, I decided to play warm and comforting beats, focusing on my musical 'childhood', records from the late 90s - mid 00s. The mixing and presentation is meant to be gentle and relaxing. Enjoy.

Why do certain sounds cultivate a cult following? Simply put, it's often because they resist easy consumption. PLO Man and his imprint Acting Press lean into this. 

Searching for the Berlin-based DJ and producer, you won’t find much online presence, interviews or conventional PR. What you will find, if you look hard enough, is a catalogue of records and mixes with a kind of tape hiss charm (a spiritual successor to Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, but scuzzier and lighter on its feet).

Founded in 2015, Acting Press once seemed to belong to the short-lived "outsider house" trend, but is now synonymous with a certain strain of modern minimal, one that is analogue, spacious and pointedly opaque. PLO Man's output is equally sparse by design: this week, he joins the RA Podcast with a characteristically elusive style, accompanying the near two-hour mix is a one-answer Q&A that gives almost nothing away.

Stripped-back, ever-so-slightly sleazy and coated in dust, PLO Man's RA Podcast continues that lineage in style. Opening with the featherlight microhouse of Margaret Dygas, RA.988 unfolds into a carefully curated spectrum of minimal, dub and deep techno. Among familiar names—look out for the blinding Rhythm & Sound and Moodymann blend—are deep cuts and left turns alongside the odd outlier, like lovers' rock pioneer Gregory Isaacs.

Like the best of his forebears, PLO Man wants RA.988 to take time for you to settle in. But once you do, you won’t want to leave.

I was born in Côte d'Ivoire and grew up on the African continent. After some studies in France, I moved to the Netherlands for a job in 2016. Music was very present in my upbringing, with one of my brothers being a hip-hop artist. Settling in Amsterdam in 2018 opened new perspectives, as I delved into electronic music and its nightlife. Alongside collecting and playing music, I am involved in a few collective projects, including record label Polychrome Audio, creative network misuse, and arts & community space Noord Space. We are also starting a new club night called Interfering Grounds at Club Raum.

Curiosity has always been my driver. Being open to different perspectives and cultures. I like asking questions and experimenting to build understanding and create new things. Sharing is what keeps me going, with music and life in general.

If there is an artist who consistently impresses me through his craft, both as a producer and a dj, it is RDS. Part of the De Lichting crew, his commitment to sound, ability to express emotions through it, and deep musical knowledge are inspiring. I highly recommend listening to his catalogue and seeing him play records from his collection, it is very special. Two picks: his E-mutations album released on De Lichting, and his Underwater EP that we released last year on Polychrome Audio.

Playing the Nous'Klaer festival 2025 edition is definitely a bucket-list moment, and I am really excited for it :) There are so many festivals and clubs around the globe that I have yet to discover. I am very sensitive to artistic risk in both the program and design. Horst is also one of them, I remember vividly discovering its unique stages in 2024. Sustain-Release is also a festival that I would love to experience! I keep coming to the festival recordings, they channel a very special energy. It is a dream for me to play in Brazil, I fell in love with this country, where Gop Tun has been curating top-tier events.

For this set I played on 4 CDJ 3000’s and a V10 mixer, using both of its internal effects processors. For every No Way Back set, and for most sets, I try to prepare new hardware remasters and edits of things that I think would be fascinating recontextualized in this setting. But for NWB, it is even more special, a peak moment, so I try to have new records I’m working on in the studio to test out. For this set that means the hardware mixes I’ve been working on for Torrvo and for Andy Toth can be tested, I’m working on this hardware mixing and remastering tone palate, so I spread that to some edits to give them a whole new power. Playing at No Way Back cannot be put into words, though we try every year, it really is inexplicable without experiencing it. It’s the environment you most want to be in, the space is totally transformed, the sound is dialed in, the audience is so ready, very giving and open, and the feedback you get is incredible. People are up for a ride – we start at the Tangent and end up going to the other side of the universe. Freedom within and without. There’s no place I’d rather be, so I thought I’d share this much sooner than we usually do. Enjoy the ride.
