Imagine growing up near Berlin, getting into dance music, going to Berghain for the first time and getting your mind blown by techno. Then, ten years later, you become a resident DJ at the fabled club. Not many people—any people?—can claim this story, but for Fadi Mohem, what would be so many DJs' dreams became a reality. After getting his 2017 debut 12-inch Reckless in the hands of all the right people in Berlin, Mohem established a bold, bouncy techno sound with releases on Modeselektor's Seilscheibenpfeiler, Ben Klock's Klockworks and FJAAK's SPANDAU20, pretty much the cream of the crop of modern techno.

Now, this year, he's becoming one of Berghain's newest residents, alongside other exciting names like Sedef Adasï and Naty Seres (and Lakuti upstairs at Panorama Bar). As heard on his recent collaborative with Ben Klock, Mohem has modern techno down to a science, thanks to a combination of reverence for the old-school and clever rhythmic touches, like the irresistible snare pattern on "Prefix." His RA Podcast sounds like what you might expect from a new generation of Berghain resident: aerodynamic, heavy and, honestly a little midtempo compared to a lot of other young techno DJs. It's the sound the club has made world-famous, with cuts from Reeko, Heiko Laux and Truncate, plus some special moments from aya, DJ Deeon and Petar Dundov. It takes a certain kind of DJ to get to this hallowed place, and Fadi Mohem deserves it.

The 126th FrenzyPodcast, and second of the ’22 Summer Series is provided by Yonti, hailing from Tel-Aviv and recently relocated in Berlin. Focusing on atmospheric raw techno and dark rolling beats, his sets are a display of momentum and tension building. Shifting from heavy cuts to funky minimalistic loops and always keeping the energy high characterize the sound of Yonti. Besides his noticeable skills as a DJ, which got him to play at many parties in - and outside of his hometown, including the infamous Snax and Klubnacht in Berghain, Yonti had a significant influence in Tel-Aviv’s techno scene as the owner of Alphabet Club and Phi Garden, that brought to the city a fresh breath of queer parties.

Mama Snake is the reptilian alias of Sara Svanholm, a Copenhagen-based DJ/Producer whose slithering beats are every bit as cunning as the name suggests. She’s an integral part of her city’s scene and a card-carrying member of collaborative ‘mixed media channel’ Amniote Editions alongside names like Celestial Trax, Hadone and D.Dan. Her full-blooded sound leaves no room for misinterpretation, it is thrilling, primal and overwhelming in the vein of the most compelling main stage techno. There’s a raw practicality to the music too, perhaps a function of her second career as a medical surgeon; Mama Snake wants to create a communal feeling through her work, and there’s the human touch. These rumbling rhythms might sound formidable, but they’re there to bring people together and get both bodies and progressive ideas moving. Bassiani Podcast 163 is pure, unadulterated, percussive power, 80 minutes of coiling loops and white-hot basslines from the Denmark-based techno matriarch.

At the controls of this week's RYC transmission is a DJ we particularly look up to. Hailing out of Leipzig, Unitas Multiplex chief exec Vincent Neumann is the epitome of a skilled jockey, clinical on the momentum and transition but by no means standoffish or emotionless. Far from that, his sets deploy the most infectious arsenal of incendiary wares, spanning the whole spectrum of electronics with panache and poise. Psychotherapist by trade, Neumann's acute understanding of the dancer's psyche sure shines bright through this helluva hectic treat. To those who've been lucky enough to attend one of his seminal ten-hour sets this will ring a most emotional bell, to those who're yet to experience it, we're certain the present mix will offer an ideal point of entry into his ever-tasteful selections and supreme knack for groove manipulation.
