BSV: Hello Golden Boy, nice to have you here! Your music style is very unique. Did you listen a lot of RAP music during your childhood?
MENE: Hello, thanks for having me. I have listened to hip hop whole my life, but it's not just a hip hop, I'm trying to spread my mind and listen to a lot of different genres. 

BSV: You are also a label owner and you thrilled us all with the quality of your first release (https://bit.ly/3zjhzkm). Is it hard to make these popular sounds?
MENE: Yes, I'm owner of label called TOZLA (@tozlasound). I am really glad that you like it. I'm not trying to make popular sound, I just make music and if people like it - I won! 😀

BSV: Very impressive groove in your tracks. How long have you been in (electronic) music production?
MENE: Thank you for that. 🙂
I don't count years but it's been a really long trip. 🙂

BSV: Are you a PIMP?
MENE: Yes of course! I'm a PIMP and my tracks are my bitches!!! 😂

BSV: How many beats per week?
MENE: It depends on how much inspiration I have. If I have, I can make 3 tracks in a day. 

BSV: Any festival schedules in the near future?
MENE: I'll play on Love Fest - Fire Stage in August w/ @locodiceofc, @sethtroxler, @bibi-87 and @enrico-sangiuliano.

BSV: Hello Mass! Are you working as a digitalisation ambassador in government of Serbia? Your tracks are all around the web and always in high quality.
MASS DIGITAL: Hehehe, thanks for this kind words. Yeah, seems like people love my vibe and share around.

BSV: You published for All Day I Dream and other famous record labels and people in Serbia don’t know you very well. Are you focused more on the international market?
MASS DIGITAL: Over the last 10 years my music was released on some of the best electronic music labels like ADID, TRYBESof, Kindisch, Hoomidaas, Toolroom, Cr2, Sol Selectas, Akbal, Iboga...
Yes, I’m more focused on the international market at the moment.

BSV: Two remixes and one unpublished original shared with this mixtape. Music production is your primary goal or you want to travel the world as a DJ too?
MASS DIGITAL: From Monday to Friday I’m in my home studio working on original music and remixes. Yes, music production is my primary goal at the moment, but next year will be focused more on touring worldwide.

BSV: We found that your EQ-ing is just perfect. How long does it take to get these skills?
MASS DIGITAL: Heh, we, music producers, are in constant battle with the mixdown and sound, so every track is a story for itself. Advice for all producers is to learn and listen as much as they can.

BSV: There is a signature voice intro with all your mixes. Did you make this recordings while drinking coffee on Mondays?
MASS DIGITAL: Hah, yeah, when I’ve started accepting mix / podcast requests, wanted to make it special and to be closer to the listener. And yeah, people love my voice intros and I really enjoy making those.
You will hear a lot of these intros and personal messages as at the moment I have mix requests till October 2022.

BSV: Have you ever been on ADID showcase? Maybe @ Exit Festival in 2019?
MASS DIGITAL: No, but there will be an ADID Festival in May next year, so 🙂  ... 

BSV: Living in clouds vs realism? What’s your choice?
MASS DIGITAL: I’m a dreamer, aquarius. That says all.

BSV: Hello Bethany! Same importance to you for beats as painting?
BETHANY ROSE: That answer is a hard yes. The two definitely feed each other. I need music to help get me to that flow state when I paint and I need to experience that flow state to carry over into my music. It’s all about flow state.

BSV: You have decided to share with us the mixtape that you recorded for Defected Records ‘’Unsung Heroes’’ competition. Quality involved, you could have won. Disappointed?
BETHANY ROSE: Thank you. I love this mix. There a lot of my soul in there. I am a little disappointed. I even submitted a very kind letter of recommendation from one of my hero’s Julius Papp.

BSV: Music vibrations = healing. Any methodologies in treatment?
BETHANY ROSE: I love reiki and binaural beats. There is a lot of healing to be had there. I was watching this thing the other day about 42 hz frequency and how if our F was tuned to it our experience with music could be taken to another level. But, yes! Music = healing.

BSV: You are from the Bay Area. What describes your sound and how special it is in relation to the area you come from?
BETHANY ROSE: The Bay Area does have a thriving House music scene. That’s for sure. It’s also a beautiful place geographically. I think the environment of the Bay Area has had an impact on the shape of my downtempo to deep house to nu disco groovy vibe. People out here tend to be real music lovers. It’s nice to play to a crowd who appreciates it.

