BSV: Hello Mateo! Thank you for contacting us with your session request. Obviously you enjoyed the previous episode, so you wanted to be a part of our story.
MATEO QUILES: I am very grateful for this opportunity, I met you when my friend Mass Digital shared that fantastic set for you.  It's amazing that my session is next to yours.

BSV: As an old school DJ, is it difficult to adapt to current electronic music trends? Are you in progressive mode from the beginning?
MATEO QUILES: It has not been difficult for me, since I have never disconnected from the musical world.  I have been adapting over the years according to the style I felt the most at that time. I started with Breakbeat and Electro until 2006, I continued with Minimal-Techno and Hard Techno until 2014 where I lost that spark. Feeling that Progressive gave me from the first moment I discovered it and where I hope to be until my retirement.

BSV: So you play breakbeat also? Asking for your last track in the mix (pretty).
MATEO QUILES: In my sessions I always like to end with a special track, be it vocal or Break.  I discovered a group called Framewerk who do an amazing break very old school style and they suit my sets very well. They have a label called Capital Heaven where you find authentic jewels. My latest track in particular is by Distant Fragment, also some classics that just released an EP on this label.

BSV: You are a member of the ''Malaga Progressive Space'' movement.  Do you host parties these days?
MATEO QUILES: At this moment no, we are looking to 2022 so that normality is safe and we can hold events again.  Since the pandemic, I reconverted the label into doing radio shows to promote the artists that appeared on my tracklists.  And the truth is that I am very happy since they have an incredible reception every month that keeps my motivation high in these difficult times.

BSV: Are you considering music production? DJ since 1998 must have a lot of listening experience.
MATEO QUILES: Very good question, my friend, the truth is that the production never caught my attention.  I loved going to buy vinyl at music stores.  I was 2 times in London shopping and it was crazy incredible, I was used to have 2 stores in my city, and in London I entered at least 20 !!  Maybe if 15/20 years ago I knew that being a producer today is so important and that makes you have more open doors to succeed in music, I would not have thought about it.

BSV: Equipment that you used while recording this mixtape?
MATEO QUILES: For my sets at home I always use an easy setup, Macbook Pro + Traktor + Numark Controller.

BSV: Your idol DJ?
MATEO QUILES: My idol at the moment is Hernan Cattaneo, he holds the Progressive flag so tightly that he is admired all over the world for both his career and his closeness to the public.  
He is an example to follow.
