On the very first Festival day of Horst Arts & Music Festival 2022, Australian duo Sleep D galvanized the Hovering Caress Amère stage with a mind-altering live set. Surrouned by a flock of devoted early ravers, the Butter Sessions founders made it crystal clear why they are at the very front of the progressive house and techno revival. Being named a resident at Berghain is likely an unattainable dream for so many DJs, but for Sedef Adasi, it all happened naturally. The Turkish producer grew up in the mid-sized Bavarian city of Augsburg, where a lack of spaces she felt comfortable with—she's mentioned DJing in shoe stores—led her to start her own party, HAMAM Nights. From there she made her name with a vibrant, diverse sound that encompasses breaks, electro, techno and more, with soft-focus melodies and plenty of vocal hooks. She's one of the first residents at the legendary club to truly reflect the glorious cross-pollination of dance music styles in the '10s, when techno absorbed ideas from dubstep, garage and more. 

Adasi represents both floors of that club, and you could imagine this RA Podcast going down in either room, but of course, she exists outside that club's narrative too. What you'll hear here is a cutting-edge and dynamic blend of electro and Latin techno—with two tracks from 2022 MVP Nick León—mixed with grace and finesse. Her sound is immediately approachable, well-paced and full of catchy moments and breakdowns. Listen and find out.

Here is a new mix I did while travelling to Armenia a couple of weeks ago. 

I did it on my phone in between the waiting room and boarding a plane in Warsaw with the software Djay Pro AI by Algoriddim.

On my phone I have thousands of tracks in high resolution, .aifs files.
 
The mix was recorded in CD quality in the software. 

I did use „sync“ and also some of the „AI crossfades“ to be able to record it flowingly and with all the tempo changes and while showing my boarding pass, literally. 

Even though this is a completely different approach from how I would mix in a club, I did really enjoy doing it this way, it wouldn’t be possible with conventional tools. 

I love music and technology and to try out new ways of recording stuff.

I haven’t posted a recording of my djing for quite some time now, I feel this is a moment I can and want to share.

This 5 hour closing set has been something special for me.

Walking into de school not knowing what was about to happen, only thinking that I would see this as my musical homage to being a resident to this amazing place, a space where I was going to play one of my most memorable sets to this day. What started as 3 hours planned of a closing ended up in 5 hours of pure bliss. 
The responses on that moment have changed a lot for me. It made me rethink why I dj, why I make music and why I love doing this thing I do so much. 

These 5 hours are filled with: unknown hits to big dance bangers, music for happiness, loneliness, loving, hating, remembering, forgetting, friendship and everything in between.

Bogota-born, Berlin-based Tania Humeres Correa aka @thc_dj has perfected the art of high-energy sounds that get big room crowds close together. The Rinse FM host has her own party series La Noche with Byron Yeates and sibling DHC, and with the latter plays back-to-back as S-candalo. Acid, potent rave bangers, vocal gems and deeper delights all feature in her sets which always look to combine an unbridled sense of party with plenty of emotional nuance.

This week's mix was recorded just after the start of festival season so is aimed at getting your summer started in style. Staying true to her signature house sounds with plenty of warmth, euphoria and rolling grooves, it's a perfect representation of her ideal dance floor soundtrack. While leaning towards the energy of the main stage and "anthemic vastness," her selections never forget about the all-important elements of intimacy and soul which help the beats make a lasting impression.

Batumi-born, Berlin-based DJ/Producer Nicole has been instrumental in the evolution of Tbilisi’s role as axis for music and politics. Her earliest ventures in sonic creation saw her attend music school as a child and drum in a band, followed by a pivot into electronic music as half of teenage duo Body Thrills. It was 2018 that she truly emerged solo as a talent to watch on the Georgian scene, with a Boiler Room performance at Bassiani to celebrate its reopening following civilian protests against the government’s shutdown of cultural spaces. And with the threat of authoritarian ideology looming once more, her kind of energy is perhaps more important than ever. Nicole’s sound represents the best of what Georgia has to offer, a free and open enthusiasm for life where creativity reigns and anything is possible. Witty minimal with a generous measure of acid squelches and positive funk, these tunes are a mirror to the dancefloors she plays on. Her strength is in knowing her audience, which strings to pull and when, and that’s just as true of her other work, which now counts promotion duties at Tbilisi space Cafe Gallery and an EP on Marco Shuttle’s Eerie Records. This latest episode carries Tbilisi’s flame forward, a six-hour compilation that brings together her unique perspective as native to the city’s struggle, and her disparate musical references. Bassiani Podcast 275 is a knockout set from a top-notch local talent.