BSV: What’s your connection between murals and deep house music?
BETHANY ROSE: If I were to draw a connection it would be that both have the ability to completely transform an environment.

BSV: Last track in this mixtape is such a nice treat from the past. Is there any particular reason for including that one?
BETHANY ROSE: Yeah! That one is such a fun way to end a set. It’s such a good throw back. The lyrics say it all too. My best friend, who is also an incredible dj and music aficionado, @DJBARDIA, gave that song to me to use to close out a part with. I had to use it to close out this very special mix.

BSV: Are you a music mage?
BETHANY ROSE: Hahaha! Mage? Well I guess we all cast spells in different ways. My favorite sets do tend to be early sets. They give a dj the opportunity to set the mood for the whole party. I like to approach it as if I’m gradually beginning to fill the air with my tunes. The idea is to give people a chance to settle in, greet each other, feel out the space for themselves. There is definitely some magic in that.

BSV: Hi Roberto! As listeners, we can assume that you are a very experienced DJ. Is that true?
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: Hi, thanks for hosting me in the BSV series, I am very happy! I don't know if I can say I have a great experience, for sure I have a solid base. I started mixing when I was sixteen, seventeen years old with Technics sl-1200 turntables and after a short time I started working as a DJ in clubs in the middle of the Adriatic coast having been born in San Benedetto del Tronto. I followed this path until I started my university studies (quite late). Two years ago during the lockdown period due to the Covid pandemia I bought a professional console, headphones, two speakers and USB sticks. And here I am!

BSV: Your transitions are just perfect. Tell us more about M series on SoundCloud.
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: Thanks so much for your appreciation on my transitions. The "M" in my series on Soundcloud stands for Master. When I was working in discos in the 80s/early 90s, it was common - and I did too - to duplicate a master magnetic tape with a Teac double cassette recorder for those who requested it. I used to call the matrix tapes "Master", as I do now keeping the initial... I have just passed 50 sets of my series, normally I release every two weeks on Thursday nights. I use the decks, mixer, equalizer and synchro (when it works) to mix without any other effect. I must say that technology today helps for many things. Seeing the track allows me to design an hour-long set in a very short time, I can pin down in some sort of language how the mixes should be done, this allows me to have myself an experience as a listener: the vinyl record is a black object, the possible attachment points are not actually visible, you have to know where they are and you have to count the beats of the musical turn which, depending on the genre, may not be too easy to remember; and finally also to know so much about the mixes to perform that once the master tape is produced I can no longer listen to it... and then the possibility of making some mistakes is always around the corner.

BSV: Lyrics come through your tapes. You are a VOX superfan?
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: Well yes, I like the voice as an instrument, not all, but for example the penultimate track in this session is sung by Lauren L'aimant, who has a very nice voice, I am amazed how such an emotional track can be produced with just a few notes and a single voice.

BSV: It’s not hard to notice that your covers are quite interesting. Are you a graphic designer?
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: No, I am not a graphic designer. Initially I was looking for the cover images simply by association, starting from the favorite track of the set, I searched images using google by continuing to follow links in a sort of situationist drift until I found the right image for me at that moment. From a certain point onwards, in order to give a stylistic continuity to the images, I started to choose the covers from an modern art site, choosing emerging authors in general but also some established ones.

BSV: Have you ever thought about going into music production?
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: No, I do not think I have the ability. In my opinion to make music, although electronic music, you must have a minimal musical background.

BSV: In situation where you have to choose, would you rather pick progressive or deep house sound?
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: I prefer [Melodic] Deep House, especially with very low sounds and slightly disturbing low frequencies, the third to last track (@bakkalive) is an example of this type of sound.

BSV: Where can we hear your mixes in live. Are you a resident of a club?
ROBERTO BARTOLINI: No, I am not. Hopefully one day, I am only 56, it's never too late.... <3

EDUARDO DRUMN: Hello, thank you for the second invitation, yes I feel privileged for this second mixtape, and to bring my music to you.

