For Trushmix 172 we got Kim Dürbeck straight outta Sandefjord Norway. The techno and jungle producer is part of the younger generation of producers from Norway, operating in the outskirts of the Oslo scene. Active producing new music and live sets.     

For Trush he made a mix mainly jungle related in style, with a few detours through different sounds and genres, a fun trip through the sounds and inspirations of Mr Dürbeck!

Lush atmospherics and rowdy dance floor favourites by two of Melbourne’s finest, Millú and Pjenné. These two sonic soulmates have been busy at work channeling their predilection for ethereal 90s electronica and meditative leftfield sounds with the start of their record label, Companion. Intrigued to hear more, we got in touch to get the low-down on the new project and life in Australia, among other things. Furthermore, they found a gap in their busy timetable and laid down a beautiful mix for us, which glides from contemplative mind soothers to fist-pumping party vibes in a seamless, 70-minute transmission.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: If you take yourself seriously as an artist then by definition you are a “serious artist.” Try not to let commerce depower art in your life. Music is about making art powerful in your own life. Focus on your private practice first, and then focus on making your music meaningful in the lives of others. That’s the natural way of things. Invest in the idea that your friends are special and talented and then create together. Don’t wait for others to acknowledge your work before you take yourself seriously.

How do you typically prepare a mix?

I fill a stick or a bag with music I want to play. Try not to overthink it. After a while I feel like intuition is king.

It was in a bar in the suburbs using Virtual DJ. My girlfriend at the time was celebrating her birthday. We were 16. It was hype.
