Respected techno figurehead DJ Spider drops ‘Democide’ - his first album on a label other than his own – via illustrious New Jersey-based event series and art collective Green Village.

Also from New Jersey, DJ Spider has long been one of the most respected figures based out of the East Coast’s electronic music scene. Co-founder of Plan B Recordings, Sublevel Sounds and founder of BTU Music, Spider has released four albums and over 40 EPs. He has fomented a distinct techno sound, one where sludgy synths and a sense of urban dystopia make for unsettling atmospheres; with elements of industrial, ambient and a masterful way of drawing tension and darkness out of his synths, he has one of the most unique sounds in techno. This new album proves that once more across twelve spellbinding tracks.

Things kick off in haunting fashion, with withering synths over bouncing drums taking you deep into Spider’s paranoid world on the excellent ‘Kill Your TV’. From there he explores super slow motion techno on ‘Warhead’, bristling and militant drum work on ‘War Is A Racket’ and then offers some melodic, light-fueled optimism on the scintillating ‘Enemy of the State.’'

The brilliantly loose drums on ‘Repeat Offender’ dip into late night hip hop territory, ‘1984’ is an assault on the dance floor, ‘The Vector Symbology’ shows off Spider’s knack for warping, bending and smearing synths in ways only he can and ‘Necro Nebula’ is a high pressure brew of restless drums, rumbling bass and the sounds of machines in meltdown before closing on ‘Stagecraft Psychosis’ which is the sound of the future collapsing in on itself.

This is a superbly cinematic album of storytelling techno that is filled with evocative mental imagery as well as moments that will detonate the dance floor, not to mention plenty of rewarding headphone moments.

Greetings and welcome from Axces. We're a small local Copenhagen community of friends and curious souls. This is our very first record. 

The record was created in 2017 at the professional facilities we've come to know as Nordvest Auto. On both tracks, you'll hear a lot of drums, some bass, effects, samples, vocals and sounds from beyond, we don't know how to describe. They've been tested on various sound systems during the past year, and we can ensure you that a flat EQ and max volume will suit the tracks almost anywhere. 

We really hope you enjoy our effort. If you should ever find yourself in Copenhagen Axces will provide counselling and guidance at own risk.

Formed in Brixton in 2006, afrobeat band Yaaba Funk have released two albums with Sterns Music and performed numerous acclaimed live shows — including support slots for Seun Kuti and Ebo Taylor.

Rapidly rising star Danvers (also of Kassian) takes the infectious energy of 'Oman Foa' into a triumphant new direction, with one of his broken beat rhythms at its core — recalling his big summer track 'Aye Ata' which received heavy support from the likes of Gilles Peterson and Midland. With a succinct arrangement that lets the joyous brass and powerfully harmonised vocals shine potently, it's a feel-good party music that works wonders when deployed at the right place and time.

'Hwehwe Mu Na Yi Wo Mpena' is their cover of the Ghanian highlife singer K. Frimpong and his Cubano Fiestas' irresistible 1977 track, which Ben Gomori strips back into two instrumental-focused versions. His 'Message Of Love Edit' is a summery, housey flip with trumpets mutated into synths and the bass pumped up with chunky distortion, while his 'Message Of Love Live Dub' zones in on the live grooves with just a little extra embellishment.

my personal favourite track from the new e.p.. it has a real band feel to me with the drummer playing sidestick on the snare and everyone keeping an eye on each other for the changes. the changes were supposed to feel like when a train goes into a dark tunnel and comes out into the light at the other end. the squonking ornette coleman sound is one of my favourite discoveries on the buchla music easel.

SWING TING - CUMIN BOUNCE (Free Download)

A few months in and TAU, the label helmed by Adana Twins, is in the groove. Launched in August 2018, the outlet has given the Hamburg duo a chance to flex their A&R muscles, curating releases that showcase more established artists alongside up and coming talents, while allowing them to fully explore their own tastes.
TAU004 shines a light on Amberoom, a German trio comprised Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan. The three men produce won- derfully warm, soulful, nourishing compositions which have already court favour with the Innervisions crew - their killer track ‘Kastell’ released on the much-respected ‘Secret Weapons 11’ compilation, and Dixon added his own “Retouch”. Veteran producer isolée steps up for remix duties on this one, too, making this an essential three-tracker.
The EP kicks off with ‘Tulu’ a stirring cut punctuated by a wistful male vocal complemented by a harmonious, yet sombre low end. Delicate twin- kles and emotive strings add depth as the track tugs on your heartstrings. This is a lush, measured composition with excellent programming on its organic-sounding drums and a contemplative atmosphere throughout.
Next up is the title track, ‘Jazire’, which picks up the pace immediately. A contagious 4x4 beat forms the foundation of this rousing number, which builds steadily into a cacophony of tribal-esque effects; shakers reverberating next to mysterious sounds that echo in and out of the back- ground. A melancholy melody gives this track extra emotional density, while the tension builds and subsides intermittently and the beat keeps those hips moving.
Lastly, isolée’s reinterpretation of the title track utilises a more traditional house motif, emphasising the shadowy atmospherics and injecting a more insistent beat. As the 4x4 rhythm pumps along, he adds clicks and skipping toms - pushing the energy levels up a notch. A dark, eerie tone pervades and isolée retains the sorrowful refrain from the original to complement his dour synth riff.
Adana Twins keep the standards high as TAU continues to impress with another exemplary release.