BSV: Any big changes in your artist life in this period of 20 episodes?
EDUARDO DRUMN: Recognition in some countries where the label has a lot of impact, it served the country of origin, I had a lot of listeners from there.

BSV: You are the owner of a record label @demonotthx. Do these operational tasks take up a lot of your time?
EDUARDO DRUMN: At the moment I'm managing to reconcile production, study, mixing and mastering and management of the label.

BSV: With this session you shared your upcoming track that is scheduled for March. Are you ready for the spring?
EDUARDO DRUMN: Ah yes, this track is really cool, just like me, I hope all listeners on the label enjoy it.

BSV: Material have already been tested and it seems that people love the vibe. Does it mean a lot to you when you hear something like this when it comes to your further creative work?
EDUARDO DRUMN: Yes, I love it when people message me about it, sending videos of the tracks, and I reply to everyone 🙂

BSV: Are you considering the possibility of expanding the base of artists who would publish for your label?
EDUARDO DRUMN: I'm always listening to what they send, some things I listen to a lot to see if it fits the label.

BSV: Hello Lanna! First of all, we want to thank you for this mixtape. It is a privilege to interview and host such a talented young person / artist. Welcome to the team of visionaries!
LANNA: Thanks for having me! And big thanks for the kind words. Hope you enjoy the mix! 😊

BSV: It’s hard to believe that you are a teenager while we listen to your music. Really? How is that possible?
LANNA: Haha, I get that a lot! Electronic music has been playing in my house since I was little. I joined a DJ-ing school at the age of twelve and instantly fell in love with vinyls. But honestly, back then, I didn’t have a clue that “Lanna“ would become an artistic project on this level so fast. I’m loving every moment of it!

BSV: You started with music production recently and if we listen to ’’My Journey’’ track we notice influences of different genres. How would you describe the sound that you are playing?
LANNA: I approach music production with a clear idea of how I want the track to sound. I draw inspiration from various sources, such as my emotions, experiences, the artists I look up to and the mood I want to convey. This serves as a guiding force throughout the creative process. 

BSV: After this year's EXIT Festival performance at Dance Arena you stand out as a rising star of the global electronic music scene. What can you say about this experience from 3 weeks ago?
LANNA: The thing I enjoy the most is watching and feeling the crowd as they feel me and the music I play, and that exchange of the energy at EXIT Festival was next level. I deeply believe that you can communicate so much more through music than with words or any other medium. This was my third performance at EXIT Festival, and the first at the iconic Dance Arena. It was absolutely awe-inspiring, no words can describe it! 

BSV: We saw some news about another competition that you won and that you are going to Las Vegas to play some music there. Tell us something about that.
LANNA: Yes, that’s right! It all started when the LMF festival announced a DJ competition at the beginning of April. Little did I know that out of over 120 talented young DJs from all over the world, my mix would be selected! And to make things even more exciting, it opened doors to an incredible trip to Las Vegas! I can't believe I'll have the chance to play at one of the clubs there. It's yet another dream come true! 😊 

BSV: Being in the Beatport top 100 chart is a huge success for a first release. How did you connect with the famous British producer?
LANNA: Yes, it's been an incredible achievement, especially since this EP made me the youngest producer to reach the Beatport Top 100 list! My collaboration with Sebastian Haas began in 2021 after I played one of his tracks at EXIT festival’s NSNS Stage. He took notice of my work and reached out to me with the idea to create a track together. I shared several project ideas with him, and we settled on two that we developed together. Working with him was amazing, and it resulted in a progressive-house EP I’m very proud of. We’ve just finished two more tracks, but in a slightly different genre, and you’ll get to hear them very soon! 

BSV: Favorite artists / producers at the moment?
LANNA: Oh, that's a tough one! I have so much respect for all my DJ colleagues, and it's hard to pick just one favorite artist or producer. There are so many talented individuals out there, and I love exploring and discovering new music from various artists. It's an exciting time in the electronic music scene, and I'm constantly inspired by the creativity and talent of my peers.

BSV: Hello broski! Such a pleasure to have you here. Welcome to the crew of visionaries!
PETER PORTMAN: Hi @beatsoundvisions team! Thanks for having me on this episode. Winter just kicked in, I brought you some tunes to warm up a little bit!

BSV: This recording is a “hell of a job”. Where on earth do you find these tracks?
PETER PORTMAN: Thanks for kind words, yes I do a lot of digging, from promo pools from email over listening tracks from the sets, I think the urge to discover new tunes keeps me digging deeper than usual, and after all this is our job, right? 

BSV: You had China tour at the end of September. How was that experience?
PETER PORTMAN: The China tour was really above expectations. Even though it was for their holidays where everyone traveled domestic, or international. I think I've managed to feel the true vibe of the country. Food was awesome too! Once again big thanks to my team Uros & Leo for making it happen!

BSV: Munich, Paris, London, New York… We dance… Which scene is your favourite?
PETER PORTMAN: Every scene has its own charm, really depends on the mood and also culture. Personally or from my point of view  however you want to call it... Letting loose without phones and enjoying the moment itself.

BSV: People that follow you know that you like to experiment with sound and that you are not limited by particular genre. Are you able to describe your frequencies?
PETER PORTMAN: Sometimes I do find it difficult explaining myself, really it's up to reading the room, the crowd, and the mood I am currently in. As I said above I try to listen to as much as possible a wide variety of the music (also non electronic) so I can try to bring together into one unique frequency.  I think you just need to have patience and to be there when magic happens.

BSV: The wonderkid of Serbian electronic music scene, can we call you like that?
PETER PORTMAN: /

BSV: Do you believe in magic while playing Romanian minimal? 
PETER PORTMAN: I think I don't see myself as a Rominimal DJ at all. I am A DJ, and  music in general is magic and it can be both healing or damaging.

BSV: Hello there and thanks for the submission! How did you find us? Google of your “Resilient” track maybe? 😉
ES.KA: I know your channel for a long time since we are supporting each other and l thought it would be a great opportunity to promote new project “Above Us“ 🙂

BSV: From progressive to melodic techno, from dark to hard techno. What’s your range in electronic music?
ES.KA: For my single project it’s something between melodic techno and peak time techno. Above Us aims for a more melodic and deeper sound like I used to play some years ago.

BSV: If we listen your production, it translates into “Eyes Wide Shut” feeling (sounds from the movie). That was your goal?
ES.KA: /

BSV: Tell us something about Illusions @ Haus33. What’s the concept?
ES.KA: Illusions is a melodic techno / peak time techno event which distinguish itself from other events at Haus33 by sticking to slower styles of techno instead of playing mostly hard techno like other events do.  

BSV: We found the info on Beatport about your first ever track (2021). How did you get in electronic music? When was that?
ES.KA: I started DJing 6 years ago in melodic and deep techno genre. In 2021 I decided that I want to make my own music which I can perform in clubs.

BSV: What’s behind your DJ duo artist name (meaning)?
ES.KA: It conveys the meaning that the music is always above us. We found that it has a good sound to it and we we're aiming for a two word name.

BSV: Is there maybe some interesting story about how you guys decided to do music together? Let us know about your long term goals…
ES.KA: The funny thing is that we know each other since we were kids. Didn't have contact at all for about 25 years and figured out that we are both into electronic music. Each of us in own project. So we decided to create something together. Long term goals would be getting in touch and getting collabs with more established artists and playing more shows.

BSV: Such a privilege to have you here bro! How are you? What’s going on?
FAETD: Hey, thanks! It's great being a guest on your radio show. I'm doing fine, thanks. A little bit busy around these holidays, but all is good. I'm working on some new music and related stuff.

BSV: So so so energetic mixtape. Powerful job! Are you more into the tech house now?
FAETD: Thank you, it means a lot. Hmm, yes and no. When I started this mix, it took me in that direction. I am more into experimenting with different styles. I don't like being defined by just one sound because, in my opinion, it affects creative freedom. So, I love to mix when I make music, especially transitioning from tech to electro and everything in between... 🙂 But regarding this set I went all in tech house.

BSV: Not too many people know that you are offering sound design services. Where this passion comes from?
FAETD: Yeah, I like doing that because it sparks creativity. Most of what I've learned about mixing and mastering is from doing it for other people. It's harder for me to mix and master my own music 🙂 I love enhancing people's ideas through mixing and mastering. And I love learning things, so I constantly work on my mixing, mastering, and sound design skills, there is no end to it.

BSV: Can you please explain to us your connection with The Prodigy and in which way they determined your sound?
FAETD: Oh, I grew up listening to The Prodigy, I even think that they got me into electronic music and all. I was always inspired by their sound, especially the creativity in how they made some of their most iconic tracks, and the synthesis they use. I always try to incorporate some of those colors into my tracks. I don't know how to describe it with words, but some gritty synth stabs or leads here and there.

BSV: In this recording you included “Funky People” remix edit (original tracks from this release also mastered by you) and your “Those Pills” original track (under the previous alias Dafter). You decided to mix these tracks in the opening. Did you realize that we used same vocal pack in production? 😉
FAETD: Yeah, I wanted to start my mix with 'Funky People,' and that track dictated the entire mix, leading me to create a tech house mix. The track 'Those Pills' somehow goes very well with it. Oh yeah, I remember you told me once about using the same sample pack. I should have mixed your track with mine :D, maybe next time, that would be cool 🙂

BSV: Why did you change your artist name and what’s behind it?
FAETD: Hmm, it has always been mistaken for Daft Punk. People would ask me if it's because of Daft Punk and stuff like that, and I was always explaining. It started as 'Destination After,' then I made it shorter, and that's it. I wanted to rebrand and went with FAETD, using alternative spelling 🙂 I had a hard time coming up with a name, and while I was reading a book, I came across a very beautiful quote, 'Amor Fati,' and the whole explanation and philosophy behind it just clicked—Fated. Then I used alternative spelling and FAETD was created 🙂

BSV: Tell us something about your latest and future music projects.
FAETD: I am currently working on some new tracks and a video for one of my tracks. A few months ago, I released two of my tracks: 'As It Was' and 'In My Head', they are both on sound.xyz, on the blockchain. I started releasing on my own on the blockchain, and in the near future, I am planning to drop them on Spotify and other streaming platforms.

BSV: Welcome to the team Bogdan and big thanks for the submission! How are you today?
OLARU: Hello and thank you for the invitation. I hope you like my DJ set. I'm fine, I started working on a new EP.

BSV: Micro house or minimal? What’s your journey?
OLARU: Difficult question, it depends on my mood, but I think micro house is the base. Few years ago I started to explore this style of music, it was mind-opening for me.

BSV: We saw in your portfolio that you did a warm up for Stefano Noferini. How was that experience?
OLARU: It was a great party, I'm a big Stefano Noferini fan, he's an exceptional person, in the same evening Just2 and Luca M were also there, so yes, it was something special for me.

BSV: Very unique vibes with this mixtape. How was this mix recorded?
OLARU: It was recorded in the studio together with some friends. I really like to use music to translate my feelings, I like to create a story where listeners can dream.

BSV: Are you going to Berlin often?
OLARU: Not really, I prefer London, Barcelona. But I don't rule out Berlin, and I think you can find the best techno there.

BSV: If you take a look into your folders, which DJ is the most frequently present?
OLARU: I don't have a specific producer, clearly many Romanian producers, such as Bryz, Nu Zau, Barac, and many others.

BSV: Bandcamp type of person?
OLARU: I personally don't use it much, I collaborate with several music production companies, but I have moments when I listen and discover very good artists.

Episode 045 & Serbia based Cosmic Eve (@cosmic_eve), interview below:

BSV: Hello there! Thanks a lot for your lovely mixtape. Who is behind Cosmic Eve project?
COSMIC EVE: Cosmic Eve is the creation of an artistic soul who has loved music for as long as she can remember. In my youth, I was involved in singing and acting. Coming from a musical family, l've always been drawn to soul and pop. As I grew up, I developed a love for jazz and funk, eventually finding my way to electronic music, with a strong affinity for House and later minimal styles.

BSV: We are curious about your connection with Vienna city. Did that scene influence your cosmic music journey?
COSMIC EVE: Vienna, in my opinion, is a city that has greatly enriched my general knowledge of musical culture. The classical music scene, along with jazz and funk, has been incredibly influential. I often attended opera and musicals, where l even performed myself, singing in musicals. Additionally, I sang in a church choir and in a jazz-funk band. As for the electronic music scene, I gained most of my knowledge in Serbia and later in Romania.

BSV: People in Serbia know you as minimal dj. Tell us a bit more about your sound.
COSMIC EVE: Listening to electronic music, I've always been drawn to deep and powerful bass lines that play a melody in combination with percussion and jazz elements. I had never come across the so-called "ro-minimal" sound before, even though this genre isn't officially recognized, known for its calm yet massive sound. It wasn't until five years ago, after returning to Serbia from Vienna, that I happened to hear a few tracks in a studio that were a revelation to me. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude, looking up at the sky and thanking a higher power for finally giving me the answer. I always knew such a sound existed, but l haven't heard it before then. I hope this response makes sense to you. My sound typically ranges between 123-126 BPM, depending on whether it's an intro or not. l am particularly drawn to a deep and rich bass, combined with a house sound and organic instruments layered over it. I prefer not to limit myself to a single genre, allowing for more creativity and diversity in my sets.

BSV: Few days ago you played at Vibe Festival in Serbia. How was that experience?
COSMIC EVE: I'm glad you asked about the Vibe Festival because I'm still under its impression. The organization was serious, the sound was perfect, and I felt great on stage. Serbia should have such an intimate yet high-quality festival in every city. Vibe supports local artists in every way, and I want to thank them for everything and wish them much success in the coming years.

BSV: What kind of software you are using and how did you get into music production?
COSMIC EVE: Honestly, I knew that if I wanted to pursue this branch of music seriously, I needed to understand every aspect of it: musical education including knowledge of solfeggio and listening to different genres, mixing and practice, knowing how to mix records, and finally, production where I can highlight my distinctive sound. My father is a sound engineer, and after observing my passion for a long time, he finally agreed to teach me, starting with Cubase, the program of his youth, and later Ableton. Attending music school and playing the piano helped me quickly master the basics. I was very fortunate to have my father's guidance and later the support of colleagues like Petar Cvetkovic and Zlatnici.

BSV: Spotify or iTunes type of person?
COSMIC EVE: I don't have Spotify yet, and since l use Macintosh, l use iTunes. I have to admit, I haven't had the chance to explore this topic further.

BSV: Can you please share with us some tracks from your current playlist that you are listening on repeat?
COSMIC EVE: Honestly, I don't listen to individual tracks on repeat. I prefer listening to sets from my favorite artists.

BSV: Hello Lucia! Thanks for joining us! How are you today?
LUNARA: I am feeling great! Catching a bit nostalgic vibe from the change of the weather, but that is normal. An autumn is quite inspirational season for me. Thank you for invitation. 😎

BSV: We met each other in the city that doesn’t exist. Tell us something about your journey from your hometown to European San Francisco scene.
LUNARA: Ah 😄. I did not hear this joke about Brno before, but truly it is very small city in comparison with Prague, but very heart-warming. I came here ten years ago to study university and started my music journey few years ago by spinning some vinyls at home during long winter nights. ✨

BSV: How would you describe the sound of Brno?
LUNARA: Very catchy, bassy, groovy. Mostly would say there is great techno scene and a lot of very talented people doing music and DJing. I am starting to run my own project Tribute to House which will be mostly oriented to house music, to open up the space for more music genres. We also have here an amazing collective CandyCore founded by my friends Laura and Jenia which contributed also a lot to Brno music scene. 

BSV: We heard that you have some vinyl mixing knowledge. Who taught you that?
LUNARA: I started with vinyl records. I love it so much! 🙂 It made me fall in love with DJing, I enjoyed holding the records in my hand and have the possibility to jam and play around with the sounds. My boyfriend Martin Duke, also DJ, taught me how to play.

BSV: Your mixtape is so cool with some magnificent track selection. Is this kind of vibe the one that you are usually playing in front of people?
LUNARA: Thank you, I am glad you like it. Yeah it is, but of course it depends from the event and my current vibe. I think this mix is affected by the weather a lot and my inspirational mood. 

BSV: Are you considering music production? Familiar with some DAW?
LUNARA: Yeah, you never know what future will bring. I love to sing also, maybe in the future I will record some vocals and start to explore. I see Ableton almost every day, cause my boyfriend is producing music, so at least I am watching for now. 😄

BSV: Favorite track at the moment?
LUNARA: Now getting nostalgic with Pacific 202 by 808 State again.
